By "Cloverfield type movies" do you mean the way it's shot? Because District 9 isn't like Cloverfield at all. There are some 'shaky cam' moments, but they're done really well and are only used mainly in the beginning of the film as 'breaking news reports' and things like that.

I saw District 9 yesterday and I thought it was INCREDIBLE. I left the theater absolutely in awe. It was a perfect combination of great action, meaningful story, and pure creativeness. Best movie of the summer for me. I think what made it so amazing for me was the emotions it made me feel. I was disgusted at how us humans handled the whole alien situation, I felt sympathy for the father and son aliens, and I cringed/chuckled at the bodies being blown up/limbs being ripped apart. The last shot of Wikus making that metal flower for his wife... that's what really got me. I'd write a novel on how much I enjoyed the movie, but I'll spare you the time and stop it right here. I hate to give movies 10s.. so I give District 9 a 9.9999999. It was awesome, go see it!

I went into G.I. Joe expecting it to be horrible, but it wasn't bad at all. I found myself giggling and rolling my eyes a lot of times at some of the corny dialogue, but the cool action scenes and special effects made up for it. It's really a great nonsense action flick. I'd give it a 7-8 out of 10. I'm pretty stoked about District 9 tomorrow... was planning on doing the midnight release but I'm in school. Urgh.

Even after the countless times I've been on it, Supreme Scream at Knott's makes me nervous every time going up the tower. After it drops, I'm totally fine.. but it's the suspense you get from going up the tower so slowly and waiting a couple of seconds at the top. Zippers make me really nervous as well, they just don't feel/look safe to me.

Better Theming or More Track
FitchCoaster replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I prefer a ride with lots of track, but if you can mix both good theming with a great, well-paced ride... well that's great too. I think TS:TR is a great combination of the two. It's a short ride, but it's not too short where by the end it has you thinking, "that's it?" The theming adds to the ride experience, but even if it didn't have the theming, it would probably still be a solid ride. It's a nice balance between quality ride and quality theming. However like others have said, it really depends on the ride's location/what type of ride it is. You expect more theming from Disney, and you expect more track from Six Flags. In general though, I prefer more track. -
Quoted for truth! Our whole band was sunburned by the end of the week, lol. Our band camp was 8am-8pm and ended just this Friday. It was pretty much hell (marching/playing 12 hours under 100+ degree heat, not fun), but hey band kids make things fun, I'm sure anyone in band here would agree, lol. Fisher, you're going to have a blast. Band camp can seem really intimidating at first, but it's really fun once you get used to everything. Hope you have fun. Just curious, what's the 'themes' to everyone's shows this year?

What is your next park?
FitchCoaster replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Knott's this Sunday if everything works out.. and probably Knott's a few times after this weekend to check out Haunt progress. Then Knott's several more times in October for Haunt itself. Basically my next park is going to be Knott's until after Haunt, hahah. -

Halloweentime at Disneyland
FitchCoaster replied to ECZenith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ It's hard to say... I mean the major attractions being closed sometimes doesn't bother me at all, but maybe it's because I can pretty much catch the ride open another day easily since I'm a 'local'. However we do bring family members from other states to Disneyland occasionally and when a big attraction is closed, it's not much of an annoyance because there's always other fun things to do. About waiting 'till DCA is fully complete, that's not going to be until 2012, so if you really want to go next year, I'd at least wait until World of Color debuts. Right now, that area is full of construction walls, but next year there will be far less walls in that area and you'll have an amazing new show to watch. -

Party Foul by Danger Radio

About the World of Color theme song rerecording, I don't like like it either. It really doesn't fit in considering that whole show's soundtrack will probably be orchestral music. However Steve Davison did say in the video that they will be using the original recording to open the show, which leads me to think that the "Cheetah Girls"-sounding recording will only be used for exit music? Like how they play music after the fireworks at Disneyland? It sounds like it would be perfect for that. I'm way too excited about World of Color, I hope to be there opening night. People keep saying it's the "Fantasmic killer" and that it's going to show Fantasmic some competition. If that's even slightly true, that's amazing!

The whole thing is hilarious, but the 'goodness' starts at 2:44. I love this woman, hahahaha.

I remember the exact same thing happening in line for Xcelerator when I went several weeks ago. When did this happen? We were probably there at the same time. -

Haha I've thought about that idea. While it's a great idea I doubt Disney would ever do that... ever. But it would be awesome if they did. Imagine scares like you get at Knott's or USH, but with the quality theming of Disney. My imagination is going crazy, haha! But like I said it's never going to happen. I'm excited to see what to do with Ghost Galaxy, though. A Halloween themed ride in the Space Mountain building sounds amazing. -

^^ I love Holst's Jupiter. Great piece of music. One of my favorites is Symphony No. 10 by Shostakovich.. it's so intense and never lets up! Another great one is The Unanswered Question by Charles Ives, gah.. it haunts me. The trumpet "asks" the question - the meaning of existence, while the woodwinds don't provide a clear answer, they somewhat mock the question by the end of the piece. It's such a simple pice, but a great concept and it just really creeps me out, haha. Other favorites of mine are Second/First Suite by Gustav Holst. Two of my favorites to play in band, and the music is just really incredible, from how it's written and just how musical each piece is.

I had a good laugh at this one on Six Flags' new TS:TR on Facebook. They put the "TAKE THE TUNNEL!" clip of the ride audio in the video just before a train enters a tunnel.. "Did I miss something....like you have a choice to take or not take the tunnel?" I'm sorry, I just had to giggle at that. Hahaha. -
The "Say Something Random" Thread

69 days until Haunt! Yes! -
I haven't read the books or anything so I had to go off of what the movie presented. To be honest, I came out of the movie more confused than when I went in, hahaha. But really, I think it's just because I was focusing on the pure EYE CANDY of the movie! The art direction was amazing, it's definitely the most 'beautiful' movie out of all the Harry Potter movies, probably even one of the most good looking movies I've seen. I kind of want to watch it again so i can really focus on the story this time, but yeah.. go see this movie! Even if Harry Potter doesn't interest you at all, I can see people enjoying the film for the visuals alone.

As if I couldn't be any more excited for the upcoming Halloween season.. man! Lol. I was nervous about this at first, because I just didn't get the whole 'ghosts in space' deal. After reading about it more, it sounds really promising. From what I read, the Hong Kong version is great and the story the comes with it actually works, so that has me excited. I'm (probably one of the only.. lol) a Rockin' Space Mountain fan, so I guess another Space Mountain overlay is good. I'm excited for the new Halloween fireworks, also! I find it intriguing that Jack is going to be narrating..
