  1. Corkscrewed, you have taken some fantastic pictures! The waydd update was pretty funny, was that a monkey from a barrel of monkeys game?
  2. Artist: Modest Mouse Album: The Fruit That Ate Itself Song: " " (Track 4 has no name, yeah, they are weird.)
  3. Yes, I had a good time, but nothing special, thanks for asking. Do you like SPAM?
  4. ^ Is headed for cavities < Is headed for Nagoya in 36 hours \/ Is headed for a breakdown
  5. Shoot the hostage. Next question.
  6. I figured I'd avoid making suggestions unless he asks. If FlipDude has seen the videos, I figure it is only a matter of time before we see Joey (Jew) and Dan (Non-posting, non-water liking diabetic Dan)
  7. I'm not 100% sure, but you may have been at Fuji-Q the same day I did my April construction update. (You and your travel companion look familiar.) I'm looking forward to another opinion of all the Japanese parks and in part 4 you went to a park I haven't been to.
  8. In that case, I wonder if Double Loop was still there? (No one knows the closure date, so I was trying to narrow it down.)
  9. ^Er, they went vertical back in January! If you say that it was not visible, than they followed the same 'rules' that the park seemed to place on the Japanese crews: No shots allowed of the new coaster, unless inside a building and the ride was visible through a window. (I saw it in shots inside Fujiyama's station and from inside the hotel. Interesting.
  10. Pull through on a woodie? Are you sure? Sounds weird.
  11. So, was the construction prominently displayed, just happening in the background or completely off camera? I'm curious how it compare to the Japanese programs filmed there lately. Incidentally, the first POV of Eejanaika will likely be part of a morning show, but most of the camerawork will be reverse POV of the rider.
  12. #5! Great howls of laughter! Guy: Consider yourself "done"! The best part is you are prolific, FlipDude! Keep it up, and keep them coming! (It's my new favorite thread!)
  13. I just was informed that the symbols in the circle are the first two katakana in the name Eejanaika. The two Kanji above the circle actually mean Baptism. Interesting. Maybe the name's not a joke after all. (The first two katakana, (The circled pair) can be turned upside down (as demonstrated on the Eejanaika website) and still mean the same thing.
  14. ^^Are you actually a Swede who can read Japanese? That's so cool!
  15. Well, it seems to be back. Thank goodness! The withdrawal symptoms were getting pretty bad! I was getting ready to buy stuff on eBay!
  16. Yes, Erik, the opening date is 19 July. I do believe that the japanese year does end in 18, as well.
  17. OK, post update wrap-up: I don't think that I forced Fuji-Q's hand to announce this attraction in any way. I will say that the first three times I went, I had an amicable time chatting with site workers about the construction of the new ride. This time, I was barred entry into the small parking area for the construction workers, the security seemed to be looking for me and turned me away, the workers gave me 'dirty looks' and I sincerely think that they were watching for me to do something illegal. I took my pictures and a little video and left. I wish that soemone could have explained to me why the different reaction to my presence this time though. I had harbored a fantasy that if I was going to be around the week that this ride opened that I would have recieved a nice welcome. Apparently not. I don't know why the park was closed, but it was Tuesday, and it is possible even likely that they are normally closed on Tuesdays in the 'low' season. It was a little rainy and cool, anyway so I doubt they would have had much buisness anyway. Now I'm going to see about uploading this little video I shot. My next and final CONSTRUCTION update will be sometime after the TPR UK trip, but before 1 July. I won't get to ride until September, so if anyone beats me to it, feel free to post a ride review! I will either way once I get to try it out!
  18. I got all 30 odd pictures uploaded in my Eejanaika update, but it was acting a little hinky. Hopefully it will all pass again soon.
  19. Keep it up, FlipDude! (I was hoping that you would keep them all in one thread for easy 'reference' though.)
  20. Continued! (I hope no one squeezes in between the pictures this time!) There's still a lot of work yet to go. Good luck guys, and great job so far! Does anybody have any idea what these markings are for? They are under a low point in the track, so I'll be surprised if the queue or plants end up here. So close, but yet so far. Ooh, it's dark in the station! The catwalk supports have been added to this portion of the track. OK, the Overbank just looks rediculous from up here! SO close to being an inversion. But it's not. That's a LONG, SHALLOW lift hill! Stanley seems not to care that he's surrounded by the coils of the dreaded Eejanaika! Look out Stanley!
