  1. ^^^Craig - sorry for picking on you and your fear of clowns ^^Chuck - since my camera skills (and camera) are weak, I better make the crappy pictures tell a good stroy ^Andrew - the rest of the PTR will feature: Sightseeing and food in Chattanooga Alabama Adventures The "As Seen on TV Store" in Pigeon Forge Dollywood
  2. Over Labor Day weekend I decided to make a last minute drive to some of the parks TPR visited earlier this summer on the Deep South Trip. After a 12 hour drive I settled in for 3 nights in Chattanooga as my base camp. On Saturday, September 5th I arrived at Lake Winnepesaukah right at opening. I had a strange feeling overcome me as I awoke, like I was in for a special day. I ended up spending 4.5 awesome hours at Lake Winnie. Then did a little sightseeing afterwards. Page 1: September 5th, 2009 - Lake Winnie Page 1:Chattanooga sightseeing Page 2: September 6th, 2009 - Alabama Adventure Page 2: As Seen on TV store Page 3: September 7th, 2009 - The Final Stop Dollywood Almost forgot, they even had one of these with a wheelchair seat for Adam. And I find Jolly, this is the last garbage can topper I found. I had to rush out of the park so I honestly don't know if I accomplished my mission or if I was just hallucinating the whole day. Approaching the crest of the Boat Chute, again to get a better view of the park for clowns. Not as antique as Jeff Johnson, but probably a credit in his mind. I found this clown "doing it wrong" by stopping on the train tracks. After ride practically every flat ride I hopped on the train to scour the periphery of the park for missing clowns. Even though I had strict instructions to take pictures of garbage can toppers, this pathetic clown pleaded, "take my picture, I'm not cut out for the Little Striker game. After a well cooked grilled chicken sandwich (with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce) I explored the rest of the park. I snapped this picture even though he said 'I'm BoBoo, don't waste your time taking my picture. I'm no longer a garbage can topper and can not be brought back. I'm just a painted piece of wood, now. Exclusive never before seen shot looking into the Castle dark ride. Big Bob had been banished to the kiddie rides area, don't know who he pissed off. Like Pinky. Don't know what happened, but someone put this baby in a corner. The Alpine Way sky ride gives you great views of the park and allows you to see things you might not otherwise see. I never got this guy's name, but I'm sure he liked Cannonball, also. I was really impressed with Cannonball, great little coaster What that's! Another clown, this time Fat Jack On the wild mouse I see this sign, but I know the handrail is not nearly as old as Jeff Johnson But I'm here foremost to ride, so I take on the Orbiter. I still think this is crazy until I run into Sneaky, so I snap his picture. Then I hear this "Hey buddy, don't stare, just listen, I'm hiding. I'm Al, it's a cruel joke to be named after Al Jolson. Anyway I'm the Ringmaster's last functioning clown. To restore the rest of Craig Knight's beloved clowns you must take pictures of them all." Then out of nowhere Al vanishes. Wacky Worm, Wacky Worm, Wacky Worm. Legal to ride in Georgia. More more whirl than tilt, I would rename them all Whirl-A-Tilt I tried to chalk up this "happening" to Sweet Tea overload and tried to enjoy this beautiful park. Sure, signs and rides talk to me occasionally, but this is weird. A couple of months ago the evil temptress Elissa McNofun passed through here with her gang of rabble rousers and turned my beloved clowns into garbage can toppers. You will be contacted by Al, my only remaining clown. He'll brief you on the mission. As I enter the park this guy starts talking to me. "Psst, you. Yes, you with no sleeves. Can you help me out? I am the Ringmaster Craig Knight and I need your help. My morning fuel stop.
  3. Agreed it was conspicuous that as a separate gate water park they did not have this attraction.
  4. ^I skipped the Windsor Legoland sidetrip on TPR trip to the UK in 2006 thinking I wouldn't enjoy it, but this year I enjoyed the Legoland in Denmark, with a bad hangover in pouring rain, so much that I'm biting the bullet and going the Legoland when I'm in California in two weeks. Even if the best I can do is the $8 off coupon, I'm still going.
  5. Regardless if Robb and Elissa have ridden, they know of Sea Dragon's existence. Seeing as this thread really does not serve a purpose in Ask Alvey it is being locked. There are not many remaining wooden coasters they have yet to ride.
  6. I believe parents should eat their young. This PTR proves it. Seriously, a good job making Old Town look like fun. Not really. See you in a couple of weeks Colin.
  7. I know this has been a dead topic for awhile, but I love this show and the next round of "Heroes" are carnies. In my book that's Red Dawn Awesome!
  8. ^^But he counts bobsled "coasters". There is much debate on what constitutes a coaster. Count it if you want or don't count it. It is your preference, but we don't need to go through the debate on mountain coasters again.
  9. The coaster was out of HRP before Robb and Elissa visited in June, 2008. There is also sscamatt's PTR from May 25th, 2008 that does not show the coaster. Again the coaster was not there very long.
  10. I merged this with an existing thread.
  11. Someone alert Chris Fourmont - This is the real Space Shuttle! I remember back in the early 80's looking up in the sky during an off season track practice and seeing the space shuttle piggybacked on a jet flying above. It was pretty cool to see. It had been announced in the newspaper the day before that that would be happening at a low enough altitude to see but I didn't consciously make an effort to view it.
