  1. I absolutely LOVE B&M, but I wouldn't want to see the Big Bad Wolf replaced by ANYthing. This rumor is NOT cool to me, at all. And besides, why wouldn't they put a new land in the area behind Festa Italia? Or between San Marco and Loch Ness? I hope BBW doesn't go but the rumor is that they want to use at least part of i t's footprint to create a new access point to the former DF area but with that coaster already gone they should have plenty of room without having to even touch BBW. Yeah, I heard about the access thing. It makes NO sense at all! If they decided to use the Drachen Fire area for something, what would be wrong with using the path that led to the area in the first place? And why would they need to tear down an entire roller coaster in order to build a path to a section that has already had paths leading to it before? I don't mean to sound flabbergasted, but I really love the Big Bad Wolf, and removing it would be a huge mistake.

  3. I never realized Gwazi was considered to be so rough. It's the only wooden roller coaster I've been on, but I really, really like it. The roughest experience I've ever had on a roller coaster was the Dahlonega Mine Train at SF Over Georgia.
  4. My record stands at either 11 or 12, and that was sum of rides of both sides Gwazi one day. If I am to count a single ride, it's 9 on Manta.
  5. now THIS is some coaster porn :]
  6. Dive Machines, Floorless, and Flyers being gimmicks? That idea to me is absolutely foreign. Dive Machines and Flyers especially; they're a kind of experience that can' t really be recreated, and make for some amazing rides.
  7. I think I kind of agree that the should come up with some of their own designs and themes. It's not quite as easy, and it may not have the same mass appeal, but there's more opportunity for longevity.
  8. Although the rides in the expansions packs were quite the letdown, I really appreciated a lot of the scenery they included. The Asian scenery from Wacky Worlds and the Dark Ages scenery from Time Twisters were both great.
  9. La Isla Bonita Madonna
  10. It's actually my cat. But I just photoshopped him a lot. [/img]
  11. I don't see how it makes any sense at all to say that a park with roller coasters on the skylie is automatically not a theme park. That kind of goes back to you not thinking IOA is not a theme park. Roller coasters and top-notch theming can and do coexist. If IOA isn't enough to convince you, consider Alpengeist. This may be one of the best themed roller coasters anywhere. In my opinion, there are three major elements that go into deciding what "theming" on a roller coaster actually is: story, scenery, and the "experience" (what explains what this ride is doing). Alpengeist has all three. The story of a ghost haunting the alpine mountains, incredibly detailed theming, and the ride itself is to be compared to a ski lift. All this, and it's not hidden away inside a building. And again, perhaps I'm just a major fan of Busch Parks (I'm a fan because I think their product is amazing, not the other way around),but it kind of blows my mind that you wouldn't consider Sea World a theme park. There are only three major roller coasters there (at the very least one of which essentially fits every possible quality of your definition of theming), side-by-side with a plethora of other shows and attractions. Have you not been to Sea World either? I don't think theming is just one thing. You can stick a ride in a building, but that doesn't necessarily make it well themed. Rides don't need to be saturated with scenery in order to be well-themed. In fact, I think rides like Space Mountain and SheiKra succeed because their theming is so simple, yet effective.
  12. Universal Studios has a Hulk Hogan ride. It's the same as the Led Zeppelin ride at Hard Rock Park.
  13. Um, what? Yeah, it basically has a mortgage on my soul. Lol. I mean like, I can't get enough. I've been going like at least once a week. I LOVE it.
  14. Wow! This thread has prompted me to start a running list of my "credits." Better I do it now than wait until later. Sadly, I only have 24 credits. I was a little miffed because coasterfanatics lists my count at 26, but it counts Space Mountain as 2, and Wild Maus (BGW) and Cheetah Chase (BGT) are separate. :/ So one more and I will have #25. Maybe this summer, I hope! ^_^ Anyway, here are the closest things to milestones I have: 1) Thunder Mountain (MK) 10) Kraken 24) Manta (I know Manta is #24 for sure, but the other two are right based only on memory, lol).
  15. I think the idea that a roller coaster needs to be basically concealed in order to be well-themed is absolutely absurd. This is why I have a little bit of an issue with Disney; they think they need to build a mountain in order to build a coaster. Are they not confident enough in their theming to be able to build something a little more out-in-the-open? And besides, the mountain isn't concealing anything; people know what is going on inside it. I think Islands of Adventure demonstrates perfectly how to have a roller coaster right in the middle of a very immersive theme park. When you go to a theme park, you expect a roller coaster to be there. I don't feel like Hulk or Dueling Dragons are out of place in the least in this theme park. I think Universal and Busch are masters at theme parks; they know how to blend thrills and rides perfectly (although I agree that the theming on Griffon was a little skimpy, but that's neither here nor there). I think Cedar Fair and Six Flags are great examples of not-theme parks. Here's one though: When Rita was installed, it really made me question Alton Towers's status as a theme park.
  16. L.E.S. Artistes Santigold
  17. God, Manta is so good. And yes, the Airtime was an amazing surprise. I've only experienced it once though, which was in the back row. My favorite though it getting splashed. It's so avant-garde, no? This ride is owning my life. I love it too much.
  18. Is it just me, or is Kumba very rough? I know it's getting old, but the cobra roll and flat spins seems unusually rough. And even The Tunnel feels shaky. Also, maybe I have amnesia or something, but a good bit of Alpengeist being VERY rough.
  19. My list changes... often. Except for the #1 spot. It's going to take something unheard of to budge. 1) Montu 2) Big Bad Wolf 3) Manta 4) Loch Ness Monster 5) Kumba 6) SheiKra 7) Kraken 8) Gwazi Tiger 9) Scorpion (BGT) 10) Dueling Dragons Fire
  20. Good evening everybody! I am a new member here. Actually, I joined a long time ago (the date surprises me), but I've never posted before. So now I'm posting! I live in Orlando Florida, and am originally from the St. Pete area. Busch Gardens Tampa is my preferred theme park of choice, and the great Montu is my favorite roller coaster.
