  1. When we went in July, it rained like crazy and Titan's tunnel got flooded, but it wasn't nearly as bad as that!
  2. I agree. And if you lean your head to the right just before entering the corkscrews it really isn't bad. Grizzly on the other hand is just death bumpy. Vortex has smooth rides on occasion and so does Invertigo, but Invertigo has more padded restraints.
  3. I totally agree with your review about Raging Bull. It was fun, but not anything special or intense. I think it's pretty overrated. I also would agree that Viper was a surprise hit for me. I wish CGA was half as good as SFGAm.
  4. Rides that I think are worth a wait: -Titan -Mr. Freeze -Batman (unless you've ridden one of the dozen others) -Shockwave (one of the most underrated coasters out there IMO, but apparently it's down for refurb) -Texas Giant (but I am one of the few who actually loved this coaster)
  5. I agree. SFGAm has the better coaster collection by far. Plus their water park is great! During my road trip this past summer we had this exact same question (SFGAm or SFStL). We chose SFGAm and are so happy we did. I hit every roller coaster, rode some flats, and spent 2-3 hours in the water park all in one day.
  6. CGA: -Tear out Grizzly, replace it with an Intaride roller coaster (like Maverick/Farenheight). I think the park can afford to lose a woodie in exchange for a steel because of the new 09 GCI woodie. -Change the 3D motion theatre's film (It's been Spongebob for too long) -Add a Proslide Tornado and a Deluge like ride to Boomerang Bay. There's plenty of space. -Tear down the unused IMAX theater and replace it with a themed Eurofighter (like Mystery Mine or like the Addam's Family roller coaster that we were supposed to get 5 years ago)
  7. Well I know for a fact that there are more wild mouses that do that than you might think. Here's a link showing all of them: http://rcdb.com/ir.htm?model=90 As for Shockwave being the last of its kind, you're wrong again. It's the only one in the U.S., but there is one in Canada (Canada's Wonderland) and 4 in Japan still running. Back on topic, I think Zonga at SFMW (at the time) was very pointless. It ran for maybe a year with one train and a half a year with 2. Then it was demolished. Another pointless addition IMO is Firefall this year at CGA. Unless they can keep the water and fire effects going (which I doubt), then it will just turn into a Voodoo an hour down the road.
  8. Top Gun/Flight Deck "not-must-ride"? What other inverts have you ridden that are so much better. TG/FD may not be one of the longest inverts, but it is certainly very intense. And I have ridden many inverts (3 B:tR, 2 Deja Vus, Invertigo, Silver Bullet, 2 SLC's, Raptor, and Alpengeist). It's not my first choice (Alpie rules!), but it certainly deserves more credit than you gave it.
  9. Is the park even open right now? I would imagine that SFDK is going to take its time to theme up the area. SFDK opens this Saturday.
  10. That video looks great. If the theming is remotely close, then these rides will be a huge step in the right direction for Six Flags.
  11. Here's my opinion: Pros SFDK: -Better roller coaster collection (+ Tony Hawk's Big Spin, a new roller coaster) -Animals -Better shows (killer whale, bird, African acrobat, tiger, dolphin, sea lion) -Better food IMO ( Panda Express) -Better atmosphere (theming, trees, it's just more pretty) CGA: -Better flat ride collection -Better water ride collection -Water park -Shorter lines for major attractions -Longer park hours So based on that, I would recommend SFDK, unless you want to check out the water park. At CGA, it is very possible (unlike some larger parks) to do the whole water park and the whole dry park in one day.
  12. 11/20. As with many people, I guessed on a ton.
  13. The rumor on Screamscape is a Vekoma Jr. suspended.
  14. I like the end facing forwards on the first hill because you experience some major positive g's being pulled through the loop and cobra roll backwards on the return. Plus on the lift, it gives that hanging kind of feeling.
  15. I'm in. I go at least 6-7 times a year.
  16. Here's an article from the San Jose Mercury News: www.mercurynews.com/ci_8336297?source=rss While nothing much new (although the Cyber Cafe sounds cool), it does confirm the addition of a coaster in 09. More his style. Hmmmm. In the article he did say he wasn't too fond of inversions.
  17. I totally agree. I have always thought 02 was (P)GA's last good season. It seriously has gone downhill since: -Stealth, Greased Lightnin, Triple Play removal -Additions since: Nick Central (yawn), Boomerang Bay (and 2 years of "updating" it), Survivor -They haven't changed the movie in the FX theater (Spongebob can only be fun for so long). Minor but annoying part of GA. -In general the crowds have decreased a lot. Weekends aren't even that crowded anymore. You hardly ever see some of the big ride's lines long.
  18. Not really considering SF isn't exactly the most creative with ride names either.
  19. WHAT? Come on CF, why do that to us. How come Carowinds gets the better name.
  20. 6/10. I've done better. Some, I should have gotten.
  21. Much better! Also, I noticed something else on the ride's page. Ummmm, since when? Where are they getting that from? Also on the "Thrill rides" page the ride's turns (after loop and lake turn) are referred to as "afterburn turns". Nice term.
  22. Yay. Maybe I'll say hi on one of my many visits.
  23. Probably not because the "logs" are not the same. DL's is a traditional log with seats all in one row. WDW's is more of a boat that can fit 2/3 people across. The way the DL's logs are configured there is more space up front than WDW's.
  24. Another Top Gun was renamed Flight Deck, so it's not the only one (and the other ones have yet to be changed). Also a quick note an inverted coaster and a floorless coaster are different things. Both Flight Decks are inverted.
  25. I don't like this name, but nothing I do is gonna do anything about it. I'm wondering how much of the que theming they'll keep. We also have to wait to see what they do with Survivor. "Jungle Disk" and they'll have to get rid of the que theming there too. No more "I'll say Jabaroo. And I'll say Boran."
