  1. Your mention of Billy Hill actually made me think of my very first theme park shows, or more precise, where they were... in Disneyland, USA. Golden Horseshoe Revue - Slue Foot Sue & The Original cast March, 1963 ( I was ten!) Golden Horseshoe Revue - 20th Anniversary Show (with Original cast, like Wally Boag!) September, 1975 Those were actual shows, with just a cast, music and a way of totally involving an audience during their visit to the park. It got so huge, that wait times could be as bad as E-ticket attractions! I have good memories (and still have souvenirs!) of both visits there, and have to say those were by far, the best ones - my first ones, lol. (BTW - Billy Hill & Hillbillies played/plays there at the Gold.Shoe in DL. Yes/No, Don?)
  2. We had "somebody(s)" evil and twisted, shoot up several of the larger birds here in our big park, Stanley Park, a few years back. And they never found and caught the a--holes, either. It was sad and pretty pathetic to think somone got a kick out of doing this horrible thing. I dunno. Sickness and badness comes in so many ways, you really don't know what to think or understand with some of these situations, hmmm? Hope they find Toga soon, safe and sound, and still in good health, too.
  3. "Curious Question(s) of The Week" Do any of you guys keep any kind of stats lists on your various (and many, I might add, from observation) libations of liquid refreshment? Just curious, cause I am constantly amazed how any and/or all of you have the information so well in your captions. So on that, my follow-up to "the above" I guess would be, how many actual different brand labelled brews do you think (or know) you go thru in a month? Or should I ask, maybe in a week?
  4. Fantasmic - Disneyland / March 1996
  5. saw Brokeback Mountain this afternoon... Wow. Amazing and intense film. Very awkward in parts. As it should be. It's quite something to see, really. I don't think we expected how smartly it was written, for all of the characters, not just the two male leads. Ledger and Gwyllendahl (sp?) should both get award nominations. And it definitely is a director's film, so Ang Lee should get a few noms for awards, himself. Excellent film.
  6. "The dude" on the banknotes, is Canada's first Prime Minister, John A. MacDonald.
  7. Well considering you have to hush hush about the submarine ride there too, good luck buddy! Unless of course, he's already seen the construction walls there at DL. And this is in Paris, so it might take Gavin a weeee bit longer to find out about it, heh heh. But thanks for the "heads up."
  8. It looks fantastic! And you got a loop in there, right at the end of it all. Good going! Looking forward to the video. Will make it a tradition to do, now, heh heh.
  9. If you check on the previous page of this thread (#4), you'll find the (rough) schematics of the attraction itself, plus a photo of the actual coaster that will most-likely be contained within the main show building. And here's another pic from the video, which actually shows more color and contrast to the 'overview' showing that the larger blue rectangle is the coaster, itself. Lift hill on the left there, will be where the sub 'lies'. I love it . A bit fuzzy, but you can compare and get the general idea of the layout and "environmental experience."
  10. ^ And here's my Holly-Daze Contribution, for now... (Got it in an e-mail greeting from an Aussie bud of mine.) Says enough for me, heh heh heh.
  11. I just discovered this section of photos taken from a video presentation, some of which haven't been seen by me (at least) before. And in downloading the first video (Sept.12th posting), you get the 'backstory' of how the attraction starts out, etc. What I found the most interesting, was in how the lift hill played into it all! I always wondered how they were going to 'theme' that lift hill, and I do believe they've figured it out, heh heh. http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=256&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60 The video catches and the stills are by Baloo aka Ant, at Photos Magiques. Here's the pix of the "submarine" that you travel thru before hitting the 'current'. And hey - you even meet Bruce and his buds thru it too! And now we join Crush and his buds for a 'tour' of that Australian Current.... (o: There they are! Bruce and his buds, wishing us well, on our journey with Crush... This is continuing up thru the sub - did I say 'up thru'? Here's where we enter the sub. Note the angle? Hmmm.....
  12. "My First Shuttleloop" One of the Very First Tidal Wave (then) Marriott's Great America Santa Clara, CA
  13. Definitely time to lock up The Holiday TPR Shoppe, fah lah!!!
  14. Haha, you're welcome! Damn, Elissa thinks I'm sexy, and Robb tried to marry me at Thorpe Park this year. What's happening to me? Next, comes the Adoption Paperssss.....
  15. Even tho we've had a few glitches here and (mostly) there with our cable hookup - - - unless you're really willing to put up with sudden dis-connections (which I'm sure you're not, hmm?) mostly weather-related.... Cable's the way to go. Digital cable would be even better. But like others suggested, do your "comparison shopping," take yer time, and really REALLY make sure you've got all the info. you need (on paper too, doesn't hurt) about cost, guarantees, repair costs for parts, etc. Mmmm, such a busy, busy houselife you're getting into now. Enjoy the ride.
  16. Hmmm. Could be. Could be there. "Where everything is possible, and nothing makes sense." (a musical quote) Hey - Name This Coaster Contest! (other than FrightFlight, it's actual name)
  17. OMG!!! That's too funny!!! First pic, lenore looks like, "Who, me?" or "WTF???" Priceless, the look. I immediately laughed out loud.
  18. Anything Can Happen (If You Let It) Original London Cast Mary Poppins
  19. Thanks for sharing the trip, gisco. I was in Japan in 1972 and only got to ride what was there at the time, in FujiHighland Park (or whatever's near the base of you-know-what). Can't even remember the coasters, been so long ago. But I must tell you. I think we now have a coaster we can safely call The GAY COASTER . See below. Hmmm? And with friggin' fake lavender palm trees there, too! So choice, yubetcha. Hey, there's even a soft-cornered triangle there! Who knew? Color scheme and positioning says it all, bois and gurls.
  20. Looks great, guys. I thought all the No-Gavin Gates were a nice (and necessary) touch. This is still their stuff tho, right? And man, you could build a mini-coaster all around that deck, hmm?
  21. It is a bit of a giggle, watching that vid, seeing the first one (ahem) not quite working??? All things considered, yes the Japanese are miles ahead of everybody in most things electronic, etc. And dealing with huge crowds of peeps is certainly one of those challenges for efficiency and (at the same time) good security. IMhO
  22. And I forgot to add ( yourself)... Had a brew still in the fridge. Decided to partake of it... Okanagan Spring Brewery Lager 'Premium' Not bad. As a lager it didn't taste as heavy as I've found some to taste. No big deal. Probably won't buy again. Hey - I live off my par-tay left-overs, wink wink. It's okay. Nothing spectacular, but a nice lager.
  23. I will IGNORE the obvious diss 'bout me an my eahs (hmmmmph Mr.DRx), and just say... YAY 4 CANUCK STYLE! Can't go too wrong with Molson's, really. IMhO
  24. ^ Okaaaaay? :? then  and then finally WTF??? But really a then a Woot woot woot. 8)
