Agreed. I have to admit I was rather shocked when I found the logo yesterday. Not very often I'm impressed by Cedar Fair's choice in graphic work. -

^^^ Any park would "gladly" have taken it. It's about where it would fit. I could see this being intended for Dorney. Plus, we've been talking about that in this thread for the past couple hours. -

Well, I don't think that the extra 5 feet would have cost that much money. So, it all comes down to protecting Cedar Fair's crown park, Cedar Point. You don't think it would cost that much more, based on what? This not only would increase the lift height, but drop height, which means faster speed which effects the size and spans of further elements, and overall track length, let alone space it would take up, with more footers, etc. I could go on. More steel, more land, more construction = more money. I could easily see the extra 5 feet in height to overall cost .5 to 1 million dollars more. -

The Cedar Fair web developers aren't very good at testing their landing pages... as the Facebook Like button still posts a link to http://mypark.canadaswonderland.com//cw_t12/landing/ on your wall when you click Like on the countdown page... tisk, tisk. -

Calm down there killer. Good to hear that overall CoasterMania was good this year. Wish I could have been able to make it this year. -

Wow, I'm shocked. That new POV looks a lot smoother than the first POV that was posted a while back... Smoother and easier transitions. Hopefully this can actually open sometime in the next 10 years, and maybe I'll make a trip down. -

I agree with the breakdowns... though Millennium's wasn't as much a breakdown as they removed the blue train for a little while until the line started to kick back past the ramp, then they went to 3 train operation... that was the only downtime I saw on MF all day. TTD however was down after about every 4th launch, and pretty much closed up shop by 4pm. Maverick was also up and down every 15 minutes... Finally did get a ride after the 3rd attempt to wait in line. Iron Dragon seemed to close up shop about 2 hours early, and only started testing at right before close. As for the question about why Snake River wasn't open... I don't believe they usually open both SRF or Thunder Canyon prior to June, or Memorial Day weekend. Yesterday was extremely hot, sunny, and humid. Felt almost like an August day rather than a day in May. Pretty good day overall: 5 laps on Millennium (found new love in the back 2 rows of the train... seem to fly faster than I remember in the back) 4 laps on Rapture (err Raptor) 2 laps on Mean Streak (as stated by a couple of other people, giving better rides this year) 2 laps on Magnum (after early morning downtime) 2 laps on Gemini (good to see it running two sides after the valley) 2 on Disaster Transport (which unlike other peoples complaints of no lights, makes the ride seem faster and more fun for me) 1 ride on Maverick (ran fast, loved the back of the train for the first time) 1 ride on Wildcat 1 ride on Wicked Twister Even got a chance to ride some of the lesser ridden rides due to wanting to screw around and just enjoy the day... Including Paddlewheel, the Antique Cars, and Cedar Downs. -

Demon Drop was removed prior to last season, which left the area where it stood completely vacant until they moved Ocean Motion into its spot this past offseason to make room for Windseeker. Just visited yesterday... Awesome day beyond the following few things: Windseeker was still not open (expected), however they were lifting the carriage up and down the structure all day. Maxair was still down, with only one time I saw anything resembling work being done to it... Love the ride, sad that it wasn't working yet. Maverick and TTD were not up more than an hour at a time... TTD closed for the day around 3pm, never did get a ride. Other than it being pretty hot yesterday with no water rides open other than Shoot the Rapids, the crowds were rather minimal, allowing 5 rides on Millennium Force with no waits exceeding 15 minutes for it (3 walk-ons at the end of the day). The longest wait of the day was Maverick at about 40minutes. -

Ummm, hello? It's the same letter type that ride has ALWAYS had. It may have a different color now, but why are you whining about something that they not only kept consistent, but actually embellished and made nicer? The real difference (to me at least) is that it's not mounted over an antique looking map. Maybe it just looks a little out of context now. It is definitely not the same typeface. Same "old" style, but definitely a different typeface (which is easily seen with both photos side by side). Regardless, the new sign doesn't look bad, it just looks like they decided to over-stylize the words, when the old sign did a good job of displaying the almost "Olde English" style the ride and area tries to provide. From what I have seen, the new area looks awesome, and it's good to actually see the ride given some love. I guess I'll see it for myself in about a week. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

There are only 415 numbers between 0000-9999 that add up to 12, but regardless, it took me 5 minutes to set up the script, 2 to run, and 10 seconds for me to hit "sort by size" to see if there were any different emails other than the auto reply... I guess it wasn't that bad wasting 7 minutes. -

