  1. ^...or they could leave it as an upcharge, but make it free for Dinosaurs Alive participants.
  2. I love the San Antonio Riverwalk! That reminds me; I really need to get back down to Texas. Oh yeah, lock me in for 3 duckies.
  3. TGG actually has a loop designed just for the heck of it. Unlike the SoB loop, theirs would be constructed entirely from wood, instead of steel with wood track.
  4. I'm sure the Kochs can make KK into a great park, but I get the feeling that this venture could be a bit canabalistic. I'd imagine that a decent amount of HW's market comes from the Louisville area.
  5. It's just as close to the closest major city (Buffalo) as is Darien Lake. Don't Marineland commercials even run on the American television stations? They are still competitors. Even without competition from nearby parks DL would have to work even harder to keep the locals interested in the place & that means investing money in new attractions...having competition nearby only makes it worse if the park isn't keeping up. Seabreeze is Darien Lake's biggest competitor. It draws from half of DL's market. For Rochesterians, Seabreeze is the less expensive and closer-to-home option.
  6. Doug, I really like your design. Keeping the "Parks, News, Trip Reports, etc." column on the right side is important to me. I don't know what it would contain, but a third column in the middle would look better from an aesthetic standpoint. Also, I would encourage independent scrolling of the "Parks, News, Trip Reports, etc." column. This will allow users to be able to view several days worth of material without having to navigate away from the home page (like the current home page, but without having to scroll the entire page).
  7. I think I see a sea serpent in there too!
  8. I'm going with 4 duckies. I'm so excited to see this thread active again.
  9. I am a huge fan of the Excel version! Here's my top 10 (and worst): 1. Ravine Flyer II 2. Voyage 3. Beast 4. Raven 5. Cornball Express 6. Legend 7. Thunderbolt (Kennywood) 7.5. Favorite Steel (MF) 8. Viper 9. Lightning Racer (tracks are tied) 10. Wildcat (Hershey) 33. Mean Streak The wonderful state of Indiana, which I had the pleasure of visiting twice this year, has bumped my favorite steel all the way down to my eighth slot. As for the "rough coaster" conversation, I would have to agree that I do not rank coasters low for being rough, but it turns out that, often times, boring coasters do tend to be rough (Mean Streak; Predator; Psyclone, RIP). However, I do find myself calling good, rough coasters extremely aggressive, instead of using the "R-word."
  10. I was at the park yesterday. It was really nice out, which would explain the huge crowds. ^The Beast was giving some great night rides (especially with the surprise effect along the track). As for the magnetic trims...It's one thing to have them on the MCBR, but killing the speed on the helix approach is just cruel.
  11. Fried Dough Stand 1 looks too intense for me.
  12. ^ That's disappointing to hear since, during my 2008 visit, they had some of the best operations I have seen at any park.
  13. Good call. The lack of OTSRs (if they stick to the concept art) will provide some more freedom too.
  14. The point is still moot, but dive machines do have floors under the middle few seats.
  15. This would make visiting CW next summer almost unavoidable. I'm in!
  16. Wow. I don't think you could have possibly summed up my feelings any better. Needless to say, I still really enjoyed playing with that Hot Wheels set and will probably be driving up to Canada this summer. (I just got my Enhanced License!)
  17. That video of Astrosphere brought back so many memories. I remember riding the Gyrosphere at Seabreeze back when it still played Fire On High (the intro used to creep me out), back when it was actually dark inside the dome at the beginning of the ride, back when it actually ran at full speed for a short part of the cycle, and, oh yeah, back when it actually existed. I really do miss that ride. Thanks for posting that Robb!
