It appears Hungary's major amusement is in financial trouble VidamPark close to bankruptcy Budapest's Vidám Park will not open its gates this spring and could go bankrupt in the autumn, the tabloid Blikk reported on Monday. The 60-year-old park is battling a Ft 70 million deficit. Management wants to sell the Ferris Wheel and Top Spin rides and then lease them back in order to solve liquidity problems, but Budapest city council's cultural committee refused to approve the business plan. CEO Tamás K falvi blamed the financial difficulties on a drop in the number of visitors to 370,000 last year from 422,000 in 2008. Poor financial management by the company is also responsible for the near bankruptcy, according to Magyar Hírlap.

Walt Disney World Epcot Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had pizza once at Disney (Animal Knigdom in 2007). It was an abomination and I said never again. Well this might be why one of those reaons you should never say never. I'll give it a shot next time I'm at Epcot. If I'm drunk at Food and Wine Festival next October, someone remind me to try the pizza. -

I totally agree that they help out the company & bring in a lot of $$. I would just like someone to explain to them the rules more clearly about how to behave at parks, about line cutting, & be more respectful to Cast Members directing them for certain attractions like when loading them on a one wait for the Cast Member to tell them to board rather than have them all stampede to try to get on at once. Wait a minute, you mean to tell me that guests from a different culture don't automatically know how everything works the second they step foot on WDW property? Your job is to treat them respect, no matter what they are doing. Especially considering they probably have no idea what they are doing isn't acceptable. I'll go a step further. If you have Brazilian friends/co-workers, as you say. Try to pick up a little Portuguese so that you can help correct the problem in a polite manner. In the grand scheme of life, it could hurt to learn more. Also, remember these "horrible" tourists, also save those living in Florida from having to pay a state income tax. -
Legoland Florida Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If "Legoing Up" = Making something "Legolandish" we are on the same page. ^Didn't I read somewhere that the water ski show and botanical gardens are necessary as they have been landmarked by the State. EDIT: I found this snippet in one of the articles: The deal to buy the 145-acre site includes the freehold on the current theme park and waterpark as well as an operating lease in perpetuity on the historic botanical gardens. I'm no lawyer, but it sounds like: if you buy the rest of the land you maintain the gardens. It doesn't say you can't add lego insects. -

Legoland Florida Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only way I see Starliner staying where it is and making sense if is they fence off Starliner(since it is right along the road) and then lease or sell that land to an outside vendor who operates Starliner independently at a seperate fee. The coaster is just not "Legoland" material in its current state and don't see how it can be made Legolandish. I would have liked to see the Flying Pagoda stay if it can run reliably. Just because one doesn't exist at any other Legoland's, doesn't mean is should automatically be discarded. Is the Flying Island still there? -
TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index

Right......but that means viewers of the page have to scroll all the way back up through tons of pictures to do that. I figured that adding the link at the bottom like the one that takes you back to TPR would be easier. Just a thought. OK - Now I understand. I posted a note about your question in the Assistants Forum to make sure Robb sees this. Good input. Troll - thanks for the waltzer sign. -

^If I understand your question correctly, there is the option to click on the words "Park Index" at top of the page. That should serve the same purpose. -
We some reason whenever I see that picture (from a couple of posts back) I'm reminded of Grona Lund. I guess I just hope the old and the new can be blended in the right manner. Ryan - I agree losing the sideshow would be a downer. The sideshow, Cyclone, Wonder Wheel and Nathan's are the heart of the place. I don't hold out hope that the parachute drop will ever be refurbished. Although the area is really depressed and surrounded by a seedy element, at least cops are always present with a police precinct right around the corner. I feel safe there, but I think a lot of my comfort level is that native New Yorkers know how to spot and avoid trouble situations.

Remember photos must be .jpg should not exceed 800x600 (Unfortunately, many people have submitted photos that are too large for TPR to use or in pdf form.) High quality photos (not blurry, distorted or out of focus). Lastly, we are not adding kiddie rides or major upcharges at this time, but we are at the point where family rides such: transportation rides, carousels, ferris wheels and bumper cars are being added. And if you have to ability to scan your park maps, feel free to submit those for the years that all not already in the Park Index. Of course any PTRs containing superior photos or entertaining captions and a variety of pictures including multiple rides and areas. (Not just one or two rides/attractions) are always valued. Attention has been given to every previously submitted Photo TR. Don't feel discouraged if we can't include every one. PTRs must be downloaded onto the Theme Park Review server (not Imageshack, photobucket) that way we know a Red X will never appear to be added to the Park Index. Lastly, if you have photos of a different ride that is not in TPR's Park Index, please submit that also. -

TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would have no trouble adding flat ride pictures for MBP. since the park is already in the database. Actually, I'll look old PTRs over the weekend for photos. However, keep in mind the primary focus of the Park Index is the present/future. We want to provide information for those who may be planning to visit a park. We want to give enthusiasts a feel for each park and get them excited about visiting. Populating the database with closed/defunct parks (while good from a historical/nostalgic perspective) doesn't build towards the current goal. It's nice to have but not the primary focus. -

If you are respectful of others, courteous and slightly overgoing you should have no trouble making friends on a TPR Trip. Just like any other new experience just be yourself. Months before the trip starts there is a Private Forum on TPR just for the participants of your trip to allow people to get to know each other and bond beforehand. Some people on the trips are hardcore about riding as many coasters/thrill rides as possible, others are more laid back and some do the trips more for the social aspect. This hobby as a whole tends to be more male dominated but on some of the US trips there has been a surprisingly high percentage of women. There are no restrictions on rooming. There have been instances where male and female friends roomed together as well as couples. Thanks for your interest in TPR. Glad you enjoy the site.

^thank you so much for the pictures, excellent. I know that at least 3 of those Power Park rides had signs (Fiesta Mexicana, Mega Drop and Pegasus) as I saw the signs when I was there last summer with TPR, but didn't have a my camera. The signs may have been small but they were there.