Not really... You can set up various ways for e-mails to only get through, passed to another account, send a different message, etc depending on the contents of the mail sent, whether handled by a server or a 3rd party application or program. I've had to set up ones numerous times for clients or individuals looking to use them for contests. -

Well, I created a PHP script that will automatically generate every number 0000 to 9999, sum the digits individually, and if they add up to 12, then e-mail that number, concatenated with " 3162 2037" with a test e-mail account receiving replies... After 415 e-mails, every single one that came in response was the same Auto-Reply... so I am guessing it isn't digits that add to twelve, unless it doesn't involve just "#### 3162 2037" -
Vekoma, I believe, leased the track and train designs from Arrow for a long time, and purchased some of the assets of Arrow back in 2002... Correct me if I'm wrong. It's not about "ripping off and doing it better than you," because no one is claiming that these coasters are better, but more-so that they are cheaper, because they are a knock off. I've seen plenty of these knock off iPhones from China that look the same, and have the "same" functionality, but in all actually are a huge POS that don't do pretty much anything that an iPhone does. Sure it looks the same, and has a similar GUI, but that doesn't mean it works the same, or in this case, is smoother, or less painful than a traditional Vekoma, or any other model they are ripping off.

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread

Initially it was proposed to install a double dip on the 2nd hill going up, but however rather than re-profiling that hill, they decided to save cost and keep the entire upside of that hill intact, and install the double-dip at the end of the ride instead. There was also some concern whether adding the double-up on the second hill would reduce too much speed from the train, and cause it to crawl, if not valley due to changing the hill. -
Waldameer Discussion Thread
CoasterLine replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't believe that there was ever a slide there... if it was, it was removed fairly early on, as an Aerial photo of the park from 9/1993 on Google Earth still shows the green space and footers sitting there, even that early on. I have a feeling that the slide was just cut out of the budget before it was installed. I can try and talk to a couple of people I know in the front office to see if I can dig up any other information on it... -
Waldameer Discussion Thread
CoasterLine replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sara Coyne Campground wasted too much money previously to even challenge the fact that anything else was built. Every appeal to the building ordinances they filed were rejected... it was only the Environmental Board that was slowing the construction of RFII. As for Rainbow Gardens being in need of a refurb, it isn't that bad inside. The only thing that makes it look "run-down" is the fact that they have failed to clean up the facade on the outside. The rest of the building itself is in pretty good shape (albeit some cleaning and fresh paint wouldn't hurt). Waldameer does own almost all of the "trailer park" area around the current park, it is just leased out to those homes. What I see happening is the parking lot and area behind the pavilion next to Steel Dragon being removed, and expanding all of that area down the old "boardwalk" area down to the water side. The area used to be a public access to the beach, but due to liability they removed that area (about 30 years ago or so). I can't wait to see what they do. I've heard some ideas that have been passed around their offices (when my company was in a bidding war for the contract for their new website), and from what was even being talked about, I can only be excited about the next four years they have planned out. -
The Official TPR Bag of Crap Thread!

I got my Bag-o-Crap on Saturday... This joyous package contained... 1 mint, 1 TPR Pen (which works better than any pen I've ever used before in my life... ever.) 1 Legoland Billund park guide. 1 Port Aventura park guide. 1 Djurs Sommerland park guide. 1 (what I think is...) Hangzhou Paradise park guide. 1 huge piece of carpet... wait, no, nevermind I think that was mine already. Thanks TPR! Well, what do we have here...? In all of it's unpackaged, bag-o-crappy glory! -
I tried that and nothing happened. What is supposed to happen? The peep is supposed to run to the nearest Intamin and ride it over and over again. Just kidding, I really don't know. As she enters the queue for any Intamin-style ride, she says "I'm so Excited- It's an Intamin Ride!"... pretty much like in real life.

I have a feeling its exactly as was shown before in the diagram, but in reverse... the train slows down enough to have the rollbacks go from their "down" position, to them falling back towads the seats when the train inverts... For example... Rollbacks fall back "up" when the train inverts. -

Each to its own. DIV tags can be used as much if not more improperly than tables can... if you know how to use each, they are as good as each other -

^ ah, true. There are many reasons why I hate the usage of div tags alone in dynamic applications. I find tables a lot easier to format using CSS when it comes to dynamic information where everything (length wise) is fluid. If this "post template" was designed using tables, the whole borders situation would be nulled.
