  1. I'm currently in college right now, and my degree has a lot of classes that are "core" classes (required classes which I don't have as much interest in) and I was just wondering...which of these "required" classes did you think was the hardest? It can be college or high school or whatever level of education you are at as long as you state why you found it hard and as long as it isn't relevant to your degree/career plans (because that goes against the thread's point) I’d put my vote in for Chemistry, in particular because of how hard the Final can be. Memorizing the charges and gas law formulas is not a cakewalk either, especially if you’re the kind of person that doesn’t care for studying. Passing college-level Chemistry without a calculator to help with those pesky calculation questions is very tricky, but I know from personal experience that it can be done. I will agree that College Algebra is a failed-test-zone for procrastinators though, but mainly the second section on quadratics. Once you get past that point it does start to get a little easier IMHO, and the final is a snooze-fest compared to the one in Chemistry. US History is a very annoying class, although I wouldn’t consider it hard. It’s just that there are so many events to memorize and most people aren’t passionate about it so you end up forgetting important names and dates whenever you actually take the tests (sigh). The questions dealing with how and why people reacted the way they did are not trivial, though, and the reading essays that many teachers will assign do require some thorough reading of the texts and some fine-tuned writing. Most people that choose to coast their way through History are stopped dead in their tracks by the reading essays.
  2. Either this is an April Fool's joke in September, or Six Flags is trying to expand their company in yet another werid way that will never cease to amaze all of us. First the Coaster Cuts, and now this...what's next, "Freestyle Water Park"?
  3. YES!!! Finally a new homepark for me, and from the looks of it, a well-themed one too! Hope they get some worthwhile coasters - personally, I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for at least one of the following: an Intamin Accelerator, a B&M Flyer, a Euro Fighter, or a ZacSpin. The vertical volcano one in the concept art looks like it could be an S&S Thrust Air. Hopefully this place won't become the next HRP...but in any case since I live just outside of Houston I'll probably get to it and get the credits in its debut season. That is, of course, if I don't move out of TX before then.
  4. Keep up the good work Natalie! While SFDK’s coasters don’t look like anything to write home about, they seem to be decent and can satisfy a lot of what’s out there. Besides, at some point I’ll have to make a visit and Photo TR featuring “the first park to friend me on Myspace!” Somewhat off-topic, but now that the TPR Texas Trip has passed, do you ever plan on doing the Texas parks at some time in the future? Be warned that if you go to Texas on your own trip you'll probably have a to rent a car (even if you do just SFOT or SWSA & SFFT) because our public transit systems are next to useless...and I think there is little doubt that driving in Texas is generally nastier and more stressful than driving in North Carolina! Although I hear the east coast is notorious for people not paying attention to anything on the road...including construction signs to move over because the lane will end.
  5. I used to have around 1200 songs before my computer got a virus and I had to reformat its hard drive to get rid of it, erasing my iTunes library. I have 410 on it right now...still have to get around to ripping music from lots of those old CDs I had. LOL, then you'd hate looking through my iPod. My Artists tab is full of things like "Blue Techno CD", "iTunes CD 3", and all the songs in them are labelled by their track number when I ripped them. I guess I'm just used to being a very unorganized person.
  6. Yeah, when I went to KBF I noticed that many of the ops were having a great time, I didn't think they were as rude as R&E had always said (though I might have caught the park on a good day). The only problem is a lot of the microphones in the ride stations at KBF on my visit were turned up really loud! When they dispatch the train, for example, they say "All clear, enjoy your ride on Ghostrider." Only in the station it comes out "(distorted) ALL CLEAR (mic feedback) ENJOY YOUR RIDE ON GHOSTRIDER."
  7. Huh, so this ride isn't good enough for "Intimidator 232", eh? Just "Intimidator"? Wow, there goes CF again with the name reusing...almost. Also, remember everyone's hyper bets in the really old thread about CF getting Paramount Parks? Well, they didn't disappoint! In fact, all of the former Paramount Parks except Great America have gotten/will have a hyper by the summer of 2010! So looks like all the speculations three years ago have finally come true!
