I don't care for Cedar Fair and their lack of naming rides, like Xcelerator. Naming an "Accelerator" coaster Xcelerator, it just lacks creativity. One thing I think is cool is when rides have subnames, such as: X-No Limits X-Xperience The Xtreme Scream! Ride Out Loud Goliath-The Giant Among Coasters, etc.

^It wasn't any different in 2007 when I was up there, but you can't blame the operator ENTIRELY for two reasons: 1. Six Flags has Operator vs. Attendant. There is about an 80% chance the person checking your seat at any given coaster is not a certified operator for that ride, just given a briefing on how to check seats. 2. When running three trains we get nailed for letting the third train stop in the safety brakes. We were told to just get trains out as soon as possible. As for Mantis, I can honestly say that Mantis is by a longshot the worst B&M I have ever ridden.

I'm watching Scrubs. -
^^It's the largest in size only. It still comes in as No.2 behind Magic Mountain in the chain in revenue made becasue Magic Mountain operates on weekends in the off-seasons. The longer throughout the year you remain open, the more people will visit, and the more money you'll make. Hence why Knott's can make make more money than Cedar Point and more people can visit in any given year. Fun Fact: Knott's sees about 50% of it's annual visitorship in the month of October alone.

^Which sucks for the smaller parks. For example. Six Flags Great Adventure from 2000 to 2008: Nitro-2001 Superman Ultimate Flight-2003 Kingda Ka-2005 El Toro-2006 Dark Knight-2008 Six Flags Magic Mountain from 2000 to 2008 Goliath-2000 Deja Vu-2001 X-2002 Scream-2003 Tatsu-2006 Six Flags Great Americ from 1999-2008 Raging Bull-1999 Vertical Velocity-2001 Deja Vu-2001 Superman Ultimate Flight-2003 Ragin' Cajun-2004 Dark Knight-2008 Six Flags America from 2000-2008 Superman Ride of Steel-2000 Batwing-2001 Six Flags Disovery Kingdom 2000-2008 Medusa-2000 V2-2001 Tony Hawk-2008 Six Flags Kentuck Kingdom 2000-2008 Road Runner Express-2000 Greesed Lightnin'-2003 Notice any trend?

Underrated Coasters?
Bolliger&Mabillard replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Viper is the business and not only is it one of the better rides in the park, but one of Arrow's best rides IMO. -
^I've said this time and time again, Six Flags just manages too many parks. Magic Mountain, Starting from Viper in '90, got a coaster in: 92 (Flashback) 94 (Batman) 97 (Superman) 98 (Riddler's Revenge) 2000 (Goliath) 01 (Deja Vu) 02(X) 03 (Scream!) 06 (Tatsu) and one scheduled for 09. As you can see in the past 18 seasons the park hasn't gone longer than three years without a major ride. Sure the park is the highest grossing in the chain, but the chain can't afford to do that type of expansion for every one of their parks. A ride like Scream IMO would have done better in a park like SFA. It doesn't seem to fit in with the line up inMM, and a park that hasn't opened a ride since 2001 would've appreciated it more.