  21. Well, I just got back from Fuji-Q. It was closed, so in some ways it feels like I only have half an update. (No shots from the ferris wheel, near Pizza-La: The Ride, the patio or from near the splash boats.) The good news is that track work is about 90% finished, so the layout is easily identifiable: Station Right 180 turn Lift 'Dip' Vertical Drop Inside Raven Turn Full-Full Massive Overbanked Turn (left - 180) Half-Half Outside Raven Turn @ 20 foot upslope Downhill Brake Run Station The only track not yet installed is the top trestle of the lift, the lift peak, the first half of the dip, the brake run and the section between the outside raven and the brake run. I do not know if the transfer track is installed, but the track for the loading platform is there. I found George! (The weirdest support ever got stranger when they put it in!) The supports continue to be insane. Still no sign of the trains, but with the station completely covered in black walls, it is possible that they are inside already. I also shot a little video. After I'm done with the pictures, I'll see what I can do with it. (It's the first time using my new video camera.) (I noticed that a couple of my pictures are only slightly different from each other. I'm going to post them all anyways, as unlike a certain orange B&M, it seems like I'm the only person doing construction updates on this coaster!) On to the pictures! EXTREME ZOOM! Catwalks for the lift hill and some other supports. I didn't see any unlifted track on site today. The station is looking huge and very black. (You can see some touched up supports in this shot, too.) I still can't get over the odd support structure. There were two crane crews in operation again today. A bit of electrical wires? This is where I parked my car. I put my video camera away before going up the stairs. You can see that there is scaffolding inside the station, too. The station has recieved a LOT of attention. The supports seem to have recieved a lot of rubbing. The BEEFY and MEATNORMOUS supports are getting out of hand here! These ones look a little top heavy. I must have really gotten someone in trouble! They wouldn't even let me into the little parking lot this time! Oops! (Page 31 for details!) Maybe some airtime into that Half-Half? This would be one of those angles that make the overbank look nearly inverted. There will be catwalk all the way from the station to the top of the lift. You can see the attachment points on the side of the spine. Highland Dormitory. I don't know what it is, but the spiral staircase on the end provides a great vantage point for Eejanaika construction photos! An uncommon sight: Flat 4D track. Lightning rod #3. I wonder where #4 will go? Hmm... Pretty shot of the day. Last month these branches were covered in Cherry Blossoms (Sakura). This month, the Overbank is the star! Eejanaika's lift hill has the same trestle structure as found on X. There are only two here though. Meh, the Full-Full is OLD news! The lift hill is almost where it's at! From the train station side of the overbank. I don't enjoy the caption: "A closer look" so I'll just tell you that the only thing on here I can read is Eejanaika. (It's above the circle.) Every single one of the construction signs now has a sticker slapped on it. Now we know what the extra footers are for and where the lift chain motor is. Looking up the lift hill is so much more satisfying with track in place, isn't it? Hey, look! There's George! He looks even weirder installed, doesn't he? I will still pet him and love him, though! The supports are asymetrical because the lift starts up under the overbanked turn. There's an escape ladder, but it doesn't go all the way up. Weird. And that's DEFINITELY overbanked. (There's one angle where it almost looks like an inversion, but it's not!) No use beating around the bush! Here's the Half-Half!
  22. I intend to ride the older woodies on my first ever trip to HW. I don't want to be let down after riding the big boy.
  23. Um, wow. I think that this was built up too much. Ya, it was funny, but... Eh, good editing of a less than stellar park. Barry, now I understand...
  24. Proudly present your work! Give it a few days and watch your hit count on this thread. I think you'll be happy!
  25. An egg beater a kitchen tool that looks similar to this lift mechanism. It would be more appropriate to say cake mixer, which is an electric kitchen appliance which looks even more like this lift hill. I guess that doesn't sound as good?
