  1. Going to bump this. If anyone has any information that would be great. The park provided no additional info in today's e-mail blast to Pass Holders
  2. The only reason ever to pick SFA over SFGAdv is if sexual favors are involved. And sometimes that might not even be enough reason to select SFA.
  3. To add to what Elissa said about Kings Island and Cedar Point. Transportation will be a big expense for any trip over a thousand miles so if time allows you want to try to pair two big nearby parks together whenever possible. Cedar Point and Kings Island allow you to experience a wide array of coasters. Great Adventure and Hersheypark are only 2.5 hours apart and also allow for a wide array When all is said and done, if you are driving Carowinds will most likely be your most economical choice. Carowinds is also the park least likely to be getting something big next year due to the cost of Fury325 this year, so you won't be beating yourself for not waiting another year to visit. Many expect both Great Adventure and Cedar Point to announce new coasters for 2016.
  4. It still closes early, yes. I don't think wait times approach three hours much anymore, but it is still very busy throughout the day. If visiting the Safari is one of your main goals, try to make it your first attraction early in the morning. And the animals tend to be more active in the AM also
  5. I have noticed this trend, too, lately and it's come up with a few park owners/operators that I'm friends with and here are some of the issues that I keep hearing... - Mechanical water rides are very expensive to keep in operation, some of the most expensive rides in the parks. - Anytime "water" is involved it introduces many other issues such as soil under the ride softening quicker than dry rides creating issues with foundation and ride stability, mold and mildew issues, bugs and other such nature problems. - Water treatment is very time consuming and expensive. - Older water rides are starting to reach their expected lifecycle and need to be removed. I don't know much about this log flume, but is it an older one? If yes, that might be the answer to the question, and who knows, maybe in their long-term plans they have another water ride somewhere down the road to replace it. Robb has perfectly elaborated on this quote from the press release. "The Log Ride is over 40 years old, and while still structurally sound, technology for rides has advanced by leaps and bounds in that time period. It is requiring an enormous amount of upkeep and maintenance that isn’t feasible long term."
  6. Damn, I was hoping to never have to visit Iowa again, but this changes everything.
  7. I asked John Fitzgerald a few quick questions today. 1) He confirmed that he wants to incorporate baboons into the Safari Off-Road Adventure in the future, but provided no context or time frame. 2) I asked him if he wanted to give TPR a hint about the Lakefront. He was unwilling to comment, except with a joke that it would be a good place for condos. I guess I should have pushed back if this meant they were building a hotel again but I know the tonwship would never approve that idea on the lake. I suggested Interlocking S&S Free Spin coasters as homage to Lighting Loops. He was not amused.
  8. Antti - thank you, I added many of the pictures to the Park Index. I am really intrigued by this coaster
  9. Flat rides just make more sense for this type of park, so I just don't expect a coaster.
  10. It'll change early next month when I head up to SFNE! I was sick of being left out and finally made the trip yesterday, now I just need to ride more of them to compare for myself.
  11. Rye has (had?) an excellent Whip ride. Knoebels' whip actually stutters a little in the turns. Yes, Rye Playland has the other properly run Whip. I've also heard good things about the Lakeside Park Whip...how does that one compare? I haven't been to Lakkside yet, one of the few major US parks left for me to visit.
  12. Add me to the list of surprised enthusiasts regarding NAMTAB. I expected some earboxing, but didn't experience any (but my niece took one good shot). I rode it twice and loved the intensity especially the backwards loops. i think the novelty will wear off by the end of the summer but it was real nice to experience the ride in a new way.
  13. Rye has (had?) an excellent Whip ride. Knoebels' whip actually stutters a little in the turns. Yes, Rye Playland has the other properly run Whip.
  14. I love trick track elements, so the trick track on Wicked Cyclone (unless they gave the element a new name)
  15. I'm going with a tall spider dressed like a clown.
  16. The Camden Park Whip is one of the only two run at the proper speed to experience a real whip.
  17. Maybe they will put four of them in since there is enough space.
  18. Since today was a Monday, let me tell you hat I encountered today during a warm sunny day. I hit some traffic so got the the turnstiles at 10:30 on the dot. I forgot how many people carry big bags that take time to search to the water park. So I didn't get through the gates until 10:40, not bad. Headed straight to Wicked Cyclone, They were only running one train and it took 20 to get to the station, but then they decided to put on the second train which caused a 15 minute delay. I got right back on line again and with the second train the line moved quicker. However, again right when I got up the stairs they stopped the ride and take one train off the track, another 20 minute wait. I heard Mr. Expert say that this happens quite frequently. A lot of people left the line because of the delay so I got right back in line for a 15 minute wait. SkyScreamer had no line at opening but was up to about 25 minutes by 11:30. Then I headed across the park to ride Bizarro a few times, it was a 40 minute wait so I only rode it once. Dark Knight was a walk-on. Rode a few flats with no lines then headed back to Wicked Cyclone and SkyScreamer. Wicked Cyclone had two trains running and I got three more rides in with about a 20 minute wait. SkyScreamer was still about 25 minutes so I passed. It seemed like most of the people not in the waterpark were in the queues for Wicked Cyclone and Bizarro. I usually ride Houdini, but completely forgot about it today. BTW, I forgot that I hate the extremely limited menu of the Panda Express at SFNE. But I had a hankering for it and stopped at a mall with Panda Express on the way home. In the mall's Food Court I noticed a Chick-Fil-A. I did not realize Chick-Fil-A had expanded into Connecticut (4 stores opened in the past 12 months). It turns out one of them is in Enfield, CT right at near the I91 exit I use to get to SFNE.
  19. Haha, meant breakdowm, the guys next to me almost started a beatdown
  20. Aaaaaaaaaaaah! I'm stuck next to him again on the platform during a beatdown.
  21. Lucky me. I just got to hear an RMC expert pontificate about RMC for 15 minutes while SFNE added a second train. I now know everything I need to know. BTW - this expert has ridden two RMC coasters, that's right two of them.
  22. Winja's surprises (I'm sworn to secrecy)
  23. It does sound more like a flat ride name. Keep in mind names have been trademarked by parks in the past and never used.
  24. I think you need to cross your arms so your right hand is on the left joystick and your left hand is on the right joystick
