  1. I totally forgot about Turbulence. Anyway, I'm planning a trip to HP. We are looking to doing the night preview and hitting the park the next day. On the full day, if we are to get there when the park opens (which will be a thursday or friday (around the 24th of august)) what would you locals prefer I do get the most rides in.... or be able to beat the crowds to certain rides. My last visit in 2014 was awful as it was so busy and hot.... and the waterpark was closed as it was the second weekend in september, so the crowd wasn't disbursed enough.
  2. I posted this on facebook, but I wonder if construction will get so extensive to where they have to shift over the railroad tracks to get the ride to fit.
  3. Do Dorney and Hershey have some sort of "no compete" agreement where they can't build the exact type of ride? (Kind of like what Busch Gardens and kings Dominion have). That would eliminate the S&S Tower thoughts... unless Dorney is selling theirs to Hershey. (Sorry, had to create a little extra drama there.)
  4. I would think that the reason you don't see as many new B&Ms in the Six Flags parks is that the S&S 4d's are much more affordable as well as doing the lower cost RMC conversions. The company is trying to add something to each park without taking on anymore debt, so therefore, they have to be conservative with their budgets. If it was the old regime, I'm sure there would be 5 wing riders by now.
  5. FYI: The security gates showed up after the Orlando shooting. A quick construction trip report from today: Will your little flume ride remain, Charlie? I hope so! more trees down since last week near the new line for Whitewater Canyon another look pink flag I wonder if these covered queues are going to become vine-covered like the old pathway the park used to have. you can see one of them climbing on the train, i'm looking backwards and we just passed the bridge more, again facing backwards just past the turntable to WWC. Look at this big orange machine! this has been flattened out more more turned around zoomed in on the area from the Tower overall the area cleared back in the spring hasn't changed much close up of the recently "fallen trees" a quick recap at the 2 new games near the beast and diamondback's helix Carousel looks like it got new light bulbs on the building Monster has green and yellow on the bottoms of the sweeps... just the smaller 6 "spiders" A final pic to wet your appetites
  6. cool. looks like a new pinfari-esq coaster to replace the wildcat. Como town in Minneapolis built one last season, and it's a great family ride if this is what this is.
  7. Actually, just "Gettysburg" ... I was just joking on the SF part. I see my joke worked well. Bravo to me.
  8. Okay, I did remember one time the skyride not being on the POP, but that was many moons ago. As an out of towner, are there any discounts I should be aware of? I'm looking at planning a trip in late august and I plan to hit Hershey, Knoebels, Dorney and Six Flags Gettysburg. (Yes, we are skipping SF Great Adventure)
  9. So I see that Dorney offers early ride times for season pass holders... but they aren't listed on the website (or I can't find them). Can somebody tell me what they are? I'm looking to go in August.
  10. ^ I started as a flat ride enthusiast and worked my way into a coaster enthusiast. I will always have a soft spot for Ferris wheels and scramblers. You need the balance. One of my big disappointment parks is SF Magic Mountain, and that's due to such a lacking flat ride collection and diversity with their other rides. Though their coasters are great... it just doesn't completely seal the deal for me. KI has removed a lot of family and flat rides over the years to put in big coasters and such, but Cedar Fair has been preserving many of the remaining rides that aren't mechanical nightmares in their now 10 years ... (Yes, 10 years) of owning the park.
  11. Which amusement park "hasn't" moved or removed a flat ride to put in a coaster other than Disney or Universal. KI has gotten rid of a ton of stuff with fewer replacements, but they're getting better. I just hope the flume stays. I had a great ride on it Saturday.
  12. ^ Okay, so that is a confirm about the wristbands. I was looking at their prices and noticed that there is no wristband option on weekends. the sky ride is good on those wristbands, right? I haven't been there in years. Any wristband discounts?
  13. My how times and thoughts have changed... When it opened in 1997, Steel Force was the premier ride in the country and it was raved all around the then (new) internet. I rode Wild Thing at Valleyfair last year for the first time and had an absolute blast. A couple bumpy parts, but a pretty darn good ride. It didn't have Magnum's personality, though, but that's okay... still a fun, satisfying ride.
  14. I think coasterbills might be the closest, but that doesn't explain the pink flags closer to the train shed. I admit, when the season started, I really thought we were looking at a B&M Giga... I even spread the rumor a bit..but as the season progressed, I wasn't seeing any footers like we did when Banshee and Diamondback construction started, and then my thoughts came down to a GCI or family coaster. Whatever happens, I do hope the log flume stays. I personally don't think the ride will go over the railroad tracks (by the station), I think it will be more of an entry plaza where they took out the old funnel cake stand. Thoughts?
  15. some shots of the damage here: http://fox8.com/2016/06/05/photos-cedar-point-causeway-closed-power-out-in-sections-of-park-due-to-storm-damage/ we were up there, it was pretty crazy rain.
  16. Random CP question... We usually park in the main lot. If we park there, can we walk to the Marina gate and get in there with out Platinum passes? I ask, because I never walked up that road, so i wasn't sure if pedestrians were allowed there. (we go there a lot but I never thought to do this... and since Valravn is so close, we might have a better shot at getting closer to the queue) Bummer about the antique car... that's the second time I've seen a wheel shear off that.
  17. 4. Remove Flight Deck and Time Warp from Wonderland ---> Relocate Flight Deck to Valleyfair (name it Thunderhawk)
  18. I would do this: 1. Remove Looping Starship ----> new slide for waterpark 2. Remove the Top Spin -----> Put in a Mondial Giant Frisbee (may have to relocate the bumper cars next to Corkscrew - Maybe add an additional smaller flat ride as well... 3. Remove Steel Venom -----> Move it to Great America, CA 4. Remove Flight Deck and Time Warp from Wonderland ---> Relocate Flight Deck to Valleyfair (name it Thunderhawk) - Move Time Warp to Michigans adventure, build a new B&M Invert at Wonderland If the rumors are true... 5. Remove Excalibur, (love to see it live on somewhere, but probably not) expand the waterpark and parking lot and entrance.
  19. My wife has a water bottle that flattens when it's empty and she can keep it in her pocket attached to a belt loop or clip. then when she's done with the ride, she can fill it up with water and walk around with it. Nifty
  20. I thought about that too, being for a giant 2018 attraction... but.... - Historically they don't tease two years out - There has just been too much ground work/and building destruction and reconstruction for something opening two years from now. I'm not saying it's not possible, I just think it's too premature. Of course, it could always be a multi-year project. - I still think the log flume's time is short... though i don't want it to be.
  21. Based on footer timeline construction for the last two B&M's at KI, (that were quite well along by this time during the season) I really think it's not going to be one now. My bets are now on: Family coaster like the FireChaser Express one at Dollywood GCI family wood RMC
  22. Any word on the Boomerang accident? Is it still pending investigation?
  23. Well, the park announced it was taking out their Super Round-Up for a new ride from SBF Visa on Facebook a month ago or so, and they have finally shared it: It's called "SLINGSHOT" and it's one of those smaller figure-8 spinning coasters. They hope to have it up and running around Memorial Day weekend. So call the park before you make the trip. http://www.facebook.com/CamdenParkWV/ Image © SBF Visa
  24. I've posted this in a few places, but if Cedar Fair were to do a ride relocation I would suggest the following: Knotts' Boomerang ------> Great America or Kings Dominion Wonderland's Time Warp ------> Michigans Adventure or Worlds of Fun Wonderland's Flight Deck ------> Valleyfair Wonderland ------> new B&M Inverted
