  1. It also tries to bust your kneecaps. I have vowed to wear some sort of knee pads if I ever return.
  2. if you didn't need the hint.
  3. you wonder why the Superman/Bizarro track is yellow in the Spirit of Massachusetts episode of Family Guy. an exchange student from Seoul thought you had actually been to South Korea after a discussion about Everland.
  4. Very few rides scare me anymore, but drop towers still instill a little bit of fear in me. That being said, there is only one coaster I've ridden that I would describe as scary. A back seat ride in the NADs on the Conneaut Lake Blue Streak, with arms in the air, it truly a scary experience, yet I loved every second of it.
  5. On summer days, I only bring my wallet, cell phone, and keys, stored in Ziplock bags in my cargo pockets. If it's cold/rainy out, I'll bring a TPR bag for the above items, a jacket, and a poncho.
  6. While the layout may be rather uninspired, it truly provides a great ride, with airtime ranging from floater (hill 2) to extreme ejector (hill 3).
  7. Impossible, first of all, the doors open inward, toward the rider. Also, the latching system on the doors is purely mechanical. The only way to open them is to pull the spring-loaded pin.
  8. Does anyone know what scientists call the lesbian dino?
  9. You should have waited and gone today. The park was EMPTY. My third ride on Beast was the longest line of the day, at a whopping 20 minutes. Even Firehawk had a 3 train wait in the middle of the day. Sundays in October are the time to go!
  10. ^There was a similar sign at the Phoenix entrance last summer. I just assumed the park didn't want to run the risk (albeit slight) of the skid brakes failing to completely stop the train before the station, with another train in the station.
  11. I will definitely be up for the Texas trip if it is picked!
  12. It is going to be just like Gatekeeper Media Day where paid coaster club members will be able to attend. Don confirmed this at an event I went to a couple weeks ago. I didn't know you had to be a paid club member (this was going to be my first media day) to attend. Is it too late to join one to get in? Also, was opening day/media day ever announced? http://www.clubtpr.com/
  13. Ride lines usually die down a little once the haunt mazes open.
  14. ^If you're going on a Saturday, it will be essential. Otherwise, it won't be necessary.
  15. 1. Phoenix 2. Beast 3. Thunderbolt (Kennywood) 4. Cyclone (Coney Island) 5. Giant Dipper (SCBB)
  16. I visited on a September Sunday last year, and the park was DEAD. This is seriously the best time to visit if you want to get a lot of rides in. Wait times I encountered: Maverick: 25 min Millennium: 10 min TTD: 20 min Everything else: < 5 min
  17. I'm going to guess the announcement date will be September 13th, a Friday, alluding to a new addition in the Halloween area of the park. Or the announcement could be right on Halloween, for that matter.
  18. ^This is coming from someone who got nearly $100 worth of rides on the Coney Island Cyclone in one weekend. Not that I don't agree; riding the Voyage in 2011, it was quite rough but not to the point of no longer being enjoyable. I still rank it at #4 on my wood list, even if I do need to get off and take a break after about three rides.
  19. I like the MFs way better on American Thunder than on any other GCI. Most MF lap bars auto-staple either in the station or during the ride, which is often uncomfortable. While the bars on AT work the same way, I almost always have a little more room for comfort. It's only stapled me painfully once or twice. Plus, it has the perfect airtime-filled layout to take advantage of this anomaly--same mildness as most other GCIs, but with more and better pops of air. I found that Thunderhead didn't auto-staple either, like, say, Kentucky Rumbler.
  20. ^I know the park has been corresponding with RMC about this project since at least March. That doesn't rule out GCI, however. It is common for parks to seek bids from multiple companies.
  21. This picture needs a new caption: Angry Turds.bmp Angry Turds!
  22. Let me just say, if these blueprints are fake, Mr. Daniel James Peak, P.E. would be in some serious trouble.
  23. At Dollywood, I believe the magic number is 40 degrees.
