I think New Orleans' land could be sold... there will be a land-grab and a 140 acre plot would make a nice subdivision for the nearby country club. Problem is that most of the land isn't Six Flags' to be selling... More articles: http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/060112/20060112005813.html?.v=1 http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/060112/six_flags_marketing.html?.v=1

La Ronde Discussion Thread
ParkTrips replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
yea, cause it's soooo different :'> I may jet up there this summer to visit TGE and La Ronde (well, I have another thing on my itinerary that is really drawing me up there), I haven't decided for sure yet. -
disclaimer - I'm not picking on you directly, just a generalization I really don't like that approach... yea forums are nice but content comes first in my mind. I prefer seeing the content done and then consider message boards... Otherwise, you site looks pretty decent

What it sounds like (to me) is this... Say a park's capacity is 30,000. They fill up on a busy summer day and say 2,000 leave during the day for whatever reasons. Thats 2,000 more people they can let in and charge admission for. OK.. their theology makes sense to me now, sorry if everyone else understood why they were doing it unlike me. Not that I agree with it but I understand the logic.. Continue your bitching

Dude you can get in with your ACE membership... and it's a park-sponsored event, which is why so many different groups have access so to say.

Storm Runner in the little valley thing... -
Thank you for the Schlitterbahn schedules. I didn't know they had been posted

I know growing up we used to picnic on the 'hooch whenever we visited SFOG. Then they go rid of the back gate, and the number of picnic'rs went down, but still... a substantial number of people do so even today. I guess no one will get that opprotunity now... - Joe, who would really be ticked if they don't allow water bottles anymore :-/

I run the terk adapter set with my Alpine head unit and I LOVE XM. I can't stop praising it...

Probably because French is 'designed' to be sang From what I understood, lower level French is tougher than lower level Spanish, but once you get into the advanced stuff (especially in the usage of verbs), the trend is reversed. Don't take my word for it, I took spanish for one year and French for six so I can't make such a judgement fairly, but I can repeat what I had been told over the years by various French and Spanish instructors of mine. - Joe, who even after so many French courses, is ashamed to admit he can't formulate sentances well enough to communicate anymore

It was 75 degrees today. Last Friday it was in the 40s. By Saturday it will be much the same. As I was trying to point out, the weather is quite volitile in that it really ranges a lot. Wintertime here means a lot of rain too, and the possiblity of freezing rain and such. I like having the park closed a couple of months to get the park back in shape, meaning refurbs and such.

Jeremy - If you can, spend a day or two in San Diego. Its beautiful down there. The beaches are really nice (even if the water is chilly). Belmont is a really small but charming little park, esp. at night. The Dipper is like $5 a ride and is fairly tame but provides a GREAT view. Sea World was cool too... I'd go there before hitting the San Diego Zoo (very overrated IMHO). Clyde and Seemore was enjoyable and the penguins, Shamu show and everything was just really cool. The rapids ride was great, second only to Popeye in my mind. They were still building JTA when I was there but Robb and elissa seemed to indicate it was kinda lame. I just loved all of the little beaches on the coast... I mean, I was out there 2 weeks in 2003 and only went to 3 parks Go to Tijuanna... it's so bad its awesome - Joe, who says "ask and you shall recieve" See ya soon.. sfog opens in less than 8 weeks

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
ParkTrips replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dude something tells me opening day won't be empty.. that's why I'm waiting for a weekday at the end of the month to go -
Try to ride Hulk up front at night. Totally awesome launching up a dark tube. SheiKra in a 'big boy seat' (middle of row 2) for awesome floating air, and then again in the right side of the train in row 3 for the best ride, IMO. Montu & Kumba in the back. Front on those two is always nice as well. Other than that I don't really care myself, but try not to miss those IOA water rides When are you going anyway? (knowing the answer is laying around here somewhere I still ask 'cause I'm lazy)

Bumper Cars- Track Or Rectangle?
ParkTrips replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Assuming track means the ones with the dividers, I actually prefer them because that sets up some spin-out opprotunities. Nothing like running parallel to someone and then stalling out a bit before the turnaround only to spin out your partner -
oh damn I forgot to send Robb a happy birthday card

^Pandemonium was listed under the 'spinning coaster' category, I think... Apollo's Chariot - 14 Nitro - 6 Superman - Ride Of Steel - t1 Mind Bender - 52 Top Gun - The Jet Coaster - 23 Storm Runner - 13 Talon - 46 Superman - Ride Of Steel Darien Lake - 12 Kumba - 24 Batman And Robin; The Chiller (Robin) - 60 Looking at the top 20, 25 or so it's pretty cool to know that I've bene on almost all of the highly ranking domestic steel coasters... now I just have to conqeur Europe
