  1. I PROMISE (lots of wirtnesses here) that if this ride is a Dragon Khan killer (at least on paper), I'll fly over there to see if the Swiss duo has finally been able to put Khan out of His Throne (in my realm). Seems are not that popular among "hardcore enthusiasts". I might be the exception. I'd love to see an INTENSE multilooper like Kumba etc... not a Medusa-like forceless floorless
  2. Not here to flame at all, I think you know me enough Elissa But don't you think a ride manufacturer also builds a ride like the customer wants it ? You know how "Khan" fanboy I am (but it's the only B&M in my top 5steel, the other 4 being Intamin / Schwarzkopf ) so, maybe if a park wanted a badass intense coaster, maybe B&M would build it (old style) too ? I admit, elissa: I'm trying to convince myself too, with the alledged tallest hyper at Port Aventura in 2012. I'd like it to be at the same thrill level as Khan, Baco, Hurrakan...
  3. I'm with you on this trip Jason ! Same with Nick some posts above
  4. What I meant was, the ride looks larger in real life and the first drop looks amazing. I'm also kind of surprised (positively though) by the order of the inversions, especially since the last one seems to be the zero G roll. Excited fir this new ride...
  5. Nice pictures. I was in Germany this week too. We were on a Euro-Coaster-Road-Trip around Holland, France, Belgium and Germany, and we visited Phantasialand, Holidaypark, and Europapark, as well as the fair in Herne, to ride Olympia. Geforce is an absolute marvel, now my number 2 (close second after Khan) and Olympia will probably always be in my top 10. EP was excellent (1st visit there for me and my friends) and Bluefire is so fun I want to see Mack's future big projects...
  6. French forums and especially the guy who puts the pics (Panoramix) seem to affirm there will be NO mid course trim break. Also, expect an inversion at the exit of the tunnel PRIOR to the right hand turn before the dive to the zero G roll. I was at the park with 2 TPR friends last Friday and the pics don't do it justice. The first drop has to be seen in real life...
  7. Just back from Germany myself. Have to say I fell in love with their parks and coasters again (Exp Geforce and Olympia Looping rule !) and will probably be back for more. I'll include this nice coaster in my next itinerary for sure ! On my way to Italy for instance
  8. 2 hours for me By the way, I'll be with some TPR members at Efteling on aug 3rd, Walibi World 4th, and Toverland on 5th. If you want to join...
  9. Is it me or... I thoughtI had read that the trains would be like Behemoth's and the other recent Hypers ? It's not what is seen on the pictures below... I'm also intrigued by the fact PA is supposed to get Europe's tallest coaster, but Mirabilandia also claims to be building something really tall... The South of Europe may see me a lot next summer. But back to Port Aventura, I really hope they build an intense ride like its neighbour Dragon Khan. A "tame" B&M would seem pale in comparison with forceful Khan edit: I have surfed a little because I love this park and i am especially interested in this project. I know it's JUST a no limit thing, but the layout seems to coincide with lots of elements we have already read. So have a look at this one and take it with a pinch of salt..; here is the youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrnSLRpw5ec&feature=related
  10. I don't know about Olov, but I (Oliv') will be there for opening...
  11. Behemoth has always attracted me, but through Jason's lense, the whole park looks appealing ! I MUST go there one day, hopefully in the not too distant future..
  12. I'm also very disappointed not to see any new coaster at the park but Turbine (hopefully reopening next year... I guess with a "Speed of Sound" theme) is pure delight... Its capacity may be poor but I don't mind waiting 20 minutes for this one (I just avoid peak days) As for Werewolf I rode it some weeks ago and it is in GREAT shape, imho...
  13. Elissa, be sure you don't miss Plopsaland, then. I think TPR hasn't been to this park yet. So, in addition to Anubis, there's the all new Maya the Bee indoor kid zone opening next June !!!
  14. http://www.newsparcs.com/index2.php?choix=20&lim=25&larg=1280&haut=800&suite=5177#5177 Here ya go, sir ! By the way, out of the 2 "projects" shown on this page (here on TPR), I understand that it's not the Chemney but the tube version, that has been chosen. I forgot to mention that the permit received is valid for a 20 year exploitation of the ride ! (now, I don't want to bitch, but Walibi's technical staff has to roll up their sleeves if they want to keep it in an operating order... because, honestly I was at the park Saturday, and breakdowns or SBNO coasters like Cobra (fenced !!!)... one week after the season has started... that doesn't look too serious)
  15. Let's arrange that, Jason I have the same feeling as Brent, on this park. A bit letdown in 2008 (except for Rebel Yell) but I'd love to go back and get the missed Togo credit too !
