  1. Hmm, wonder what this could be. http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4007:5158uh.3.24
  2. The Busch Gardens parks are keeping their Busch names.
  3. Yes, I understand that this is a corporate name, and most people aren't going to even call the parks by the corporate name' they'll still refer to them as just Busch or SeaWorld. If they went with SeaWorld Parks or something, that would have been fine. But the addition of "& Entertainment" just sounds weird. The previous name was just derived from the parent company, as it was created to run the orginial Busch parks. The Busch name is going nowhere as of now thanks to a long-term sponsorship agreement. There are also rumors form management and the A-B distributors that Busch III may have a small stake in the deal as a "silent partner." I much prefer the "Worlds fo Discovery" name for the parks' branding. However, the collective name for the parks has also been changed to SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. Oh well, it is what it is.
  4. Dumb name. Would prefer them to continue using the Busch Entertainment name like they said they would, or at least should have gone with the Worlds of Discovery branding.
  5. I can understand your "beef" with the event, however, I think your report is a little harsh. Keep in mind, this is the first year and you were there the first day, mistakes are guaranteed. Crowds were far beyond what were predicted and Italy opened to help relieve some of the congestion. Italy acts as the back-up plan for large crowds. Yes, putting "Deck the Halls" in Festhaus may not have been the brightest idea, but I guarantee you that management is already thinking for next year. BGW management doesn't kid around, trust me. And, the conversion for Christmas Town actually began over the summer but was not evident in the park until maybe the end of Howl-O-Scream. Also, as I'm sure with many parks, only major and mid-sized attractions are listed or shown on park maps. Sorry for the problems you experienced, If you'd like to call Guest Relations, their number is 757-253-3220.
  6. Very sad... http://www.amusementpics.com/BGWNewsNotes.htm
  7. The end of an era for BEC parks as they change hands from Anheuser-Busch to Blackstone. The rise in online, theme park media.
  8. BEC will continue to run as "Busch Entertainment Corporation" but will market the parks as "Worlds of Discovery," as they have been for the past two years. Busch Gardens will be named Busch Gardens, beer will still be supplied by A-B, but here's the worst part: say bye-bye to the Clydesdales.
  9. I'm curious as to how people say they spotted Blackstone executives touring the parks. Do they even know who they are or what they look like. What I do know is that Jim Atchison, president of BEC, had spent the past few weeks traveling to each park, touring them, and basically just getting an update on them. Could people have confused BEC's own people with Blackstone execs?
  10. Since lift #2 and the block brakes are two different block sections, it is possible for the trains to be stopped that close.
  11. In the press release FAQ, it mentions that guests will be able to see the dismantling process.
  12. ^The removal is actually supposed to finished within the next three to four months. Makes no sense to have it sitting there for two months with no dismantling.
  13. ^A bearing was actually shot in Alpengeist's lift motor, that's why it was down for a week in July.
  14. ^That did indeed happen last year.
  15. It's usually the train succeeding the train entering the station that will cause the track to shake. When you have a few thousand pounds sweeping around a curve and slamming into brakes, there's going to be some forces exerted through the structure. The track shakes in the station because it's exerting the kinetic energy of the train as the brakes bring it to a sudden halt, basically a transfer of energy. I hope that makes sense.
  16. I'll add this little fact. Friday, July 3rd was the most-visited day in the park's 34 year history.
  17. The country opening times are still printed on park maps under "Country Operating Times." The usual order is England at 9:00, Scotland at 9:30, Festa and Italy with Ireland and France at 10:00, and Germany and Oktoberfest at 10:30.
  18. BEC has not cancelled Worlds of Discovery in Dubai, it has only been put on hold.
  19. They actually are. You have to look under "Information to Plan Your Day" on the back and the operating hours of each country and major attractions are listed.
  20. The England lot is not the overflow lot, and you don't exactly have a choice of where to park unless you pay for preferred or have a platinum pass.
  21. We don't know the KD coaster will have a splashdown. The document talked about some stormwater runoffs etc, but that doesn't have to have any connection with a splashdown. For Carowinds I would guess they are getting the rumoured hyper. Kings Dominion being the only paramount park without a new coaster will probably get a GCi or something My two cents.. KD's ride will most likely be steel as well because they've already got 4 woodies, and let's keep in mind that the rumored hyper for carowinds might not be from B&M but from Intamin seeing as they've got no Intiman coasters currently in their lineup. Um, Volcano is an Intamin. EDIT: Disregard, I misread the post.
