While it did update DCA's lame ride collection, I do not think that ToT at DCA is one of the most popular attractions in the resort. Even during peak seasons, it almost never has a very long line. In Orlando, the FPs run out by afternoon. I have never seen DCA's ToT's FP run out including visits in the summer, President's Week, and before Christmas. It's not a dud, but the remote location decreases its popularity, similar to DL's Winnie-the-Pooh.

Does V2: Vertical Velocity have an inversion?
KGA29 replied to ItsDavidU's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You're right, I have not ridden it. However, it absolutely does not go completely upside-down. You need only look at it to see that. It is not an inversion in my book unless a rod protruding straight out from your head would touch the ground straight on. This one would clearly touch the ground at a 45* angle. You may feel like you're upside-down (I feel like I'm inverted on regular impulses, so this one must enhance that feeling), but you are not. However, it is not upside down in regards to the ground. It is upside down in regards to the track. If you stuck a pole through someone's head, it most certainly would touch the track straight on. -
Survivor: The Ride question
KGA29 replied to Angry_Gumball's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I believe a fully loaded disk only spins a certain amount. I have seen the ride go dozens of times and, on most full disks, the purple and orange seats get up the highest and the gree/blue seats usually get the lower part of the spikes. There are sensors in the platform, but they only control whether or not the water sprays or the fire blows, not the spinning. -
Well, what DCA is going for with all of these additions, is attracting the one day guests. By adding a night show and 5 new attractions it gives more of an incentive to go to DCA even with DL right next door. So if you're going to DCA for a day, then you will have World of Color. Any other guests (APs and multi-days) have multiple days to enjoy all night shows. No problem, unless seeing night shows multiple nights is a problem.

Then why mention it? The day that Disney adds a Maverick style coaster will be the day that pigs fly. Actually I would have to disagree with you on your original statement as well. DCA doesn't need more thrilling attractions. For teens, there's Screamin, ToT, Soarin, GRR, Mulholland, and the new Toy Story Mania. Plus all of the flat rides on Paradise Pier. Every single one of these additions are all family friendly and will attract little kids and their parents who have the $.

What I mean is, it is a shock to me that they would spend so much money over such a long period of time to improve a park like California Adventure. I thought the park was thriving so I didnt think the park needed a renovation so soon. DCA thriving? According to this link (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB119257768823361264.html), DL gets 2.5 times as many visitors. The only people who go to DCA are the AP holders and the multi-day people (usually 3 or more days). They are trying to have it so that one day visitors will visit DCA and not just DL.

Awesome Valleyfair Season Pass Details
KGA29 replied to Sticky Nicky's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is similar to what GA just announced. They just changed their season passes so that all 08 passes come with free parking. The regular comes with free parking, the gold comes with free and premium parking, and the platinum is like all of the other CF platinum passes. -
Six Flags Over Texas Word TR

I agree about the Mr. Freeze line. It's not clear which way to go. Also I don't think JRS is like Blue Streak at all. I got absolutely zero air on JRS in the back row and tons of air on Blue Streak in the front row. Unlike most people I really liked Texas Giant. At least it was padded and so it the bumpiness wasn't as painful. I found Shockwave to be more painful with all of the ejector airtime. -
Does V2: Vertical Velocity have an inversion?
KGA29 replied to ItsDavidU's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have ridden it and can say for a fact that you go upside down no matter where you sit. Some cars go upside down more than others (front cars get it on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd launch, while very back seats get fully inverted only on the 2nd launch). It is an inversion. Plain and simple. -