  16. The news is out ! Turbine will apparently reopen in 2012 after 3 years of SBNO status. Of the options above, the renovation and enclosing of both end spikes has been chosen and at the town hall of Wavre, zoning documents and so on (not familiar with the proper English terms) show that the ride will reopen,, green steel tubes (take the tunnel !) will be placed to enclose the whole coaster track (no more noise nuisance for the very boring neighbours) Those documents (in French) can be seen online. If anyone wants to read them... they also state that Walibi will now have to build respecting stricter environmntal rules. I assume the coaster will feature a "speed of sound" like theme. I'm happy to see one of my babies saved (I love my Sirocco) but this probably means no new coaster at the park for a while...again...
  17. Great start to this trip report. Middle America was fantastic. And even if I would say there were more "OMG coasters" on East Coast 2008, there were so many side details that made this one even better. It's crazy, but most of my good memories of this trip are not especially coaster related. OK ! Some exceptions ! Prowler is definitely one of them. and I admit it knocked me out that night
  18. Maybe the element connecting the drop to the already there inversion could be similar to Hydra's first "inversion" ? Remains to be seen what manoever can be executed or not with the new train style.
  19. Actually there is a river running through the park, but that wasn't the problem. It was the unseen heavy rainfall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday which caused the floodings all over belgium. Larry, as far as I know, WB never had problems like this before. According to what they wrote on their FBpage, no big damages have been caused either. " Season is over at Walibi Belgium, but I remember the park flooded the year they opened Dalton Terror. You couldn't "cross" the lake to reach Flashback and Turbine but had to make your way all around the park to reach the once called "Sirocco". The little river is "la Dendre" and can be seen crossing the bridge to Vampire, as well as the 2 bridges that led to Tornado / Vertigo zone
  20. For those of you who want to see my MSC Fantasia pics, you can view my Facebook Album, which can be viewed by my friends' friends. I assume everyone here is probably friend with Robb or TPR, so you should access my album easily. Tell me if it works. My name is Olivier Waleckx. Here is the link http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/album.php?aid=247124&id=626814153
  21. Just a quick note to tell you how amazing my first cruise ever was. I cruised for one week in the MEditerrannean Sea: Marseilles, Genova, Napoli, Pompeï, Palermo, Tunis, Mallorca, Barcelona. I was actually invited by my parents who wanted to do a family trip with the kids and grandkids. I'll never be able to thank them enouygh to make me discover something I was not that much attracted to at first. But really, it exceeded all expectations. Incredible Ship (MSC Croisières, boat was MSC Fantasia, which is one of the largest and most luxurious in the world). Organization is top notch, food is delicious, staff friendly (but sometimes hard to communicate with, even if I speak 4 languages !) Shows were magical and very professional (acrobats, MJ impersonators, circus artists, Music Hall) bars more than you can use, live music everywhere, nice club (clubbing everynight) incredible infrastructures. Too many great things to list. Highlights were Pompeï where we REALLY escaped a lil' catastrophe ! Tunis was very relaxing, Mallorca and Cuevas del Drago (Dragon's Caves) in the lil' coast town of Porto Christi, and of course the city of Barcelona, with which I have always been in love. I'll probably post some pictures but you may have an overview on my FB page. in a nutshell: MSC Fantasia was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to do it all again !
  22. Thanks for those awsome pics, Nick. Sad to see this coaster's condition. I tend to be sentimental with old rides, not only woodies. I remember literally CRYING when I saw how they "dismantled" Walibi Belgium's Tornado (Vekoma Corkscrew) and even if not a huge fan of GASM, I was sad to see it destroyed recently...
  23. What I like in this project, is the fact the new zone will allow for new picture opportunities... and Khan being my all time favourite, I have to go there on pilgrimage soon !!!
  24. ^ probably meaning there is already a waiting list but which is NOT too long and may still allow people in because of drop outs I guess ? But is it also the case for North East ? I mean is there any chance someone who sends a deposit now can still take part to this trip ?
