  1. So really... go to the back first instead of hitting Skyrush at opening? Do they still have the little path that goes along the river that I could use as a shortcut?
  2. I'm Planning to go to Knoebels next week on Wednesday. I've been there a few times, with the most recent being in 2003. I was wondering if there was a ride-order to do and if any of you can recommend anything for lunch. Also, any good advice on discount tickets? Thank you in advance.
  3. I'm Planning to go to Hersheypark next week on Thursday night (preview plan) and for most of the day Friday. I've been there a few times, with the most recent being in 2014. I doubt we will hit the waterpark unless it's extremely hot, so I was wondering if there was a ride-order to do and if any of you can recommend anything for lunch. Also, what is the rule about adults riding the kiddie coaster? Thank you in advance.
  4. I'm Planning to go to Dorney next week on Thursday. The wife and I have Platinum passes with meal plans. I've been there a few times, but prior to 2007. I doubt we will hit the waterpark unless it's extremely hot, so I was wondering if there was a ride-order to do and if any of you that have the dining plan can recommend anything. I won't be going to Chickies and Petes as we have one at Cedar Point. Thank you in advance.
  5. Once we've gotten all of the Troll stuff out of our system, I did post a construction report on page 1423: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=45427&start=14220
  6. Here are a few pictures of the new coaster construction that I took today. Please note, all pictures were taken in legal areas. The park had periods of light and heavy rain today and humidity. The waterpark remained closed. the new access road you can see clearing near the waters edge you can get great views of Diamondback™ from over here
  7. I also see a Soak City expansion. I'm still on the fence if I think that Sky Coaster will move elsewhere into the park. I dunno. I would like to see them reuse the Shoot The Rapids Site for another water attraction in the future. There is a post on twitter that shows the park putting up Haunt signs, and one of those signs is for Eden Muse and it looks to remain open for this years Haunt. For those who don't know, this haunt is within the Mean Streak structure, and you have to go under the coaster to go to the queue. So that makes me think the destruction of Mean Streak won't really start to kick in until November, and "if" it is an RMC, it won't open until 2018.
  8. Someone was hit by lightning at Kings Island and sued many years ago. http://enquirer.com/editions/2003/06/19/loc_pkisuit19.html
  9. You're awesome, Paula! I'm so fortunate to have met you so many times.
  10. Glad you guys had a great time at one of my "Home" parks. I also agree that Mantis is so much better now. I didn't see it mentioned, but how did you like the soft restraints on Maverick? They did a great job with that, too. Anyway, thank you for great TR's... I always look forward to you posting them. John
  11. People saying that it can't be a drop track because the track that follows is the same height should bare this in mind. Yes the existing coasters that have drop tracks continue onto a lower piece of track, but the drop track itself always returns back to it's original position. So why can't this one do it with the train still on the track? Could also mean that the track could drop, and then be launched back up to it's original position. Definitely looks to me like it will be a drop track in there. The track is at a good height for one when it enters the building. Yeh the renderings don't show room for a drop track but they are wanting to keep it secret, so the renderings may not be totally accurate. And that's why i mentioned perhaps it would be some sort of turbo-drop.. The train enters the shed... some audio is overheard, maybe some effects like trees falling down, and the train drops 15 feet or so... and then launches back up... then moves forward out of there finishing the scene and then hitting the next block.
