The last new Coaster in your Count
larrygator replied to K1ngdaKa88's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You are doing it wrong! When was the last time you rode a specific coaster for the first time? What is the name of that coaster? -
Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread

I just looked at last year's announcement and the Alice in Wonderland and Arendelle projects were for after fiscal year 2017, so this is not confirmation that any previous announcement has changed. However, Screamscape shows Arendelle to be on hold -
Weird? I'd say this whole thread is one clueless person who continues to be clueless. I am very proud of myself for using the word clueless instead of something derogatory, like stupid.

Aargh! Keeping them in the walkway provides such great exposure to a larger audience (if promoted). Yesterday a couple with two kids was walking from Kingda Ka to El Toro, one kid started walking through the Seafari area telling dad it was a short cut. He told her they should just walk the normal way. I told the dad if they took the short cut there would be a huge surprise the whole family would enjoy. The two little girls were so thrilled when they saw the cubs playing around,

When does an element become an inversion?
larrygator replied to Marney's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At angles of roll between 135 and 180 degrees on either side, your body is more upside-down than it is sideways. I remember people being sticklers about coaster drop needing to be 90 degrees or more to be a vertical drop. 88 or 89 degrees was not a vertical drop, but now being close to upside down is upside down. I'm just not following the logic. So, does that mean on your 26th birthday you will be in your thirties because you are closer to 30 than 20? During your junior year in college were you a college graduate because you were almost done? If you run 25 miles of a marathon have you finished? Why the hell am I even in this thread, it's pointless and non-productive. -

When does an element become an inversion?
larrygator replied to Marney's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really hope this is a joke because this is probably the most ignorant post I've seen in at least a month I find many of the responses in this thread more ignorant than his post. Unless you change the definition of invert, it is the point at which you go upside down and as BDG graphically illustrated, 180 degrees. -
Ride the coaster and that will seriously influence your opinion of the coaster. The footprint of The Joker is much smaller than a 3,000+ foot coaster. Many times parts of a large coaster can not been seen from the rest of the park clearly. For example a sign on at the highest point of KingdaKa or Nitro would have to be immense to be seen. 50 years ago, many coasters had their names prominently displayed on the ride itself, but you won't see anyone claiming that The Joker is a vintage/retro coaster.

Asia Park in DaNang, Vietnam
larrygator replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I moved all the info about Asia Park into a new thread -
I guess we will know if this is for real quickly since ground breaking is supposed to occur tomorrow http://www.croatiaweek.com/construction-starts-on-first-croatian-theme-park/ Construction Starts on First Croatian Theme Park Construction on the Croatian version of Italy’s Gardaland theme park in the northern Dalmatian town of Biograd na Moru will start on Wednesday. The ‘Croatian Gardaland’, which will be the first theme park built-in Croatia, has been designed by Italian Amusement Design specialists Bausaa, who have worked on the design of theme parks in Russia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Investors are hoping that the park will attract more than 200,000 visitors a year when it opens by 1 May 2017 at the latest. The theme park will operate in a similar fashion to Gardaland and have 25 attractions such as roller coasters, carousels, water rides, lakes, and a stage for artistic performances. The park will have three sections – a children’s section, a family section and a section for teenagers with adrenalin rides – and also an electronic games and simulators hall. There will also be a range of firework spectacles. There will also be restaurants and cafes at the park. Zagreb firm Tehnika will carry out the construction. “It will be the first theme park in Croatia based on Gardaland in Italy, and the famous theme park in Florida, Orlando,” Franjo Koletić, director of Mirnovec pirotehnike who are beind the project confirmed, adding that the park could be ready by Easter next year and by 1 May at the latest.

Beech Bend or Lake Winnie or Alabama Splash Adventure
larrygator replied to Bhamguy's topic in Ask Alvey
Have you considered Dollywood? That would be the obvious choice if you could travel a little more than 4 hours. -
File it under 1-800 - notgonnahapen http://www.shoalsinsider.com/florence/dreamvision-amusement-park-backer-fails-to-pay-rent/ Dreamvision Amusement Park Backer Fails to Pay Rent Bryan Robinson, CEO of companies that backed the Dreamvision amusement park, is being sued by his landlord for not paying rent on his office. Robinson Capital Investments was renting an office at 412 S. Court Street in Florence. Rent was not paid in February, court documents state. The legal documents state that Robinson gave a personal guaranty in which he “unconditionally and absolutely guarantees full and prompt payment and performance of all rent, liabilities, and obligations”. The term of the Lease is from May 1, 2015 through April 30, 2020, and Robinson Capital agreed to pay total rent of $245,824.20. Greater Alabama Building, L.L.C., is seeking damages from Robinson Capital Investments, LLC and Bryan Robinson for the amount of back rent due under the Lease, the amount of lost future rent under the Lease, late fees, court costs, attorney fees, pre- and postjudgment interest, and such other and further relief as the Court may deem appropriate. The amusment park, plannned to be built in Lauderdale County, has been severly delayed. Robinson is also being sued in Tennesse for a Christmas pageant production that had problems and by the state of Alabama for selling securties without having the proper registration.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Travel baseball tournaments are huge. Here in Columbus we have a complex with almost 40 fields and they almost have every field taken for big tournaments(softball and baseball). Eleven fields is not that much. The Berliner Complex (if that's the one you are talking about) is huge. I have played in many competitive softball tournaments with upwards of 40 teams. The reason you need that many fields is to keep all the teams in one complex close together to simplify logistics for the organizers and minimize travel time. Nothing worse than playing a triple header in the morning and then having to drive 25 minutes during your lunch break to a different set of diamonds for the afternoon games. I think this is a great business move. -
