Mega-Lite... let's see. They've never worked with Intamin. It would be very expensive. Not very reliable. They have no place to put one. It has not even the slightest whiff of nostalgia, no connection to the past whatsoever. One doesn't exist in the US, meaning they wouldn't have found one by traveling to "at least three states". And it would have absolutely nothing that's marketable other than "trust us, it's a great ride". Why would it even be mentioned in this thread? Every time the words "Mega-Lite" is mentioned on this site, in the context of "speculation", I feel like there's sand being rubbed in my eye. But this would be one of the more ludicrous examples. I agree with some of your points but not others. Knoebels is positioning this as the fourth generation stepping out of the shadow of the third generation, so I wouldn't completely rule out something that is not traditional. And it'd easy to market since the existing models are so highly revered by enthusiasts. Also I don't recall any of the Mega Lite being unreliable. Lastly, Knoebels owns plenty of land. With all that said your comments about the three states rule out an MegaLite.

I completely understand if El Toro gave them whiplash, but there are people ranking Wildcat at Lake Compounce higher than El Toro. How many years has it been since Wildcat dished out pain free rides? Personally, I have Hell Cat at Timber Falls ranked above El Toro. My fifteen rides on Hell Cat in one day were insane. I hear it doesn't run as well now, but I can only base my ranking on my rides. I saw someone had Ghost Rider at the top of their list. I can't fault them if the only time they rode it was during the early years or if they rank only on their best ride ever on a coaster. Some people have a bunch of racers above El Toro, I can even understand that if you love the racing effect. But when a coaster has never been near the Top 10 and is ranked ahead of an established Top 10 coaster, it makes no sense.

Agreed regarding "any day". But night rides on Prowler beat night rides on Thunderhead. Overall I prefer Thunderhead, but have no hate for Prowler.

Seriously - what's wrong with B&M Wing Coasters? I honestly have never ridden one, and I'm sure that they're not "intense" or "aggressive", but they look like fun, graceful coasters that you can ride over and over again. What's wrong with that? You sort of answered your own question. For many people, if they are not intense they are not fun. The one I've ridden was not fun, it was boring, a snoozefest.

I really wanted to love this park when I visited a few years ago. But I didn't love the place, it was a little too run down for my liking. Legend was nothing to write home about.

Bill, were there any years where Coaster was neglected and ran poorly? That certainly could effect the ratings since only 29 people ranked it. You don't see any other coasters outside of the Top 20 that so many well traveled enthusiasts have ranked in their personal Top 10. Coaster is such an out of the way coaster that many might only ride it one time.

It's nice to see Playland's "Coaster" bounce back to 21, glad some people still love it. More people need to get to Vancouver to ride it.

I had no idea they were that close to opening. The photos make it look like there is much work to do. Also, even though Sochi is not your typical climate for the Winter Olympics it seems like a strange time to open a park for a few reasons. 1- Average temperatures of 40 degrees are considered cold for an amusement park. 2 - Vehicle congestion in Olympic cities is usually very high. 3 - Security is usually very tight right near Olympic villages and the park to right next to the village, will the public be able to easily get to the park during those first two weeks. 4 - Is there generally a high level of tourism is this beach town in March/April/May before the summer starts to support a park. I still see a comparison to Myrtle Beach since I don't know if the tourists can easily get to the amusement park nor do I know that they have a real interest in leaving the beach (or parties) for an amusement park. I would guess that most vacationers fly in Sochi. Do they then rent cars? How far are the beachs/hotel rooms/rental houses from the amusement park? If it is not walking distance I expect few to visit. I could be wrong, but that's how I view it.

Did you read the post above yours? It said that it will be open in summer. The winter olympics are in February. Will it be open in time for the olympics? Yes, the park will open this summer. It is currently winter in the Northern hemisphere. I'm not sure if you have looked at a calendar lately. February is two days away. The Olympics start in ten days!

I always forget what is being built myself and that's why I decided to start these threads a few years ago. Glad you enjoy it.

I think I have all the announcements from major parks, let me know if you don't see something. I'm not planning to add every installation in China, unless it appears to be at a major park or appears to be a large coaster.