Knott's Berry Farm PTR 8/12/08

^^^RTL: RIDE TROUBLE LIGHT Indicates there is a discrepancy in the rides PLC. Xcelerator has 3 RTL's Low level RTL: Slow blinking light that indicates correctable problem, will still allow dispatches High level RTL:High blinking light that indicates critical problem, will auto e-stop itself Solid RTL: It's probably done for the rest of the day. -
Had a couple of hours to kill and a free ticket from a friend, so we figured "why the hell not, let's go to Knott's!" Parking was easy, and we got to the main gate to find that there was somewhat of a line at the one ticket booth that was still open. It was about 5:30, so that "ride warriors" commercial must be working. You know, the one that advertises 10 coasters even though they only have 9 including Timberline Twister, but that's beside the point. Our first stop was Silver Bullet. No wait, but went down as soon as it was our turn to get on. Sucks, don't it? Our next Stop was Xcelerator. Running with a low-level RTL, but it still ran like a champ. That RTL never became a solid RTL so we were on and off in two cycles. After that we headed to Ghostrider. Copper Train is back from rehab, as that train usually only surfaces right before Haunt. I dare not to ride it. After that we headed to Pony Express. Fun ride but way too short. Up next was Log ride. I'm not a big fan of walking around in wet clothes, but there aren't many parts that soak you on this ride so I'll ride every here and again. We walked to Montezooma's Revenge. Swartzkophf shuttle loop. Never rode a bad one, and this is the best of the best. No line so three rides back to back. We scuddled off to Jaguar! Closest thing the park will ever have to a mine train coaster, so I guess it's a pass. The kids seem to like it, so why not? Last ride of the night was another trip on Pony. Shoutout to the Pony Express crew for the best efficiency, and guest interaction. Everything else was standard at best, nothing that stood out. Overall it was a fun trip, but nothing except Xcel is worth a big whoop. Buttercup&Sprinkles Cacho&Lil' Bandit YEE-HAA!!! ...-7 ...-6... Score of cleanliness of restrooms: -5... Shot of Bullet, Sidewinder, and Zoom's first spike from Jaguar's station No line at the kitten ride either Look out! It's theming at Knott's! Meow!!! Zoom Zoom! With no one else in line make room, 'cause will be back! Here's that low-level RTL I told you about...never became solid, so YAY!!! High banked goodness Topple that top hat! Red train is blazin' down the track Purple train's a go-go! A world class coaster in a not so world class park Test it out a little Ghost train in Ghost town! ...or as tame Bullet may not be as reliable as many may think... One of these ride ops is not like the other Sky Cabin, which has been down for some time was testing today. It did not open to the public

^^IMO by a long shot. Not to take anything away from you, it doesn't take much to beat Lil Wayne. It's like tring to play water polo with midgets in a pool 5 ft. deep, a normal person just has so much more edge. -
I don't think adding coasters to raise attendance is the best idea. Just ask Magic Mountain how attempting to open X and Deja Vu in the same year worked out. I will say however, that the park needs to appeal to a wider audience than just locals and and kids on spring break. A resort is a must for a park wedged around no other significant landmarks or venues. With that said, HRP will need more rides in the lineup. Rome wasn't built in a day, so its easy to say they need more coasters, but how are they going to build three coasters (just putting a ballpark number) in one or two seasons when the parks revenue is failing expectations? Taking out loans to build rides to increase attendance is risky, because if the plan fails, you're in the hole $2 billion and forced to put a plethora of unnecessary advertising throughout your park.

What it all comes down to is what has been said time and time again. "Six Flags manages too many parks". IMHO if they only had to worry about their top 4 and original park (SFoT, SFMM, SFGAm, SFGAd, and SFoG) they'd have the advantage of building the infrastructure of these parks only and would not have to worry about smaller parks getting neglected. Not every park in the chain can be Magic Mountain or Great Adventure. The problem with that is however, when a park bears the Six Flags moniker, it falls into a certain category whether it wants to or not. People know the chain for being the biggest and baddest parks around. They got that reputation from the X's, El Toro's and Mr. Freeze's. When smaller parks lack high octane edge like that, even though they're still in the thrill category, they are looked at as "under performers", "bad parks", etc. I'm by no means saying that every six flags park needs an El Toro, quite the contrary. I'm sayin parks like La Ronde, Kentucy Kingdom, Discovery Kingdom, America, and Fiesta Texas Kind of get the red-headed step child from existing in the shadows of the bigger parks in the chain.

^^I was a trainer at Riddler's from March of 07 to Sept of 07. The exact same issues you stated were brought up by me, along with other amenities the ride could use. I suggested the return of the UV lights. I think the only one still there is atop the unload side of the station. Second, I suggest they get wireless mics a la Cedar Fair parks. Not only do they amplify with more clarity, but it also encourages more guest interaction.
