  1. Great report! We were able to spend a few days at this park last summer. I agree about the parking lot mess. To make matters worse, the baseball stadium was emptying out at the same time the amusement park was. Beyond that, we had a blast at the park. The crowds were not too bad, and without fast lane we were able to hit all the coasters several times. I vaguely remember the food service being slow, but after spending the past few days at cedarpoint I cant complain about it anymore.
  2. Despite the weather, we had a great time this entire closing weekend We were able to hit all the major coasters multiple times, and did all the haunted houses several times as well. Closing weekend is always bittersweet. We were able to enjoy the weekend with lots of friends and coaster geeks like ourselves . But on the other hand, the winters up north are cold, long, and void of coasters. So with that being said, I have an idea to help with the off season blues. Let's play a game. I took a bunch of pictures from around the park of signs, rides, and other park landmarks. The object is to try and figure out what it is. Most are close up pictures. Let's see how well you know the park. I'm not gonna lie, most of these are not easy to figure out. I figured that I would do 1 a week if you guys and gals are interested. So here is the first picture. Any idea what it's from?
  3. I wish them much success! I remember this park was featured on an episode of American pickers. They sold off a few of the parks circus banners. The pickers bought them for next to nothing, and found out that they were worth much more than they thought. The cool thing is that the pickers donated all the money from the sale back to the park to help with the renovations. You can watch the episode here... https://www.history.com/shows/american-pickers/season-3/episode-1
  4. Hilarious in a Cedar Fair kind of way. They actually have a height requirement to color a picture with crayons.
  5. Geauga lake did not add any new rides after cedar fair took over.
  6. I have to give the park credit. Even with the crappy weather, every coaster except Gemini is open today.
  7. A bunch have according to social media. Regardless, this is something that should have been communicated by the park sooner than an hour before the park opened for the day.
  8. Some rides can run in snow as well. Ever see that park TPR went to in the snow? The "majority" of rides dont run in rain is what I am referring to.
  9. Rain or snow...rides dont run in either. It more a matter of guest satisfaction.
  10. I mean...they knew the weather forecast last night. Why wait till 10am and announce it when you open at 11? I would understand if they announced it last night. We are at cedarpoint and the weather is cold and rainy, but yet they opened.
  11. Ouch! Sucks if you made the long trip to the park and paid for a room.
  12. From all accounts that I'm aware of(trip reports, visits to the park), the place has been a ghost town. No new significant attractions in years. Does cedarfair release attendance figures?
  13. This has geauga lake written all over it.
  14. Most of the cedarfair parks have staffing issues, but still receive new attractions.
  15. A few random shots from the park I took last week. Irony...lol A day before they were removed. This last picture shows what's wrong with the world today. People are completely lazy. There is a trash can right next to the table, but yet there was trash left on the table. Who the $uck raised these people?
  16. I do like the new sign that was just painted.
  17. ^Where in the park is the "foot" truck?
  18. Yea, the winds were crazy. I'm surprised that was the only tree that fell in the park. After the weather moved in,Corkscrew was one of the only coasters running. Maverick ran for a short time at night, but closed after about an hour. Rougarou "was" running, until it got stuck near the top of the lift and had to be evacuated. Even scrambler and matterhorn were closed, but did reopen later in the night. The park cleared out, and it was a great opportunity to check out all the haunted houses without any lines what so ever.
  19. I thought with the crappy whether, the park would be dead tonight. But I was dead wrong.
  20. Ed hart just gave a shout out to Theme Park Review, and thanked the site....very cool!
