  1. ^I merged your "news" with our existing Th13teen discussion thread.
  2. ^Like I said, there are more differences once it gets to the high school level.
  3. Awesome pic so far. Feel free to post as many pictures from the parks as you want as I will add the to TPR's Park Index. We love featuring the travelers of TPR members to remote parks. That same Italy World Cup banner hangs in my barber shop, which not surprisingly is run by Italians thanks in advance
  4. Olov - thank you I am turning this into an Official Discussion Page for Gröna Lund (or maybe Adam will beat me to it).
  5. ^^I really like the ratings spreadsheet approach especially when you show multiple parks next to each other.
  6. The distance between the bases is usually different (this might not be a factor in youth games). The pitch is delivered in an underhanded motion in softball, but overhand or sidearm in baseball. Bats are slightly different for softball (more surface area). Other rule deviations may not apply to youth games, but come in to play at the high school level.
  7. That was all kinds of awesome. Was the game of "soccer" with the abandoned car a regular event at KDDA or did they throw it in this year due it being a World Cup year?
  8. Sorry if the front row is the only tolerable seat, the ride has to go. I can't decided which is worse, Rolling Thunder or GASM.
  9. The submission tool is currently down. There is a list of rides that are not currently in the park index in the following thread and photos of those rides can be submitted in that thread. Check out Page 31 However, if you wish to submit additional high quality photos of rides that we already have photos of in the Park Index, we'll just need you to be patient and wait until the submission tool is up and running again.
  10. ^If he received a buyout of is suing (and I don't know if either is true) he probably has a gag order on discussing Six Flags.
  11. People are being criticized when they try to state their opinion as fact. I have not seen an published study showing Intamin to have more accidents/problems than other manufacturers. While any of us can believe this to be true, I don't think anyone can prove it as fact. Then we get to the issue of assigning blame. The German authorities are very thorough and will get to the bottom of the problem and determine who was to blame, but in our instant society everybody wants a quick answer based on conjecture and hypotheses versus facts and findings. The following applies to any park or manufacturer regarding an accident. Very few on this site are experts (although many think they are) and before a manufacturer or park is demonized we should wait for the findings.
  12. ^There is a lot of confusion not just with the translation from German to English, but also that terminology can mean different things to different people. Even a simply term like derail. Some people will define derailment as any wheels leaving the track and coming to rest on another surface, while others may define derailment as the act of the whole vehicle (all cars) leaving the track. Emergency Brake is another term that there is confusion around. Some are taking "emergency brake" to mean that the ride was engineered to stop the train when some wheels left the track, Some are interpreting it to mean that someone manually hit a button to brake the train due to an emergency. Some can interpret it to mean the train came to a grinding stop due to the emergency situation, such as metal dragging on metal causing friction and an "emergency" stop. Right now there is no clarity, so you are not the only one confused.
  13. I'm jealous of the Chick-Fil-A cups in your car.
  14. Ah the Crystal Maze, that was a lot of fun back in 2006. I hope all the terminals were working properly this time around.
  15. There's no need to act like an A$$ when no one knows the answer to your question.
  16. Come on, let's not hijack a good PTR to debate the definition of a rural town.
  17. The weather is always cruudy in the UK, you don't see too many unpale Brits. I think you'll find that it's not actually. Your comment angered/offended me by the way . Say that the truth hurts do much. JimmyBo - Bad Memory, that guy was at a ticket booth by the GoGator.
  18. ^They probably keep operational expenses down by not having the rides inspected.
  19. Damn, GKTW dropped back to 10th. Hip Hop Academy jumped past GKTW.
  20. I guess I got lucky the Gold Rusher was operating on my visit last year, although I missed the powered kiddie and both Wild Waves and in Spokane. Timberhawk was pretty smooth last year, but I only recall one decent pop of air.
  21. Definitely the most comprehensive coverage of Story Book Forest that I have ever seen.
  22. Although mapping systems might say 4.5 hours from Newark to Woburn, it could be closer to 6.5 hours at that time of day with the routes they suggest.. Do not follow any directions that take you through Manhattan (I-95 over the George Washington Bridge) are through White Plains (I-287 over the Tappan Zee Bridge). Those bridges can add up to 2 hours to your trip due to rush hour traffic. The better option will be 30 miles longer but should get you to Woburn in 5 - 5.5 hours. This route involves going north on the Garden State Parkway, which turns into the New York State Thruway and continue going north, then go East on I-84, Then I-90 East towards Boston, then you are safe following any route that is provided to get you to the hotel in Woburn
  23. Let us know where to hotels are. For example, if you are east or west of NYC when you start your drive can vary your drive time by 2 hours.
