  1. I'm hearing that the fair board has come to there senses, and agreeing to the terms to allow the park to expand. Kentucky Kingdom is pleased to report that the Fair Board has granted the park its request for one acre of expansion property required for the installation of its newest and 6th coaster – the Kentucky Flyer. The park was advised of this development after Mr. Hart held a press conference yesterday at the park. Ed Hart had this to say: “I want to thank Governor Bevin and Secretary Landrum of the Finance and Administration Cabinet for making arrangements to cut through the paperwork necessary for Kentucky Kingdom and the Fair Board to come to terms. Of course, Kentucky Kingdom will provide, if it hasn’t already, all the information the Fair Board has requested. With that assurance, we’ve been given the green light to proceed. I am happy to declare that the Kentucky Flyer is on track for a 2019 grand opening. Clearly, this is an example of Governor Bevin and his administration cutting through the type of “red tape” that can hinder economic development in the Commonwealth.”
  2. Looks like they are going to have a covered bridge, gas station, and another bridge for the antique car ride. I'm loving the water features as well.
  3. I'm a little late to the party, so sorry if its already been brought up. Has the park put out an official list of rides that will be operating? Can't seem to find much on the official site.
  4. I still don't understand how seasoned enthusiasts go to any park in the fall and NOT expect them to be rammed. I mean, isn't it a given by now? I went in expecting it. That's why I explained the reason to go was to check out the shows, and let the kids do the kids stuff. Really wasn't planning on hitting the rides till Sunday.
  5. Thought I would share this old picture I took of chang from our hotel room. This was during the six flags era.
  6. As others have mentioned...Take the cave tour.
  7. Yea, Saturday was just insane. I wonder why they dont keep the park open till 1am on Saturday nights like kings island does? I mean, with crowds like this I can see a need to.
  8. I agree. But its the same at cedarpoint as well. With that being said, I still really enjoy kings islands haunt over cp's by leaps and bounds. I'm not sure if its budget cuts or staffing issues, or a combination of both.
  9. You can spend big $$$ on fastlane and wait almost 90 minutes, or you can save your money and wait just a bit more. I'd personally save my money.
  10. Just an example of how busy they are....
  11. ^yea... We have been stuck on the causeway for 40 min now....and its 3:45. Not planning on doing rides today, but letting the kids do kids things and catch some shows.
  12. I understand that they have different approaches to their winter events but I do think it’s a bit insane that the Six Flags Park in Massachusetts (and likely the one north of Chicago) has a better ride lineup than the Cedar Fair parks in South Carolina and now Virginia. Aside from that, I still find some of their decisions puzzling even aside from the coaster thing. I’m not here to tell anyone how to run a theme park because I admittedly don’t know sh*t but like, basically the entire kids area is open but the indoor family friendly shooting dark ride with heat is closed??? The Racer 75 area is open but the Ferris wheel and Windseeker are closed when everyone knows that family friendly rides that allow people the opportunity to get an aerial view of the lights are often the single most popular type of ride at holiday events (and Windseeker has the added bonus of an amazing light package that would honestly do their job for them in terms of decorating that area with awesome lights). I don’t get it. I agree 110% except for windseeker. Imagine spinning in circles in temperatures in the 30's, 200 feet in the air. The Eiffel tower would make the most sense. You could get a great view of the lights from there. I'm also perplexed about the 2 indoor rides being closed. The dark ride could easily get a holiday overlay, and the "indoor" coaster is a no brainer. Also, I dont see the adult bumper cars listed.
  13. Screamscape just posted some pictures of a new structure going up at Holiday world. It looks like it is connected to the dark ride in the Thanksgiving section of the park. I wonder what it is? Looks fairly large.
  14. Hey cedarpoint....look what kings Dominion just added! Please take note.
  15. Glad you didn't get hit. Yikes. Nice TR! Thanks. Yea, some people will never learn. I hope it was a real expensive phone, and they didn't have insurance on it.
  16. I hear that the park is going to replace the spatulas in all food locations next spring.
  17. Sad news... It looks as if all the classic arcade games in the Coliseum arcade have been sold off. This includes all the classic pinball machines like Hercules. They were all put up for auction, and it ended on the 2nd. This is a real bummer for me. I must have spent hundreds of $$$ on rainy days on those games. Curious to see what they replace them with. I always thought that this space would be perfect for a dark ride of some kind.
  18. Other than the food situation, the park was a blast! Cant wait to revisit the Christmas event.
  19. Its more about covinance. We have 3 kids, and we have the dinning plan. There really is no excuse why the food service is so bad at cedarfair parks. Kentucky kingdoms food lines moved at a decent pace, but the prices were outrageous. I can deal with and expect high prices at a theme park, but it's a little outrageous that a pulled pork sandwich and a side of fries cost $20. Even Disney has cheaper food prices. It takes more time to leave the park to get a meal(even in the car) with 3 kids, than to stand in the horrendous lines at kings island. Not to mention, I have a bad foot and it's a lot more walking to go all the way out to the car. As far as food goes, we enjoy park food(for the most part), and only really eat that type of food while we are at the parks. At home, it's all about healthier options. We also bring snacks like grapes, and orange slices for the kids.
  20. Time for some kings island goodness! No matter how many times we visit this park, we want to return as soon as we leave. Cp may have the bigger coasters, but we seem to have a more enjoyable time at kings island. It has a certain charm to it. We were able to enjoy all of the coasters(and multiple rides on several of them), without fast lane. We were also able to do several spin and pikes as well. Our timing seemed to be off as far as the shows go, but we were able to check out blood drums and were not disappointed. I took my last spin on firehawk, and honestly can say that it won't be missed by me. The xflight paint was peeking through the firehawk paint, and the ride was in ruff shape. I'm really curious to see what comes of this ride. They had flowers under the sign to pay respect. The only bad experience we had at the park was with food operations(no surprise). We chose reds dinner, and wished we didn't. It took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and we were missing the chicken from my salad. After finding an employee that actually knew anything, I was told that they were out of chicken. I then asked for my dinning credit back(we have the meal plan on our passes) so I could go elsewhere, and was told that they couldn't credit it back. I got stuck eating a nasty, dry burger that I had to wait another 15 min for. Never again are we eating at this place. Onto some pictures..... Welcome to Haunt at kings island. RIP Firehawk Pumpkin eater is a new fright zone this year. Front gate. So this is what has become of Banshee's gift shop. I love amusement parks at night. Blood drums is a great show. Kings island has a power tower as well. A few shots of the antique car construction. Vortex is not going anywhere But does need some new paint. The same cant be said about this ride.. Nice touch. Midlevel torture device. Just look at everybody blocking the sun from there eyes. The timbers that are mystic was running great. Diamondback doing its thing. Beautiful day, beautiful park. I still enjoy this ride, even with the midcourse bringing you to a stop. The waterpark is transformed into a family friendly Halloween activities zone. The beast was kicking ass! The train is always a good way to get off your feet for a bit. That's it from kings island! Maybe I'll have a few more pictures soon.
  21. ...I don't get how this is a pro for the park. Because the lines flowed nicely, and and you didn't get stopped in line by groups cutting in front of you.