  8. Great TR as always Natalie, I THOUGHT you were on the West Coast Trip but didn't know for sure...until now. I wonder which trip you'll be going on in 2010? (Middle America, Brazil, and UK Trip #2 are the ones that R&E mentioned in the questionairre awhile back) Can't wait to see your photos and report about SFMM, KBF, and SFDK!...But I guess I'll HAVE to wait.
  9. I actually kind of feel that way about people putting their arms up in general. I know it's very popular among enthusiasts, and I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but trying to keep my arms up just kind of distracts me from the actual ride. /Other people doing it is not really a peeve, though--just for clarification. Yeah, that's kind of how I feel too, although I agree that I don't mind others doing it (we all ride differently, fair enough). These days I kind of hold on out of habit, and because I like to brace against being thrown around too much. It's only when people who do put their arms up act like not doing it makes you a wuss does it really irk me. My actual park pet peeves: -People screaming on rides just because they feel like being loud (in my experience this is not a problem really on bigger rides, but on mine trains, indoor coasters & haunted houses it can be a real issue) -Ride ops that over-abuse the loudspeakers in stations (e.g singing songs, trying to play games with the GP, going on about how cute/awesome/cool they or the ride is) -Those park employees that stand near the park entrance and are always trying to pull people over "Hey, wanna get a picture?" -Ride ops texting/talking on their cell phones while operating the ride (again, very common) -People that let their kids run wild and get in the way
  10. Wow, you hear the rumors about a Giga Coaster at KD for 2010, you read the press release and they are confirmed, you think "All right! as look at the POV and think this is gonna be awesome! Then you look at the train renderings and you cry... A lot of people really hate those Intamin OSTRs, I haven't had TOO much a problem with them, but I agree with the others, why could the new El Toro/Bizarro lap bars not be used here? Regardless, it looks absolutely insane. Seems a bit on the short side for some reason, but the elements look wild and it sounds like it might even be better than MF. It will be on my list of coasters to ride soon!
  11. Yeah, so am I. Not too ashamed to admit it though. My Mage just hit Level 75, and I have a wide range of lower level alts as well. I tried out the Death Knight class, and I thought the intro questline and lore were really well done, but the class itself didn't do much for me - I thought it was too similar to the Warrior and the Warlock, neither of which were classes that really grabbed me from the start. Having said that, I think it is possible, even likely, that I would feel differently if I had played the Death Knight before the Warlock & the Frost Mage. But sadly, this is a vantage point I'll never be able to experience.
  12. I actually thought Boardwalk Bullet was a really awesome coaster (although my sig could have told you that ) and not as rough as some of the other woodies I've been on (Texas Giant, Rattler, Son of Beast), so if it's the worst GG woodie, I REALLY need to get on another one. Also, that Aquarium restaurant at Kemah is so cool, brings back so many memories... Nice TR of my "home" parks! I do hope to go on a TPR trip next year. I have run out of excuses for not going on one.
  13. Yeah, I saw this just last night when we were channel surfing and we were like: OMG a coaster game show! Staged, probably to some extent, but still entertaining, although from what I know it's only those three KBF coasters. I agree that it was interesting the first time, but I see things everyone else doesn't, being an enthusiast, and I agree they need to do more parks to make it more interesting. I was just telling my Dad that I hope they do a Cedar Point episode with Maverick, Magnum/MF, and TTD! This was from the episode I saw: Funny! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=182GMMxyuOk
  14. Looks better than Deluge to me. Yet another reason for me to hit up HW some time. Now I look forward to the inevitable debate about whether or not this is a credit.
  15. WTF? She told YOU to shut up, but then carried right on screaming for screaming's sake herself? I would have smacked that b***h.
  16. A long time ago I knew this girl named Aspen at my college. I found someone with the same name as her on Myspace, and she even looked like the Aspen girl I knew. A while back I sent her a message introduing myself, and for a long time I never got a response, but yesterday I got a message from the Aspen I had contacted. Intrigued, I opened it up. I found, instead of a message about how she was thrilled that I remembered her, something along the lines of this: "I'm not that Aspen but you sound like an a$$hole f**k your mean to whoever that other aspen girl is." I didn't say anything mean in that message, it was just a simple inquiry, what was her right to call me an a$$hole just because I mistakenly messaged the wrong Aspen? I died a little inside that day.
