I would be VERY happy if rodents became the permanent one. Rodents are awesome in so many ways! A rodent would look good on the shirt too.

upcoming no limits track
ShoubraStreet74 replied to a topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I understand this is your first track with Nolimits, but there were many obvious mistakes that could have easily been corrected. For the sake of simplicity, I'll just list them. 1. The station needs to be straightened out (block it and press "I" as has been suggested a few times, OR line up the pixels to the grid) 2. Brake runs should NEVER be banked, curved, or otherwise un-straight under any circumstances. You posted a link to friction wheels on a schwarzkopf coaster; that's just not the same. Even trim brakes are on a very small straight piece. The I button should be used here as well. 3. As advised earlier, you should have done the drop with one to two pieces. You made it with at least 4, which resulted in alot of unnecessary pumping. 4. I have no idea why the loops had con roll enabled, it just banked the bottom of the loop for no reason. Just to make it clear, con roll is only necessary with banking segments. rel roll is for setting the bank based on the previous segment, instead of what the program thinks is the "real" banking. Only necessary on the top halves of the loops and on vertical sections. 5. Heavy braking in the middle of the ride reflects a design problem. (Unless we're talking about MCBRs) Design the ride to take advantage of the speed, rather than killing the speed in order to make it safe. 6. The fact that you need all kinds of brakes, transport wheels, and LIM launches everywhere also reflects a design failure. Rather than forcing the train into acting the way you want it to act, take advantage of the existing momentum by manipulating the size and shape of the elements to make the most of the speed. 7. The area after the last brake and before the transport into the station looks seriously like it was thrown together in about a minute. 180 degree turns only need ONE segment, and should be taken at a consistant radius. One part of that turn caused the train to actually hit itself. Not good. Those are the basic ones. Don't worry about it, my first track was just about at the same level as this one. In time, it will get better. -
RCT3: Toooooo Sloooooowww
ShoubraStreet74 replied to b2theobby7's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^ Not necessarily true. The problem often comes when people by computers from the major companies which often put an integrated graphics card in there instead of a standard card. These integrated cards are very cheap to make and are ideal for videos, pictures, and other everyday applications. The fact is that even if you buy a graphics card that is now considered low end (GeForce 6200) it can handle RCT3 pretty well. However, those integrated cards that you get with many computers are just crap for games. What's even worse is that many computers that come with the integrated cards have motherboards that leave out the AGP slot, making it impossible to upgrade your graphics card. What you need to play RCT3 with decent frame rates is what would be considered a mid-range PC. Ideally, you could build a computer that would handle it pretty well for not alot of money, but unfortunately many people are stuck with 1 year old computers that feel "out of date" with games simply because they are stuck with an integrated graphics card and no means to upgrade it. The computer isn't necessarily "out of date", it just has a graphics card that is not meant for gaming. Just something to keep in mind the next time anyone is buying a new computer. If it comes with an integrated card (aka Intel Extreme Graphics or Intel Extreme Graphics 2) be sure it has an AGP or PCI-express slot (graphics cards come in both formats) and upgrade it with a good inexpensive midrange card. It will last ALOT longer before seeming out of date with games. -

I don't know your PC specs but I can say with some certainty that you need an upgrade. RCT3 is pretty demanding as far as graphics. Care to tell us what CPU / video card / RAM you have? That would clarify the reason for the slowness. -
Nooooo! I'm taking the SAT tomorrow (again). I just hate the whole ordeal and I'm scared of getting a bad score.

upcoming no limits track

First of all, the lift hill needs to be in 3 pieces. The middle piece should be straightened by pressing the "I" button. You would have more success with the drop if it were made up of one or maybe two segments rather than 3 you have now. Also it's usually not a good Idea to have a vertex at the bottom of a drop/hill. It usually results in pumping. -

Psyclone. Nothing else comes close. -

Wouldn't the rider capacity really suck on something like this? I mean, each train is made up of only 4 seats. -
Insanity [NL]
ShoubraStreet74 replied to CP_RULES's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
The transitions aren't bad because of the AHG. Some of the transitions are messy because of the transition from AHG to non-AHG sections. (beginning of the helix, overbank before the helix which was half AHG and half not) Also, I think there should have been a bit more filtering used on the transition to forced bank (end of the helix) and some of the sections were taken at too slow a speed (the helix area). A "bad" time to use the tools would be the first drop, which if I'm not mistaken was formed using the hill section elementary wizard and a straight piece. It's totally OK to use AHG in my opinion. It's not a "lazy" way out. When used correctly, it offers realism that just can't be achieved by hand. Just as much effort goes into a well made AHG coaster. Fairly good job though, it was pretty good. -

Oh look, a 10 year old made a crappy coaster in rct3. Let's give him $100,000. -
Yes, Nolimits can be extremely frustrating if you're new to it. I've been using NL on and off for the past 3-4 years, and it took me a LONG time to get used to it and actually make some decent creations. The advantage of this steep learning curve is that it's extremely realistic, whereas RCT3 comes out horribly bumpy and fake. It really just takes a long time to get comfortable with the program in most cases. After a while you might want to look into using tools (Elementary, AHG, etc) once you get used to the program a bit. However, simply using them won't guarantee a good result, and often they are a bit more tedious to work with than the editor. Good luck with NL!

Good NL track!

"Furio" is actually pretty good considering it seems to be entirely hand-made. BTW, if you need any help making that onride video I can totally do it. Yeah, any excuse to use Fraps... -

Pretty Good! I think it's about time for me to go to USH for the first time in 6 years -
The Wild Wild West pov from Spain had some pretty funny quotes. "Oh please make it stop!!!!.. (goes over hill) Oh is there airtime? ...Of course not! Is there roughness? Oh, YESSSS!!!"

Quicktime Versus Windows Media Player
ShoubraStreet74 replied to Thrillrider15's topic in Random, Random, Random
^Quicktime does not play *.wmv files, just like Windows Media Player doesn't play *.mov (quicktime) files. Basically, each player has their own format but doesn't play the format of the other player. Both QT and WMP play all the other standard formats (mpg, avi, etc.) as well, assuming the proper codec is installed. Because of their similarities, it really becomes a matter of personal preference, although I still don't understand how HD video continues to be used as an arguement for Quicktime when it's available in several other formats. I prefer WMP because you don't have to buy it to get the fullscreen mode and I've found that the ability to play WMV files is alot more useful. I do of course have both installed, I just use WMP as the default. -

Windows Media Player. I don't understand the HD argument since there's also WMV HD and Divx HD as well. -
Wow thats sad. I have had several rodent pets (hamsters, guinea pigs, a rat) and it was really sad when they died of natural causes. I just hope you won't be mean to the dog for this as previous posts suggested. Well, I'm glad my current hamster gets along VERY well with my pet bird. A rodent makes the ultimate pet IMO.

What next for Magic Mountain?
ShoubraStreet74 replied to TheMan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The real question is, where would it go? Excluding parking lot space I don't know where a major coaster would fit in. -
Those are some amazing photos Robb. Are the lines for Skytower always deserted like in the photos? Is there ever a long wait for it? Anyways, I can't wait for my next trip to SFMM. I've never been on Sky Tower and the views look amazing. ^^ Btw, I know Ninja has become a faded brownish-red color now, but I really don't mind it that much. IMO it looks alot nicer to me now that it's "blended in" with it's surroundings to some extent. The brighter red of the earlier photos look way too bright to me. But that's just my opinion...