I visited EG this past summer and thought that Mind Eraser was extremely rough and bad. Halfpipe wasn't running. I totally agree about Twister II. No airtime and just awful. I think that this park needs to get a little TLC in the back. The park entrance looks really nice and then towards the back, it looks just like a carnival. My favorite ride was Sidewinder because of the air. -
Great America Compared To Other Cedar Parks?
KGA29 replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to GA today and experienced Carn-evil. Great maze! And it was quite popular which is a good sign for the future of GA's Halloween events. I think it was the longest line of the day at around 30 minutes just after 3. Having not experienced anything like it, I thought it was very fun! I did jump 2 or 3 times. They were selling the 3D glasses for a buck, but I didn't buy them. My friend did and he said that the walls looked really cool. Other Halloween notes: -Lots of Halloween decorations. I liked the ones by Rip Roarin Rapids and Skeleton Beach at the entrance. -Flying Eagles has been transformed to Ghost Gliders and the tubs have ghost sticker decals now. The center of the ride is painted with a picture of a cemetery. The surrounding grass is full of cobwebs, vultures and coffins. -Large bubble foam thing in Kookaburra Cay looked very fun for the kiddies. Great day. Can't wait for a full fledged Haunt next year. -

Six Flags Magic Mountain Advice
KGA29 replied to californiascreamer1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Don't miss X, Tatsu, Goliath, Batman (unless you've ridden one of the other clones, though it's still a very good ride), and Riddler. Superman isn't great. Colossus, Viper, and Revolution are fun, but not extraordinary. Deja Vu and Scream are good if you get good seats (front on Scream and back on Deja Vu). Some surprises include Ninja (very fun), Gold Rusher (fast for a mine train), and Log jammer (wow, one of my favorite log rides ever). No place has great food. When I went, we ate at the food court, Panda Express, and the Mexican restaurant by Riddler. The food court was alright, but I recommend Panda Express. On my road trip this past summer, we ate at a Panda Express at 3 of the 5 amusement parks we visited (other than WDW). It's a change from the normal pizza, burgers, and fries. -
Great America To Be Sold Again?
KGA29 replied to Sean Menefee's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To quote Harry Potter 7: "Neither can live while the other survives." I think that if the stadium is built, GA is long gone. The only chance of GA staying is if the stadium is not built in that area. Plain and simple. -
They got rid of that? Good. That seemed really dumb (Although it was fitting for the theme I guess). I would not like to have to dance and chant to get on a ride. They didn't get rid of it, it's just not very many people do it because it's a little embarassing. You don't even have to do the clap or the chant. Every time I go, all I do is repeatedly jump up and down in no rhythm at all and the sensors think that it's the stomping and so it does the water/water/fire thing. I look like an idiot, but it enhances the rider's ride (especially the fire).

Farenheight's not better. 850 when RCDB says that Valleyfairs (same model) is 1000/hr. Although I doubt GA cycles 1000 through in an hour, I'd say it's around the same as Farenheight (which won't cycle through 850). And Maverick's only 1200. Even Top Gun is better. Mystery Mine is listed as 1000 as well.

TOP 5 B&M INVERTED COASTERS
KGA29 replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Alpengeist 2. Raptor 3. Any of the B:TR (I've ridden 3 though I prefer SFGAms over SFMMs over SFoT, but they are all about the same) 4. Top Gun (GA) 5. Silver Bullet Those are all I've ridden, 7. -
Maybe it's the long lost Adam's Family Vertical Drop coaster! I wish Anyone notice that Mystery Mine looks very much like what the Adam's Family coaster was supposed to be? Do you think because of the licensing thing, Paramount/CF just said "Screw it" and Dollywood picked up the plans, modified them, and boom! Mystery Mine.

Michigan's Adventure (MiA) Discussion Thread
KGA29 replied to MagnumForce's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great addition to MiA. I'm sure it will be very popular there. I also love the logo! Good job CF with logos this year! This makes GA the CF park with the longest coaster drought. -
What Onride Pictures Do You Have?
KGA29 replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Only a few: Alpengeist-2002 Timber Mountain Log Ride-? Roar (SFDK) - 2003 X- 2006 I don't really buy them, mostly make funny faces and look at them. Except GA removed a ton of theirs (Invertigo, Demon, Stealth, Top Gun now has videos). -
Are YOU a credit whore?
KGA29 replied to Purplepills's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I ride all of the major coaster (assuming operational) and most possible kiddy coasters. I won't kidnap a kid (kinda weird) and I don't count traveling fair coasters. Currently I have 110 coasters including around defunct ones. -
