I'm thinking going to ride Hades and going to the Parks in the Dells next year. Where is a good place to stay as I will be flying in to Chicago, any Motel 6 places What Theme and Water Parks are located in and around the Dells..? -
How many times the same ride in a day ?
verticalzero replied to mingsai's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wood: 12 times on Colossus at Heidi-Park in Germany Steel: 14 times on Goliath at Walibi World in Holland -
1st "Thunderlooper" left Alton Towers and arrived at a park in South America, now "Magnum Force" has gone to Mexico, both are amazing Schwarzkopf coasters. I went on "Turbine" 2 weeks ago at Walibi Belgium and it was as powerful launch as ever. I hope "Thriller" can stay in Europe for a bit longer. Just imagine a Park which had these 4 great coasters + Eurostar and Mindbender, the Q's would be everlasting.

CEDAR POINT AT NIGHT
verticalzero replied to DOCTORRICK's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I visited "the Point" in 2000 when MF was only a few weeks old. As soon as you get past the main gates you will be hit by the size of their coasters, it's "coaster heaven". I spent 16 hours in the Park and this was not enough, it has a magical feeling to it. All the coasters were working perfectly and the highlights where: MF - Amazing 1st drop and it's speed and the night lift lights are unbelivable. Magnum - Wonderful layout Mean Streak - Lovely design but needs to have those "Trim brakes" taken off the 1st drop. Mantis - very powerfull g's on the Inclined loop, needed a rest after 5 rides in a row. I would love to return to Cedar Point someday, as USA coasters are far better than the ones in the UK. Tip of the Day: As soon as the Park opens run to the the coasters at the "Back" of the Park as the Q's are always shorter. -
Nice pic's and you seemed to enjoy your day at the Park. You are very lucky being able to ride "Roar" as it's layout is lovely with it's twisting lines and drops. This is how a "woodie" should be. Those Penguins are love-able, did you take a couple home..

Hairy is best on a guy, somthing to rub your face into and you can pull the hairs with your teeth. I love hairy men just like wooden coasters

The people in the last photo are mad getting that close to a coaster, why don't they have fences to keep stupid people away from the ride. No wonder people that "thick" die and then the park gets sued for loads of money. What are the coasters like to ride...? Are they rough as I may be planning to visit the Theme Park next year. -
It just amazed me

If you see a barrier which is out of place or anything which looks dangerous in a Theme Park, why not tell a member of staff to see if they can do something about it. -
Nice photo's of Dollywood, i would love to ride GCI's "Thunderhead" Can I make a suggestion: for your next set of photo's can you make them smaller, so they can fit the screen size and everyone does not have to scroll to the right hand side to view the whole picture. Thank you

SOB is one lovely wood structure to look at, but why make it so rough, could the Park try to flatten out the roughness of it. Is the roughness caused by the trains, wheel, speed or just not built together correctly. Should of got GCI in build it and have a 250ft high "twister/out n back with a vertical loop" style.

Thanks for your report, did win anything on the stalls games, great to hear "Beast" is running well I visited the park in 2000, of what I can remember he is my lowdown of the rides: Top Gun - Good ride thought I would go more than vertical sideways on some corners Face/Off - did not ride it Son of Beast - very rough only 1 month old then, why build it so rough with lots of virbration..? Adventure Express - great themed coaster, weird how the lift hill is near the end Flight of Fear - my 1st "Lim" coaster, amazed at the launch to be so strong, more than "Thunderlooper" at Alton Towers UK Vortex - can't remember how rough it was, nice inversions TRTR - No Built Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle Drop Zone - never go on this type of ride Troika - ?? Beast - One of my Fav coasters, it was a wild ride esp at night with no lights anywhere and the stars in the sky. Delirium - Never -

The Orphan Rocker was built in 1988 by an Australian company. Problems discovered during testing keeping the ride from opening to the public. Since the 1990s several pieces of track were redesigned and replaced. In 2002 the wheel hubs were replaced. In February 2004 the ride is still being worked on. But no indications as to when the ride will open are known at this time. Anyone have an update on this Coaster and when it will be open..? http://rcdb.com/ig1870.htm

We must congratulate the park on selecting GCI to build a woodie. They are masters of creating a beautiful wood structure with stunning drops and fan turns. Here's to a "Crystal Beach Cyclone" or "Rye Airplane" re-make. I have never ridden a GCI Coaster and this will make me start saving for a trip to the Park next year. -

verticalzero replied to calcajun's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Anyone who works in a Theme Park should be able to speak the native country language, i.e English There should be safety barriers near the track if it goes near ground level. It's common sense not to go near a coaster or any other ride, just like using a crossing on a road or Railroad. You have to be quite dumb to climb or be playing near/on the coaster tracks. It's not the park's fault if someone get's hit as the signs are there about the warnings. -

Best coaster ride when raining
verticalzero replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wishmaster - You can't really compare Robin Hood to Zeus as they are different types of wooden coasters by different companies. Robin Hood is a more Out n Back Coaster Of course Zeus will be faster as it is a more twisted compact layout and it is built by Custom Coasters Inc who also build Megaphobia in Wales UK. I have been on Megaphobia and this is a great USA design coaster, lots of Airtime (standing up in the back seats down 1st drop), I have not been on it's brother Zeus but planning to visit it soon. -
I rode "Colossos at Heide-Park Soltau" last year and I found it to be very smooth until you get to the downward helix which starts to get rough then it goes smooth again for the 3 rabbit hops back to the station. This coaster produces the most amount of Airtime on the outward hills I have ever had on any coaster, again you can hear the "upstop" wheels when going over the large hills. I'll have to save for about 6 months before I can afford the flight/hotel and transfer costs to ride "El Toro" as I live in the UK. It does look a very nice design/layout and i'm sure everyone who rides it, loves it. I wish I lived nearer to the park.

What is the coolest coaster name?
verticalzero replied to Hilltopper39's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The coolest name for a coaster would of been "Banshee" but Cedar Point used "Mantis" instead. "Pepsi Max Big One" is dam right lazy name. Phoenix" is the best coaster name as this was an-amazing achievement by the Park to relocate the coaster all those miles apart. I like "The Rocket" name, the coaster would have to have a "Thunderhead / Shivering Timbers" layout to live up to it's name though. There is a Coaster in Denmark called "Hundeprut" which is Danish for "Dog Fart" -
Wild Mouse at Blackpool lives up to it name as you bounce down the drops, still lots of fun. Any "Hang n Bang" Vekoma coaster is quite rough. I wonder why SOB was created to be rough and to have lots of Vibration.
