  1. Since the Golden Gate Bridge is a gonner, how about putting it in a bayish-type area and adding a Darkwing Duck area? I think that'd be badass.
  2. I would have to say Goliath SFMM has a pretty loud lift and Scream's horn can be heard from the fast food plaza on The Old Road and Rye Canyon Road, for those of you who know where that is... Firehawk was pretty loud, and Xcelerator has a pretty nice roar t o it for a park wedged into the middle of a neighborhood.
  3. Well the park has delivered on many of it's projects, so I see it being ready to go no later than 7/4/09, and that's only if Memorial Day isn't realistic.
  4. Even though we all made our rants and predictions earlier, I still gave the park another season or two. I think Elissa hit it right on the head by saying it was over-staffed, over-operated, and over-priced. The weakend economy and soaring gas prices could be a small factor, as it has been with ALL U.S. parks this year, but I'm more inclined to blame the management for expecting to entertain "30,000" guests per day. I'm siding with the people who doubt for it to even open next season. The park's best hope is a government bail-out.
  5. As I was washing my clothes today at the nearby laundrymat, I stepped out to my car in the parking lot to grab my PSP when I saw some chick with a flat tire. She was freaking out and I offered to change it for her as I had a jack and tire iron in my trunk. Long story short is, I did my good deed for the day...did YOU?
  6. Sorry about the zoom but the closest I could get was Deja Vu's station, but I'm sure glad to see this thing finally under way.
  7. ^To Be replaced by: New For 2009. Six park benches and a churro cart.
  8. Just got home from a trip to everyone's favorite mountain. Got there at about 12:45. Scream had a little trouble and the lift wouldn't start, but the problem was corrected and ran from that point on just fine. Nothing really stood out in terms of park operations. I didn't see anything bad enough to rant about. We ended up sitting on Tatsu's lift for about 30 minutes over technical difficulties and I got to meet Jahan finally. He was very professional in handling the situation and provided some decent coaster talk while keeping the other 31 passengers on the train in mind. The supervision team as whole as well as maintainence handled it well. Thumbs up. Also, while exiting Deja Vu, I was able to snap some interesting photos.
  9. ^Because I'm a stud every year Vwas a fat chick in a former life
  10. ^Don't feel bad, no one here is an expert...We all just pay close attention. You'll catch on.
  11. The upcharge may work for SFDK, but Fright Fest down south would need a major overhaul to be seperate ticket to compete with HH and HHN. I think if the park put the effort into it, they could come up with something decent. I mean as naturally dark as the park gets, add some fog machines and a really cool Marvin the Martian maze and keep the park open til like 1am, and you've got yourself some competition for a halloween event. Besides, I'm not going to get my knickers in a bunch unless they start upcharging for Colossus backwards...THEN we'll have a problem.
  12. Magnets? My vote goest to Mr. Freeze. Doesn't matter which one, I mean they're both the same.
  13. ^Yes it Is! The reason I ask, is Tatsu for example. Tatsu's Supports are filled with sand. The box track is still hollow which makes it create a very original and unique humm. It'd be nice if this coaster had that same sound.
  14. Laakeview Terrace 9/10 Show me someone who thinks Samuel L. Jackson isn't a good actor, and I'll show you a jerk-faced terrorist. The plot seems to be a bit cliched at the begining, but it's one of those movies that if you pay attention to the small things, there's one scene that'll put it all in to perspective for you. I mean the drama, the humor, the suspense. It works for so many audiences. I recommend you see this film. Worst case scenario you'll leave the theatre hating cops.
  15. Look at it this way. No one in marketing for any park anywhere is a coaster enthusiast. I'm sure sure theme will be looked at, but it's not marketing's job to theme rides. That's up to the GM. Marketing is only focused on getting people to ride it. So when corporate looked at X's line going from "the longest line in the park because the rides capacity sucked", to "The longest line in the park because they're cool new effects and new sleeker trains", of course they are going to try to repeat it. According to ridership and boosted park attendence, it was a success. Will guests care that the Superman theme get trampled? They will about as much as Tatsu took over the garden in Samuri Summit, or Silver Bullet took over the ghost town church or DCA took over closer parking.
  16. I'm not going to worry too much about this project until Mid-January and no press release. I know we're all a little anxious because none of us can find any VISIBLE work on this ride, but I'm sure that behind the scenes they're working hard to bring us our coaster, or the S&S flat that will take it's place.
  17. Hey does anyone know if this is a sand-fill, or if it will have the b&m "roar"?
  18. If you check RCDB for the last few press releases for Magic Mountain, they all seem to be in November.December, so I expect this to be no different.
  19. ^We're all still alive and the big bang is still a theory, so I'd assume it's still a work in progress.
  20. Once. (In the Snow) Have you ever went towork hung over?
  21. Why? (What's Going On)-The Roots
  22. No...though I find that fascinating Don't you automatically think of Back to the Future everytime you hear Johny B. Good?
  23. I think its great that SFNE is showing some attention to thies ride and agree fully with the remarketing strategy...and yes, I can see why some would be concerned that this gives SF a scape goat of building a new ride without building a new ride. Even though that premise has merit, Six Flags is the last company to add any major additions to any of their parks. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather see them revamp already popular rides than to see them market the hell out of Mice in boxes, i.e. TDK.
