  1. I'll probably go on opening day and a few times during the season, especially during Halloween Haunt (which I went to twice last year). I'm a loyal P/(nothing/CGA season pass holder since 01 and I will not be ending that this year.
  2. It's official: http://www.cagreatamerica.com/news/detail.cfm?item_id=807 Interesting that they're using the concert stage. But overall very uninteresting. The most exciting is the expanded Halloween Haunt.
  3. In the blog today, there was a picture of Grizzly and a clever (?) pun. But then someone asked when the new attraction would be announced and the answer was tomorrow.
  4. Well if you want to compare going all the way back to 2000, then look at what (P/nothing/C)GA has put in: 2000-Stealth the world's FIRST flying coaster compared to Medusa, ok fair fight 2001-Psycho Mouse, Celebration Swings, new movie to the FX theater, compared to V2 (i think this one is pretty fair too, but maybe advantage SFDK) 2002-Delirium, Flying Eagles, new movie (better than V2 facelift, adv. CGA) 2003-3 new kiddy rides, new movie, complete retheme of Nickelodeon area (Adv. Zonga even though it only "ran" for like 2 years) 2004-3 large water slide, huge water playground, kiddy water play area 2005-Lazy River, 2 body slides, activity pool (adv. CGA because i'm guessing that the water park brought in more people than Shouka did) 2006-Suvivor the Ride (Advantage CGA) 2007-Wave pool (Tie..Thomas Town or wave pool. Hmmm, maybe adv. SFDK because of the wave pool incident that happened in the summer) 2008-Ice show, Firefall, Halloween Haunt (Adv. SFDK, althought I wouldn't say by much) I don't see how you can make the argument that SFDK has really added that much more than CGA in the past few years. Sure, they removed 1 instead of 2 roller coasters, but GA's Boomerang Bay has brought way more guests to the park than Stealth did, I guarantee it.
  5. I think this makes the most sense, although just a show for 09 is very lame and I also wonder where they would put it. Maybe they'll add some more Haunt stuff too in October. Or maybe a water slide to Boomerang Bay. At least those wouldn't have to be ready and open by March.
  6. From the blog: Hmmm...Rolling trash cans??
  7. Yes, PGA's Greased Lightnin/Tidal Wave was much less intense than Montezuma's Revenge. It didn't get as high up on the back spike. It was still a really fun ride and it never had a line. Wow, now that I think about it, it was removed almost 6 years ago. A lot has changed at CGA since then.
  8. You must have just passed me and my friends. We were actually on Camp Gonnagetcha when it broke down. Two of my friends and I were stuck at the top, right before the drop and the rest of my friends were stuck on the lift hill.
  9. Ya, well this is CGA's first Halloween event since 01 (and I don't even know how serious that one was). Give it time and CGA's Haunt could potentially be one of the better ones out there.
