  1. Mum. Well it just better be ready by 4/2/11 for KD's opening day.
  2. Yeah that was a suprise....now if only he can find a way to market the arrowbatic through his new company since Arrow was never able to get any takers on it.
  3. Me neither...the sad part is that my grandparents live in Houston and I visit them every summer...and we didn't make it to Astroworld once But does anyone know what happened to each coaster? I know Greezed Lightning is in storage and a couple of them were scrapped, but what about the others? Specifically I want to know about Batman: The Escape and Viper if anyone knows anything. B:TE sits in pieces at DL,UT sits in pieces at SFA while only the SLC was put back into operation recently at la ronde & all the remaining coasters were scrapped save for mayan mindbender & GL,which have yet to go back into operation either.
  4. I've got that on tape somewhere & IIRC CP was the main park featured, not SFMM although they did use stock footage since it was produced by discovery channel.
  5. Regarding the 4D,Arrow had 2 prototypes ready to go in their catalog but SFMM just had to go & push it by asking for a custom design, had they gone for one of the stock models instead I have a feeling that the ride wouldn't have had as many problems as it ultimately did.
  6. So much for both of the relocated ones ending up in South America. & Like Jamor I havn't heard of Stunfall having any major problems & the SFGRAM one seems to be working well in it's new location as well.I believe that, had SFI not built three of the original four all in one season no less then the ride would've been a bigger seller than it turned out to be as other parks would've worked more with vekoma to solve the technical issues instead of rushing through construction in order to open them on time. SFI had quite a few problematic prototypes on their hands back in 01 aside from the GIBs,the two flyers & the 4D were plauged with technical problems due in part to them rushing the installations & then refusing to pay the entire costs of the rides thus alienating the manufacturer's from providing the tech support needed to reduce downtime.
  7. I didn't find it too bad at all, wished it would've had the new restraints on it when it first opened as that would've put icing on the cake. The only part I didn't care for were the twisty's due to the restraints. On the intensity level 7/10. Could ride it all day. Prior to the trims being installed I found the twisties to be pretty intense & also had some major leg cramps from hitting the lapbar on the 150 foot hill as the air time there was really sustained & intense.
  8. I posted about the arrowbatic over on Arrow's FB page...that would've been an interesting concept had any of the parks been willing to invest in one but unfortunately it came along at around the same time the economy took a dump so parks weren't looking to invest in expensive prototype rides at the time.
  9. Interesting read, have you got anymore CP SOP manuals?
  10. That & judging by the huge lines for the ride during haunt I'd say that a vast majority found the ride in it's current layout to be just fine.
  11. LOL,we already have our mini SOB(cough hurler cough).
  12. What about steel phantom being completely reprofiled into phantom's revenge? so with that in mind I'd say the answer is a resounding yes.
  13. It really would be an excellent spot for something like that. To be able to see yourself level with this massive roller coaster would really amp up the effect I think. Nahh,a windseeker would look better next to DZ....not that KD's getting one anytime soon.
  14. ^Judging by the lines on the last saturday of the season so did a majority of the GP as well. Whatever changes are being made may prove to be for the better....might we be seeing just lapbars next season? It's just that when you look at a ride that appears to be in the initial stages of deconstruction it makes you wonder(or fear) that the ride is being removed after only one season of operation.
  15. Because that's all that is required by the state to issue an operating permit. I don't think this has to do with trying to find a solution to the trims on the first drop as the park will keep them in place if that's what's needed to keep the ride operational, also they don't need to remove the second hill to get to the turn as they can easily bring in a crane from the southside of the ride area & simply remove the closest section & go from there.
  16. I hope not...has anyone seen if the webcam is still operational? I've heard that not even Clint can get any word from the park as to what's going on but whatever it is I don't think it's a reprofiling job to simply change the layout,it's not as easy as ohh we'll stick a few footers, supports & new track up there" to reduce G-load.They have to run it through the computer simulations first.
  17. Yeah but wouldn't they just have brackets pre-fabbed into the track for just such a purpose? I really wonder if the layout is gonna change & if it were to eliminate blackouts/grayouts then don't you think they would've shut the ride down during haunt rather than risk any guests being injured?
  18. I've never had gray outs on the ride even before the trims were added to the first drop.
  19. LOL,Perhaps the cans are all there expecting some ERT? I use a waterproof case that I picked up at KD for my smokes, makes it so much easier than having them in my fannypak even though I hardly go on the water rides.
  20. True but look at the problems that B&M have had with their flyers? granted nothing as major as vekoma has had but still not as reliable as an invert or floorless either. Having said that B&M have been in the business for 20 years now & have learned more than enough about their product research to provide a reliable high quality ride.
  21. By the time I headed back to 305 for a night ride(passed on it) the line was all the way up to FOF.Grizz also had a line down the ramp at around 9 pm or so.
  22. Well I concluded my 2010 season yesterday with a final visit to the park for the year & good lord was it packed!! For the first time in all my years of going RY actually had a line spilling out onto the midway & don't even get me started on how 305 was last night. On the way out I asked some higher ups manning the gate if they know what's up for 2011 & said that, whatever's coming for the remaining parks in the chain simply hasn't been released but they said to keep checking the website for details.
  23. It seems like every Astroworld coaster was damaged in the removal process. Funny how the SLC spent five years rusting away at TGE & yet they managed to get it refurbished & up & running in Canada.
  24. I've pointed out several times in this thread for years that the reason attendance has been on the decline is due to a lack of new rides in the park over the years....and in regards to the lack of mechanics to fix rides:doesn't SFGRADV have a lack of staff needed to operate rides & yet they still keep getting new ones so that's also not an alltogether valid excuse.Oh & don't forget SFFT has gotten a couple of coasters in recent years so they're doing ok in that dept. Coasternerd:SFI didn't buy SFA per se,Premier parks which owned the park as Adventure world bought SFI & rebranded the park but you are right in pointing out that, when the investments stopped coming then so did the people....the locals had expected the trend of new rides that started with the SF conversion to continue but SFI ruined that by all of a sudden ceasing to invest in new rides for the park after the first few seasons.
  25. Wasn't that the same excuse made about UT? I don't see why SFI would send either of those two rides to new parks if they were damaged during disassembling....sure they could've damaged either ride during transport but if damage occured earlier than neither ride should've been shipped to either park.
