  1. Yes. You can see some of the catwalk in the photo here on the lower right. I took that pic in 2007, the parks last season.
  2. The website is pointing out that the Little Titans coaster is now indoors. Is this something that they normally do in the off season, or has the ride been moved to make way for the new waterpark addition? I read somewhere (might have been here) that the go cart track under the Pagasus coaster was being removed. It would be nice if they could redesign or reprofile that coaster to make it a bit more thrilling... those little bunny hops were a bit uninteresting.
  3. I personally think KI will go the Giga Coaster route next. They have the attendance to support it.
  4. Well, Cedar Point got its name due to all of the Cedar Trees growing over the penninsula.
  5. Opening day might be pretty busy, being "Good Friday" and all.
  6. Much pain and misery. Oh, okay... you were referring to Shockwave.... I thought it was something less obvious like a cart or building missing.
  7. What is missing in that fourth photo?
  8. Here are some shots of the coaster back from 2003 when I went to Ft Lauderdale for a Princess cruise. I think I rode it 2 or 3 times. Very enjoyable. From our hotel room
  9. As I broke the news yesterday on my facebook page, "Kings Island: Past Present and Future", KI has posed the new park map. Noticeable things are the new games under Diamondback's helix before the splashdown, the new funnel cake stand, tropical plunge, new FunPix™ locations... and a big empty space where old funnel cake stand was in rivertown. www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/park-map
  10. I still go to WWK every season,. and they are doing a pretty nice job with it. They have a lot of small events with local radio stations and such. They added the dining plan as well, and that seemed to be pretty popular with passholders. I would guess that a reason they sold the soak city properties already had to do with taxes and operational costs. I think it's much cheaper to operate a park in Ohio than California.
  11. Visiting the petting zoo at cedar point and the new one at Kings island add a bit more to my enjoyment of the parks, so this will be a great non-ride addition. But i agree, I think it's time for the park to invest in a new ride.... and it doesn't have to be super expensive, maybe a family drop tower, large larson drop tower, ring of fire or a new majestic carpet ride to replace falling star (Delgrossos put one in last year)
  12. For the record, that photo was taken in Fall of 2014 with a drone the park used. I'm still keeping my eye on the area where the old funnel cake stand was. They built a whole new funnel stand, are moving the basketball throw under Diamondback's helix as well as putting a new soccer game next to it. And they also are redirecting the entrance (and i think exit) for the rapids ride, so something is happening with a good-sized plot of land in rivertown.
  13. ^ right, it is. I'll see what kings island does as well, maybe that will stay the same... maybe not. Happy about subway and johnny rockets.
  14. And we get less at Panda express, which annoys me a bit. But oh well, at least it's something.
  15. Here are some pics I took of the new ride when I went in August. Easily my worst park experience ever in terms of crowds and the way the park was run. Too bad, it could have so much potential. 100 feet of fun.. it was really good it replaced the bumper boats where Opa was... soooo empty for the advertised "indoor amusement park" $7.00 tickets... we got ours for $5. and $20 to park. WTF!
  16. I've heard other news the the Flats won't come until 2017, which is too bad. Perhaps there will be a revised County Fair in 2017, since that's part of the park that hasn't been upgraded all that much. Some, but not that much.
  17. I had looked forward to Old Indiana putting up the old Opryland Rides and for Premier to build the park up, but with the Six Flags purchase, that obviously didn't happen. From Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Indiana_Fun_Park
  18. The coaster the park is in need of? Why a Vekoma Boomerang of course!
  19. Yep, same model as Canada's (Eh) Wonderland. ©2014 John Peck ©2014 John Peck
  20. I never cared much for Lisko Amusements Zipper design.
  21. Cool... a Scrambler. Is it from Fun Spot?
  22. Great TR. Many of the Falling Star rides (built by Chance) have been removed due to reliability which is too bad because they were a lot of fun. The Fireball is in fact built by Larson and is a portable model.
  23. I don't think there was ever a formal announcement prior to the removal for the Turnpike cars or Sir Rub a Dub Tubs. Obviously, Wildcat, either. Not sure about Chaos. They also replaced two kiddie Kingdom rides with two from the junior Gemini area, and got rid of the kiddie bumper boats. In the last decade or so.... There was one i think for Ocean Motion, but they decided to keep it, which I'm glad about. Demon Drop had an announcement (2008 or 2009) and so did Schwabinchen (2002).
  24. ^ I thought i heard about that as well. I know Texas Giant was redone in 2011, so Cedar Fair execs may have even taken a trip to Arlington Texas to try it out, and by then, SOB had been closed only two seasons, so perhaps they were weighing all options. It would finally come down near the end of the 2012 season.
  25. Let's see, constant closures for weeks / months at a time. The ride was closed for the vast majority of the 2013 season, last year it was closed for a few weeks with a crane working on the support structure between the arms (though last year was overall pretty decent) and then of course the accident in 2014. It's a very unreliable ride. It's a great ride but it's hard to deny that it has a ton of issues. And let's not forget this close call at Thorpe Park. I don't see many people buying them going forward. I guess i don't remember it being down so much in 2013, but if it was, it was. I do remember the crane now. Hopefully they have gotten past those issues.
