  1. ^ agreed. The job opening was for a general height. There were other things before this coaster that were almost near 350 (Eifel Tower, Drop Zone, ect).
  2. You win. B&M doesn't build that much higher because they don't need to. The GP will still go crazy over a coaster that's only 240 feet as much as they will for 300. Parks are looking to save money any way possible, if sacrificing 70 feet for a cheaper (a couple million) coaster is that way, then they're going to do it. The GP will still be satisfied and people will still flock to the park to ride it.
  3. The park does not own that land (Almost certain). Earlier in this thread (WAY early, like 1-10 I believe) there's a Google map image showing the property lines. The lines run parallel to Volcano and the area of construction all the way back to behind Hurler. Don't worry about that field. The land that they do own is almost the size of the park now so they have plenty of room to build a enormous coaster.
  4. The truck at the end Defiantly scared the you know what out of me as well as everyone else in my party.
  5. I was at the park on the 23rd. The ride sign at the entrance said it would be closed all day. Security at the rope off in the morning said that it would open around noon. We left around seven and we never saw a soul near it. :-/
  6. Oh my god. I think I would have melted. I'd be enjoying the music more than the coaster.
  7. Aw that was great, Congrats! If only Maryland and or Virginia were not south of the Mason-Dixon line, Or else me and my man would be next.
  8. SFA closed yesterday early if you want to share some of your disappointment. I understand how your pissed, I probably would too, but if it was me running the park, I probably would have made the same move. Just my 2 cents.
  9. Sea Turtles are pretty cool. Yay. Does this have to do with the swimming turtles in the bottom left hand corner of this page?
  10. I was there too on Monday. The rain was a great way of keeping people out. there were probably 100-200 cars in the lot all day. The rain stopped around 1 or 2, I can't remember. But they had all the rides running except Grizzly and Hurler. Americana was still being worked on as you can see from those pictures. Everything was a walk on all day. I did somewhat of a "marathon" on Rebel Yell and Anaconda. Dominator of course had the no re-ride policy. At a couple points during our visit we were the only ones on some of the coasters. It was kinda creepy almost! Dominator - 6 Anaconda - 14 consecutive re-rides, 16 rides all together FoF - 3 Volcano - 4 Avalanche - 2 Rebel Yell - 9 consecutive 11 all together Drop Zone - 2 Shockwave - 1 Log Flume - 1 Ricochet - 3 Scooby Doo - 1 It was a coaster enthusiasts dream pretty much, no lines all day every ride was a walk on...even with 1 train operation on every coaster.
  11. ^ I went to SFGAv last year and operations were superb (minus one of 2 days for a short time Medusa's crew was slow as hell). SFGAm and SFoT also had nice operations that I remember. Anything has to be better than SFA. The employee's are lazy, rude, and disrespectful. Do you know how many times I've seen employee's talking on their cell phones while either holding a train or checking restraints? Almost every visit. Or the ones that are just plain lazy, it took a good 5 minutes to dispatch a train on JJ one time just because the employee took his jolly freakin' time checking restraints. Okay, done ranting.
  12. I have a lot of friends that won't go to the park because of it's reputation and/or their previous visits. Most of the people I know describe the park as "ghetto" or "run-down." One of my co-workers said she'll never go back because last time she went on a summer Saturday and all the coasters, except the Roar and Wild One were broken for most of the day. Another thing mentioned by another co-worker is that she described the park as one giant baby sitter. A lot of people drop their kids off there before work and pick them up on the way home. I mean with the 50 dollar season pass, you can't really beat the price though. All my friends or co-workers prefer KD or Hershey... The park just has a really bad reputation, and just bad operations. It's still my home park, I'll still get a season pass, and I'll still go at least 10+ times this season. But what can you do when the GP despises this park. SFAfan+1....uh I mean coaternerd, please don't attack me I still love the park.
  13. About Alabama Adventure, don't forget to check out their new water slide. Upsurge.
  14. ^^ Ohh, ok thanks for clearing that up. I was like...really thats IT?
  15. From what I saw in the video, the ride seems, uhm....short. Drop. Immelman. Over banked turn. Camel back. Brakes. Seems kinda like a waste. Unless the video was leaving out a section of the ride that Thorpe Park didn't want the public to see. Kinda like when the Mystery Mine first opened, the "pre-lift surpise"
  16. This non inverting loop looks like its going to be VERY disorienting actually. I'm very interested to see how people like it.
  17. The Wild Mouse @ Dorney Park. It was the only ride with a line and it was a clone, I didn't bother.
  18. Wildcat at HP needs one. The MF trains did help, all the padding absorbs some of the vibrations, but man, ride it at the wrong time and you will walk off with your spine in a million pieces. Oh, and Roar.
  19. Holy Crap! Those flash pass prices are so low! SFGAv's was 120 for gold for two.
  20. They just need to advertise the CRAP out of the park. Mass advertising everywhere. I know a good 75% of my friends/coworkers/acquaintances go to Myrtle Beach at least once a year, and I live in Maryland. I'm glad to see the park have a second chance. Lets just hope it doesn't fail again.
  21. Booo.... Two Face isn't on SFA's map this year. Nor is anything else different, so unless they redo the map, that "BIG" announcement sounds like a spoof. I love how they put grass between Wild One and Batwing, when in reality, its a giant dirt lot. lol.