  10. Forgot my camera, but here's a long review of CGA's first HH! So 4 other friends and I went to CGA to check out the new Haunt last night and we were definilely impressed. We all had a great time and many people seemed to be enjoying their time, both scaring and being scared. Oh and I won't give any spoilers away, but this TR's going to be long so get ready....GO! First we had dinner at In-n-Out. Yummy, then we entered the park after buying 3 tickets (me and my friend have Gold passes) with the coupon from the paper. We first decided to go through the Gauntlet and we didn't know what to expect. One of the clowns scared one of my friends so much that she fell on the ground! hahahaha, then we told her that the monsters will feed off of you if you make a big deal out of it. So she got up and we all got in line for Carnevil. Carnevil: We had to wait about 10-15 minutes for it, but it was worth it. There were clowns entertaining people in line. We entered without the 3D glasses. I don't want to give anything away, but it was just as good as last year. Very long in length and the theming is high quality. 8/10 When we left that, we rode Flight Deck with a walk-on wait for the front. The ride lines were pretty much walk-ons all night, even though the maze lines were not (which i guess is a good thing). Flight Deck at night is so much more fun than during the day. Then we kept going and joined the line for Werewolf Canyon. Werewolf Canyon: Waited about the same as Carnevil. This maze has such a good storyline and amazing theming. It's also much longer than I expected and it had some good scares and acting. The atmosphere is really creepy too because it's all outside and the forest is scary at night. The maze was also configured differently than I thought. You start out over by the Orbit and they built a bridge over the dried out Rapids track that takes you over to the turntable. Probably my favorite maze of the night, 10/10. Then a quick ride on Firefall which was fun at night, but our gondola didn't flip a ton because there was like 10 people on the ride. Then we walked through Witch Doctor's Trail which was ok. Lots of fog made all of the scare zones good. The costumes here were really weird and creepy. A quick ride on Delirium and we continued through Dead Man's Cove, which was probably the weakest of the scare zones, except one time we saw a pirate chase these girls for a very long time. Next up was Camp Gonnagetcha. I had high expectations for this and was curious how they were going to pull it off. Needless to say I was not disappointed. The theming was great and the actors were very good too. The only downside was that I was sitting in the front, in a log with 5 people = soaking! Only like a 5 min line here, 9/10. Then as we attempted to dry off, we rode Psycho Mouse with a 15-20 minute line. Then my friends got some churros, popcorn, and pretzels and we joined the line for Cornstalkers, Cornstalkers: Longest line of the mazes at about 20 minutes, but it was well worth it. This maze is ridiculously long and had some really good scares. It was also completely outdoors, which added to the creepiness. The length also adds to the suspense because there are some really long periods where you are just waiting for the next scarer in anticipation. It also does a good job of splitting people up, which ended up in one of my friends being followed ( ) Good acting, long maze, creepy atmosphere = 10/10. We backtracked to Drop Zone and got a quick ride on that. Then we continued through The Underground which was a pretty good scare zone because it had a lot of actors in your face! Then we decided to ride the Demon, but one of my friends was so terrified. We sat there in the line watching the ride go down the first drop for about 30 minutes (with a lot of peer pressure ) until he decided to ride finally. He was at first terrified of the drop and loops, but after the ride he LOVED it! See what some positive peer pressure can do! Continuing on, we ended up at Slaughterhouse. No line for this so we pretty much walked on. This one had a couple good scares and the theming was good albeit disgusting at times. One actor followed my friend for a long time which was hilarious. Slaughterhouse gets an 8/10. For the last maze, Club Blood, we had to wait about 10 minutes. There were some REALLY good scares here, but the story was kinda weird because all of a sudden the scenery changes from the club scene (which was great due to the hot vampire chicks ). After the beginning it wasn't really scary, however during the whole maze the scenery was pretty good. It also felt really short compared to the others. I recommend doing this one first instead of last. 6/10 Then we had about an hour before being picked up so we decided to go through another loop, doing all of the mazes again. Carnevil the second time was pretty good and a walk on. We all agreed that Werewolf Canyon was better the second time around. There was also a chainsaw guy the second time and one part where I could not see anything ahead of me because of the massive amount os fog. Cornstalkers the second time was not as fun, but still got a couple scares. Then we finished the night with a ride on Demon for my friend who loved it. We didn't have time for another Slaughterhouse or Club Blood run. Overall we all had an amazing time getting scared and just having fun! One thing that was different from Carn-Evil last year is the spacing in between groups. At the beginning of each maze, they have a person with a stop watch so that one group doesn't get the effects spoiled by a long line of people ahead of them. Also in the mazes, if your group got too close to another, the actors would find a way to stop you and just get in your face for a while. I highly recommend going this year because CGA really does have a good haunt on their hands.
  11. I like both, however it depends on the manufacturer for the normal mouse ones. I can not stand the standard Mack mice. Slow and overbraked and overall not fun. However Psycho Mouse by Arrow is very fun and has little braking. Spinning mice I went on Primeval Whirl and Rajun Cajun last summer and they were both fun, but a tad painful.