  12. Winterfest returns in 2017.. that's my guess.
  13. I'm thinking it's not a drop track... the shed and the station remain at the same height it seems... unless it's a turbo drop... After watching the POV, I think the flume is staying as it looks like it's nowhere near its path
  14. Stand Ups hit the market when very few alternatives were available for "unique" types of rides. The industry had already perfected the steel looping coaster and suspended coasters and you either sat down or hung sitting down on suspendeds. There were no flying or floorless or even wing style seating at the time, and the stand up coaster was perfect to give that more "dangerous" approach to standing up—which was blasphemy to do on any coaster in history. It was a pretty neat niche coaster, but they were tougher on the legs of the riders and very hard on capacity because every seat had to be adjusted to the rider (which seemed less of a concern back in the day) .... and some crews did great to get the trains out, others just took too long. Also, rider numbers were dropping on some of the rougher ones... and you know what parks say: "Riders vote with their feet" - no pun intended. Mantis opened with 3 trains and they took one off since they would constantly stack. Capacity has increased an amazing amount since the early rides with very few large modern parks having slow-load and single-car load rides now (zipppers, smaller ferris wheels, rock o planes, roll-o-planes, sky wheels) Fast forward to 1991 through 1999 and you had feet-dangling inverts in development and then floorless and the LIM launched ones... then at the Setpoint roller soakers the vekoma Flyers into the 2000's and all types of different models which the passenger restraints all took much less to adjust each and every seat. So now, with so many new choices of coasters (some of the designs being 15 years old and feeling totally new to the industry (B&M Dives) I feel that the niche of the stand up coaster is just not wanted any longer. There are some great stand ups out there with great layouts... but could they be better as a floorless? Well it sure worked for Rougaro... it's so much better now. So, do I think parks should invest in new stand up coasters? No. Do I think anyone will ever build one again? Maybe, but only to be unique if more disappear, but right now, new and exciting concepts are coming out and they are just so much more appealing to parks.
  15. I think the whole purpose of a bicycle seat was support for the riders to keep them upright and strengthen them in case their legs would go limp... but I'm no engineer
  16. Count me in for the Vortex love.... back car, front. But... I rode it in the front seat two Saturdays ago when it was about 85 degrees and it really kicked my butt. I think it runs more aggressively when it's hot. I don't want to see it taken down, but I think it's days are numbered. As long as they can replace it with a large, similar, 3-train multi-looper that's a people eater.
  17. From their Twitter and instagram instagram twitter twitter
  18. I figure a refurbished country fair and they will probably pull out the yo yo and replace it with the wave swinger... better ride, better capacity. The video makes it look like even more surprises are in store... maybe even more rides are coming...
  19. Valleyfair already has FunTV. Are you saying that they would be getting more? Also, if you download the mobile game MobileStrike, and show that you have it at Guest Services, you get two one-time use Fast Lanes. I would imagine you could do this each visit, but please correct me if I am wrong. Oh, okay... I didn't realize they had Fun TV already. And frankly, I don't remember seeing it last year.
  20. ^ I think one of the posts was edited.
  21. Went to the park yesterday, July 16th 2016 and got some shots for ya'll. It was a pretty busy day yesterday, so we spent some time swimming, so we didn't get many rides, but some of the lines were okay. I knew the risks of coming on a Saturday in July. The train has real wildlife now passing the White water canyon turntable we come to... a big drilling machine that dug holes to put all of these posts lots of them looking back around the corner.. a clearing in the back woods... going almost straight across to Diamondbacks second hill another view of the clearing as the train approaches the station in the station now see" Diamondbacks second hill! I told ya it was there! a look at the clearing moving forward, you can see part of the pathway to WWC clearing again ( I hope it's a new area with some flat rides as well as the coaster... wouldn't that be nice?) from the tower now Action on the Mall... just because. Goodbye
  22. ^ Kings Island did that a few years ago The "Fun Tv's" appeared the following season... like magic.
  23. I'm all for understanding extended ride refurbishments, but I'm having trouble grasping entirely new locations unless the park is creating an entirely new area as the cost of rebuilding the infrastructure for those rides is enormous and there's really no ROI to be had from it. The new Route 76 area centerpieced two "new" major rides with a lower-cost replanting of two existing rides, that had much smaller ride pads and excavation for the scrambler. Unless the current infrastructure for those rides are beyond repair, it's just not adding up to me.... but I'm no engineer.
  24. It was almost entirely drained this morning. I wonder if there was a leak that needed patched.