  12. I know it was only there for a short time as a loaner, don't even know if it ever opened to the public. My impression was that it was always going to be temporary and that HRP brought it in last minute when they realized that 2 of their 5 coasters would not be operating when the season opened.
  13. Here's the picture that "jarmor" took of it during opening day photo by jarmor
  14. ^Have you ever tried any of the food that Brits like? Those people are a little off. No a lot off. Not a huge fan of the comfort aspects with Eurofighters myself, but none of them are close to the WORST coaster ever in my opinion.
  15. Plain and simple, advances in technology allow coaster designers to do things differently today. I really don't think too many of today's designers would want to throw out their computers and programs and try to compete with Harry Traver or John Allen.
  16. Your points are valid, but remember none of us are perfect, including the moderators. We have good days and bad days and with TPR being the busiest theme park website we sometimes see the same problems over and over again. Many times the moderators are moderating during limited breaks we have during work and our responses need to be quick (and sometimes not the most thought out). But at least in the first instance you mention we are not saying. "Hey stupid this is already being discussed right under your nose." Sometimes as moderators we make posts based on the person we are responding too. Since I made the response to Jeremy asking if he thinks Robb wanted to be corrected... let me respond. I would not have made that specific response to a new poster or someone who is not familiar to Robb. If a newbie or non-regular had made the same post as Jeremy, I would have written a different response. Also keep in mind that when posting updates for a previous TPR trip, someone corrected Robb on one of his captions and Robb asked that people not do that as it really frustrates him and makes him not want to post any updates.. One other thing to keep in mind is that some of the rude responses from the moderators come after sending PMs trying to the habitual problem posters to correct their ways. If they don't listen to our private pleas to change, then sometimes call them out and do get rude with them. Again we are not perfect and Robb gives us a little latitude to use our judgement so he doesn't have to do all the moderating. Robb will let us know if he thinks we are too over the top in our moderating. I can tell for a fact that every moderator has been reprimanded in the past and apologies have gone out in threads and via PM.
  17. The inside LaRonde sits upon is sinking into the river!
  18. ^My apologies if my presentation of Enchanted Forest came off as sub par. I really liked the place and thought the theming was excellent. If I had the pictures I took I would have been able to portray a better story. The only thing that worried me about Enchanted Forest was the Ice Mountain Bobsleds structure, but I liked the ride when I wasn't worrying about it collapsing underneath me. I make no apologies for the way I portrayed Wild Waves. Maybe the staff was just going through the motions at the end of the season, but I was not impessed with the ride quality or operations.
  19. ^I learned that on my first ride. As a single rider I jumped in an extra seat with a gravy boat enthusiast and got crushed. Not as bad as riding coasters in Scandinavia with Vekoma Erik!
  20. Wow. Tough crowd to entertain on TPR, I thought the food PTR would be more popular, I guess Robb really does have limited internet access in Asia to not comment on food. Anyway I had: a Pulled Pork Sandwich from the Masque BBQ, 2 large Strawberry drinks from Orange Julius and 2 ears of roasted Corn on the Cob for $20 Canadian. A very fair price indeed. Now on to the final stop on my trip, Playland and the Pacific Northwest Exposition. While Playland itself did not astound me, Coaster certainly did. After riding over 150 wooden I think this will be my new #3 (behind Phoenix at Knoebels and Hellcat at Timber Falls) when I complete Mitch's poll. The minimal restraints and just plain sick airtime had me tearing up with pleasure after riding. Lines were a little long for Coaster (average of 20-30 minutes) since I went during the PNE, but it was certainly worth it two experience all the additional flat rides and fair food. For those not in the know, each year the PNE is held at Playland (late August to mid September) and a single ticket allows for all rides (except upcharges) to be enjoyed. Anyway, here is the last batch of pictues from my the Pacific Northwest. and I had already spent my last $5 on a second Strawberry Frosty from Orange Julius. The Haunted Mansion looked awesome, but I didn't have time Just like Disney Are you not entertained? BOOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 What's that I see? Yo Busta, how did you get dragged into this craphole of an attraction Only $5, are you sure you don't want a ride? Spin Out was their other ultra extense flat ride No thanks, I'll pass again including the blurry fungus exhibit The great thing about fairs and expositions: farm exhibits TPR approved Tilt in a tent None were crazier than this one. I almost had a bowel movement on this one. Lots of intense flats are brought in for the PNE An upcharge, for this? No thanks, I'll pass. and much younger than Jeff Johnson Did you know this coaster is awesome? The amazing chariot that will carry you to airtime nirvana You are about to encounter Red Dawn awesomeness This looks like the right place Minimal line at the border crossing and no trouble getting through Oh Canada! You know the routine by now
  21. This thread serves is a good primer for other activities in the area
  22. 2008 Asia Tour It could be one of the Happy Valley parks Robb and Elissa visited in 2008.
  23. The Klotti coaster is seriously underrated in that it produces massive air, always great to see pictures. Maybe someday they will complete the Volcano flume.
  24. Wow, that magical hoodie is more powerful than I thought. No wonder Grog was so fixated on getting one.
  25. I failed, I should have made comments on your PTRs to help you get the pictures of multiple pages. Bad moderator, bad moderator. I've used quite of few of your photos for the Park Index.