  12. Went back on Tuesday and I've already had 4 tests and I have a test and an in-class essay tomorrow. 11th grade: 1st (1st semester)- American Classics 11H (english) 1st (2nd semester)- HumanitiesH 2nd- Spanish 4AP 3rd- Symphonic Band 4th- Analysis H (pre-calc/CalcA) 5th- AP U.S. History 6th- Physics A 7th- Prep/free
  13. I have gotten some really good snappage on the CGA Flying Eagles. One time it was really scary because it was bobbing up and down so much. All I do is move the fin all the way to one side until the flyer reaches a maximum height and then very quickly move the fin to the other side.
  14. Great America used to have a bunch of gum on Grizzly's brake run, but they have cleaned it off a little. Same with the gum tree in line for Rip Roarin Rapids. There's still some pieces, but not nearly as many.
  15. ocresort.freedomblogging.com/2008/08/01/disney-raises-ticket-prices/#more-1086 One day tickets are increasing by $3, the 2-day tickets are going up $11 and the 3, 4, and 5-day tickets up $10! Buy your tickets now if you plan on going this year! When will it end! (never)
  16. Actually I do think that CF is more committed to the park than Paramount was. They just added Firefall, not just a flat ride, but a heavily themed flat ride. I highly doubt that if they did not care about the park they would put in something like Firefall. Plus, they are actually trying to get the coaster in, it's not like GL where they didn't have any additions except water park and cheaply placed flats. Introducing the Halloween Haunt and the ice show this year also helps me to believe that CF values this park. Attendence (in the days that I've been) has been up, especially compared to these past years. I have a hard time thinking that CF would sell the park.
  17. I agree about Giant Dipper at SCBB. Here's some which haven't been named yet: -Ghostrider's is pretty fun -Demon (at both SFGAm and CGA) with the tunnel and the voice I would also say Powderkeg at SDC, considering that most of it occurs before the lift hill, but I haven't ridden it.
  18. I'm sure they could make one for people with plenty of money.
  19. By staying onsite, you are entitled to Magic Mornings (early entry) to Disneyland Park on Thursday and Saturday (the other days are Sunday and Tuesday in case your dates change). During MM, you can ride Space, Buzz, Nemo, and most of the Fantasyland rides.
  20. Weekdays the park is seldom crowded and lines, especially towards the evening are pretty much walk-ons on most attractions. Weekends, lines can build to about 30 (45 if it's a major or special event weekend) for major attractions.
  21. I noticed this too because I rode it on Memorial Day Weekend when it was flipping a ton and then I went on Monday and it was braked like crazy!
  22. Hey what school do you go to? The 8th graders at my brothers (my old) middle school went on Monday too. He goes to Jordan Middle School in Palo Alto.
  23. Is the employee lot in the back ever completely full? Plus even with the woodie, they could tear down the IMAX Theater and there's tons of space over there.
  24. That sounds exactly like my trip last year, except I went on a Monday night/Tuesday day July 30th and 31st. For the evening, I rode half of the credits, so the next day was getting rerides and front rides and any other credits I might have missed. I was at the park from like 3PM until closing and got in: -Blue Streak (5 min wait for front) -Raptor (45 min wait for front) -Disaster Transport (25 min wait) -Wicked Twister (20 min wait) -Iron Dragon (20 min wait) -TTD (60-75 min wait) -MF (75 min wait at closing) Along with many other flat rides. Then the next day I woke up for Early Entry which I highly recommend that you use for MF or Maverick. The only really long lines (60+ min) are for MF, TTD, Maverick, Raptor maybe, and maybe the water rides if it's really hot. However you are going on a Saturday and that will probably be more crowded. Get there early, ride the rides with long lines first and last and you should be fine.
  25. 14/20 but like 5 of those were good guesses.
