  1. I have no idea who the manufacturer was but Astroland used to run their Pirate Ship on the maximum cycle and they ran it longer than any other Pirate Ship I've been on.
  2. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20839 No need for a new thread, use this thread
  3. Tom - Are you planning to just ride each coaster once and leave the park quickly or will you be riding certain coasters multiple times and trying out other rides?
  4. Even is the Simpsons is well past its Prime a 26 year run means it has not just one generation of fans, but two generations. Even as its first run media exposure fades, it will still have a substantial fan base and relatable characters for another 20 years, minimum. Would it have made more sense to add Springfield 10 years ago? Probably, but that doesn't mean adding it know is a bad idea. In other words, "Don't have a cow man"
  5. We already have a thread that is almost 500 pages covering these sorts of misconceptions HERE
  6. After your recent posts this is to be expected
  7. If the cost differential between the two types of passes is less than four days admission, then buy the platinum passes. Assume even if you find discounts, you'll pay $35 per day) plus parking (about $15 per day per park). I think it is easy to see that 4 park days outside your home park makes the Platinum Pass the better value.
  8. How are they running Woodstock Gliders?
  9. Interesting, I wonder if they are removing something or are they expanding in the parking area where they look to be assembling it now. From aerial images they seem to have a bit of room between First ST. and the inlet on the side where the Zipper stands. Thanks, I haven't been there in years and don't know how recent the aerial photos on Google are.

  11. No, what's ridiculous is complaining about it here and thinking a change will occur versus using the proper channels. If no one complains through the proper channels no action is likely to be taking. Of course you are free to complain on TPR and that might make you feel better but that is not going to help the situation.
  12. Yes, it was in relatively stable shape, but AUCTION! Who is going to buy a boring 90 year coaster? If someone wanted it all they had to do was call the park, I'm sure the park would have given it away, since that is cheaper than paying demolition costs.
  13. Again, these operations are the norm in April. Many people already mentioned this same fact when writing their initial reviews
  14. I know they have a classic Twister at Lakemont Park (along with all their other great rare vintage rides!) I assume there are a few more around, but that is the only permanent instalation I can recall off-hand. I think that is the last permanent installation. At Williams Grove the Twister ran at an insane pace if you asked the ride op to amp it up.
  15. For many parks the year will be printed in very small type around somewhere in the border of the park brochure. Since it is a year round park, Knott's may even have a month/year. Such as 6/04. I needed to take this approach to identify many of the brochures and maps that were added to TPR's Park Index.
  16. Some people just don't understand. I would rather have a good relocated coaster than a brand new pile of turd.
  17. ^^ I did not realize people could walk unobstructed under that much of Fury325. Interesting
  18. Since I saw this brought up in the Hansa Park thread, which coasters still run over a section where you can walk path and you are not protected by a net. Medusa's cobra roll at SFGAdv immediately comes to mind for me, but I know there must be more.
  19. Some people need to stop thinking so much.
  20. Because a sign, paint job and cardboard cut out in the station totally makes themed rides. And it's not like all six flags rides are themed, most aren't or even if they are, you won't even notice half the time. I'm not saying All (Or Many) of Six Flags Steel Coasters are themed, What I am saying is that Cedar Fair took a Shot at Six Flags when they do the same thing. The Los Angeles Times wrote the article, not Cedar Fair!
  21. There is no direct bus from NYC to Dorney Park I think the best strategy is to take a Greyhound Bus from NYC to Allentown. Then you have to take a local bus (LANTA) from the Allentown bus station to Dorney Park.
  22. If your post is a high quality Photo Trip Report or contains photos that might be worthy to be added to the Park Index, you would click that button. A moderator would be able to check photos and PTR that members submitted to the Park Index and the moderators would decide whether to add or not to add. Unfortunately 90% of the people that click that button, are clicking it in error
  23. Thad, if you had asked the question I would have responded, "Scroll to the top of the f'n page"