  17. No lie. I can for the most part handle the typical screams that come naturally when the fun begins, but those morons screaming that high pitch girly scream when no one else on the ride is "because they feel like being loud" - is where I draw the line. Unfortunately, a lot of younger riders habitually scream on parts of rides they shouldn't, particularly, sad to say, girls aged 10-17. When my Dad and I rode the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland in California, we were ready to maim these two girls in the chair right behind ours that were screaming as loud as they could over and over throughout the WHOLE ride. Nobody yelled at them or said anything at all to them even though we were both hollering in disgust about it afterwards, so...that ride was ruined for me. This poll really needs another option "Depends on the situation and tone of scream"...I wonder how many votes THAT would get!!
  18. I found my lost wallet!!! It turns out the Lost and Found at SFFT had it (So I lost it somehow on my recent trip to SFFT). I know I had my wallet with me when I bought my Goliath onride photo, and when I bought a Powerade to drink, so it must have gotten lost somewhere between Goliath and when we left the park.
  19. So, I was gonna go out shopping for some things. I got my stuff together, and then I realized…what the…I can’t find my wallet! In a panic we searched all my clothes pockets, all over the house, and in the car, with no luck! My debit card, driver’s license, and social security card were all in that wallet! How’d I lose it?! I’m DOOMED!!!
  20. ^^^I kind of have mixed feelings. I can see why R&E are against the KD thrill-ride approach (I'm sure they don't want to see a family atmosphere park like BGE descend down the same thrill-oriented path that so corrupted KBF) and there are many family rides that I would enjoy. Kind of a bad choice of words, mind you, although the enthusiast inside me does agree with you to some extent. Although I like B&M Flyers and I think a GCI woodie would fit in well, I'd be just as excited to ride a Dragon's Fury-like Maurer spinner. Personally, I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for an Intamin Ball Coaster or an S&S Eagle Coaster. Still a park on my "must visit' list.
  21. Bumping because I think this is a very entertaining thread and lots of new users have joined us! 1. I have Aspberger’s Syndrome. 2. I’m an only child. 3. I have always been very tall for my age (I am currently 6’4”) 4. I’ve been skydiving. 5. My Myers Briggs personality type is ISFP.
  22. The dark body slides on Black Snake Mountain at SFMM's Hurricane Harbor (I think they're called like "Coiling Cobra" and "Twisted Fangs" or something like that). They're 75 feet high, and they look like your typical dark slides. But I honestly didn't think they would be as fast as they were. You lie on your back and since the slides are totally black you can't see where you're going - all you can sense is yourself picking up speed until you're going so fast the water is splashing backwards onto your face! I was a bit freaked out my first time on since I had never been on that style of slide before (Schlitterbahn is my home waterpark). Makes the dark tube slides on that complex look like kiddie rides!
  23. I had my wisdom teeth removed about a year ago. Everyone including my Mom was telling me about how it's better to get them out sooner rather than later, because if you don't the pain will be like 10x worse. Just like the original poster, I was wondering if I could still do my summer coaster trip, too (KI/CP). They gave me laughing gas to distract me. It was a freakin' awesome sensation, time seems to be in fast forward (though you can still hear the dentist's directions), and it sort of feels like your whole body is having a never-ending orgasm (no other way to describe it ). The only pain I noticed was when they actually start prying the tooth out there's this sort of "cracking" pain that kinda hurts. It took awhile for that numbing stuff to wear off, I had the gauze in there and was swallowing my blood just like Natalie, but despite doing the constant ice pack changing my right cheek still got really swollen...but it ended up all right. Overall though it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting, I got to ride the coasters of Ohio afterwards, and I'd say I've ridden more painful Arrows and Vekomas!
  24. In my most pessimistic moments, I never thought my Chicago area coaster trip (SFGAm and IB) would end up getting cancelled at a moment's notice due to lack of funds. So now I'm stuck in TX for yet another year...I hope the Texas trip participants are enjoying themselves!
  25. MF is at the top of my steel coaster ladder as well, although probably soon to be surpassed by a bunch of other new steelies! And to each their own, but I can't think of anyone else I know who thinks Maverick "sucks". Probably just not your type of ride or you're not so good with those Intamin OSTRs.
