  1. I think you meant to say "Give me a stout!"
  2. ^It has been discussed by Robb even to the point of thinking of including it in the next upgrade of the Park Index. i.e.: click on a park and see who is planning to be there and when. This is not happening, just something that was brought up at one time. Robb has a ton of things on his plate with the design of the site and we just have to handle one thing at a time (like Coaster Tube) and make sure already is done right. With Meet-Up threads, right now the choice is to have dozens of various "Meet-Up" threads one at a time or creating a SuperThread. The problem with a SuperThread is requests to meet-up would get lost in the sheer volume. Another idea is possibly a Sticky like the "Favorite" Sticky thread with a different link for each park. However, even that is a daunting undertaking to upkeep and the more sticky threads we add, the longer it takes to scroll to active topics.
  3. Cedar Point does not compete with Magic Mountain. If you are talking about for bragging rights for the most coasters, both CEO's purse strings are talking more than their egos right now. If you are talking about competing for the same customers, that is not a valid point either. There are probably less than 1,000 people that seriously make a choice between going to Cedar Point or SFMM in a given year. In the end if they visit one park this year they will more than likely get to the other park in the future.
  4. Jay - So your girl didn't like the meatloaf or the rolls but loved the mashed potatoes. Broccoli was a "wash". That is considered a success? 1 out of 3 is a success in baseball, not cooking.
  5. HEY EVERYONE! Good, got your attention. Let me put my moderator hat on. Chill out on "Crazy4Coasters" about the all caps post. One post out of hundreds he has made is not a habitually problem. We are not perfect, mistakes are allowed here.
  6. Glad to help - I specifically linked Eric's because it had a couple of midway shots at night with multiple rides versus single ride photos.
  7. I'm not too certain of the background, but did Steve Baker and Baker Leisure really run Cypress Gardens into the ground? Hasn't Cypress Gardens been dead for years? Seems like these guys may have dug up the Cypress Gardens body and then reburied it in a deeper hole.
  8. You're not totally getting it. The creditors did own the park. They could have operated it if they decided to invest more money into it. They didn't, which is why it went from being in a restructuring (Chapter 11) to liquidation (Chapter 7). No, I get it. You are rephrasing exactly what I said. I said that if the creditors had not sold the park, they would still own it. You said the creditors sold the park, so they no longer own it. No difference.
  9. I think their are 2 key parks you will pass very close to but have left of the list are Knoebels and Indiana Beach. You'll be close to or pass a lot of other decent sized parks (Wild Adventures, Six Flags America, Lake Compounce, Kings Dominion Rye Playland, Sea World Orlando) but I wouldn't swap out any of your suggested parks except maybe Dorney. It also looks like you only have a half day at Kennywood. I made that mistake on my first visit in 2001, you need a full day there to absorb the whole park. One month does sound like a long time to be driving on the road. I know after 17 days on a bus visiting amusement parks most people need a break. Add the aggravation of driving and less sleep and it very well could be too long, but if you think you can handle it, more power to you.
  10. Eric Johnson's Florida State Fair Photo Trip Report There are a couple in this Photo Trip Report. As long as you credit Eric Johnson and TPR (if they are worthwhile and high res enough) you can use them for educational purposes. If you use them for personal gain the TPR Secret Police will hunt you down. You might be able to find more pictures using the search function at TPR. Type in "Fair" as the search term Select "Photo Trip Report Archive" as the forum to narrow the returns. Otherwise any thread with the word "fair" in it will appear.
  11. ^So why did Hurley freak out when he saw Ben on the plane?
  12. Speaking of the Original Busch Gardens in Pasadena - here are links to two attractions from the LA Times website: Suspended Monorail opening in 1966 People Mover being constructed in 1974 over the log flume
  13. This is to be taken in the context of if the park was not sold. If the park had not been not sold the creditors would own the land and the assets of the park. Since the park was sold the creditors now have $25 million.
  14. You have to get there on your own. The Alvey's teleportation device is broken.
  15. Good pictures. I would add some of them to TPR's Park Index if they were loaded on TPR vs. imageshack.
  16. Dane - thanks for the pictures, but I merged this into the other thread and will change the title so people know we now have pictures. I also added your pictures to TPR's Park Index. thanks again
  17. ^Are you homeless? Do all those items fit in your shopping cart?
  18. ^I guess that would explain why so many are close together in the middle of the day. I assumed they had been given Ritalin or something similiar. Oh well, I chalk this one up as further proof of my parents poor "labeling" system with the old photos.
  19. Busch Gardens (Tampa) in 1972 was much different than today. As the name implies it was set-up as a garden for the Busch employees and the surrounding community to enjoy. The animals were there in 1972 along with a monorail and train ride to assist in viewing them in their "natural" habitats. However, the thrill rides that are a staple in Busch parks today were probably not even a thought. As I was going through these photos I remembered why there are so few family photos from our 1972 vacation. We traveled with another family on this trip but 5 years later that husband and wife divorced. Then in the mid-80's the husband's new girlfriend was visting my parents and looking at old photos. She asked to borrow the pictures. Then she proceeded to cut the ex-wife out of all the pictures belonging to my parents. My parents subsequently trashed all those pictures. So on to the few pictures that remain. I have the utmost confidence that my dad was taking the penultimate Busch Jungle safari photo until the animal jumped out of the range of dad's trusty Polaroid. Actually if you look closely dad has captured a crouching bigfoot next to those holes in the cave wall. Pachyderm peacefully portrayed on Polaroid. Say it 5 times. It, it, it, it ,it The zoom lens on the Polaroid expertly captures these birds. PETA must have loved this photo spot with authentic elephant tusks.
  20. Moved to Main Forum as this can be better addressed by a member who may have stayed there versus Robb and Elissa.
  21. ^I've only dressed in drag twice and it was in Florida and to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. Don't make me start another retro Photo thread!
  22. ^I don't know who the hell the characters are at European theme parks, but I still enjoy the rides!
  23. I appluad your testicular fortitude in posting those pictures and living the spirit of that traditional event. ^Damn Bob, I see stuff like that everyday in New York.
  24. Do you want to know how many times my cell phones have rung at an inappropriate time? NEVER. There are both always on vibrate. I don't even know what the ring tone sounds like on either.
  25. ^Busch Gardens pre-rides/just animals from 1972 will be the next installment. The tower in the orange grove is the Citrus Tower in Clermont, Florida. I don't have pictures but I remember going there, also. I have St. Augustine pictures, but will stick to theme parks only by posting the Marineland ones but not the historical ones.
