  1. This is the problem when people give their opinions.... everyone has one. I like going to Cedar Point, but are there prettier parks out there? Yes. Are there parks with better food, DEFINITELY. Are there better coasters within 3 hours of where I live. (Columbus Ohio, Go Bucks) No. I remember going to BGE a few years back and being very impressed with the landscaping and very impressed with the Italy area, however I also said, CP still had better coasters/rides. People take this a little too personally. Does my life change because some person does not like CP? No. I do not work for Cedar Fair, or even own stock in Cedar Fair, so the fact that someone does not like CP means pretty little to me. I have not been to as many parks as some of the people making comments about CP. Is it possible that they have seen better parks than CP, of course. Lighten up people. Just do not diss the OSU Buckeyes, dems fightin' words if you do.
  2. My home park is CP, however, I agree with many things on the previous list. The food at CP IS atrocious. I end up eating at the Midway Market just because it is the most edible food without leaving the park and is not too terribly overpriced. The list left off muffleheads, which, early in the season are horrible, but I do prefer those over the burgers I have endured at CP in the past. My rule at CP is if you have to walk up to order the food, do not eat there. I have also left and gone to East of Chicago on the causeway because the food is that bad. Also agree with the lack of a fastpass type system, that really sucks. As far as the rides being "average", that is a matter of opinion. I enjoy most of the rides there and have fun while riding them. I have noticed that everyone has SOMETHING negative about every park in the world and CP is no different. If CP put the money and energy into the themeing the entire park like Frontiertown is themed..................
  3. Congrats, I was there on Saturday and to my dismay, Raptor was not operating. Glad to hear it is now as I am going back to CP this weekend.
  4. Great pictures of Kennywood. Worst picture of Elissa? Hmmm, she seems to be having fun in that picture, unlike the photo of her in labor..... NOW I know what a group of idiots are called! I always thought it was a "Congress of idiots"
  5. If you bought either of the max passes at a former Paramount Park, ( I bought mine at KI) it had the Joe Cool Club included. I have gotten in early every day I have been and will be going to the "Joe Cool Homecoming" 9/7 and 9/8.
  6. I also remember this being raised at the Coastermania Q&A, and thought the same thing. Just to clarify, there are only two options, the Platinum pass for the 140.00 or the single park pass for I think 105.00. The single park option does NOT include parking, which can be added on for 50.00. Not a math expert, but if you do the latter option, let me know and Tommy will come back and hit you in the head with a tack hammer. Also the 140.00 is only good until Nov. 11 after which the price will increase to 150.00
  7. Cedar Fair just announced the prices of the 2008 season passes. 140.00 for a "Platinum Pass" which now INCLUDES parking at any Cedar Fair park and also includes admission to any and all of the water parks. This is an increase of 15.00 over the Cedar Fair MaxPass I bought this year which did not include parking, so not a bad deal.
  8. We are still talking about roller coasters, right? Yes? Darn
  9. I like the last photo .... to the left, buff lifeguard guy, in the raft: coaster fanatics who have been eating theme park food for over a week....probably longer....... The lifeguard guy may be saying... "Where are the hot chicks?"
  10. I have a hard time deciding what to ride in the mornings when I go to CP. I always get in at 9am, and usually end up getting few rides on Raptor and MF before the park opens. I did wait for Maverick on the Friday of the Midwest trip, but it was not open right away and the wait was about 45 min to an hour (after it started operating) and it was worth it for that wait, but I do not think I would wait anymore. Same goes for TTD, great ride, but worth the line? To many others, yes, but I would prefer to ride something else over and over if it has no line. Well, except Mean Streak.
  11. Dominator is one of the few reasons for going to Geauga Lake. That is my daughter's favorite ride there. I was going to go to CP on Saturday, but am thinking about going to GL to get a few rides on Dominator. Perhaps all the people on the east coast tour next year will get some ERT on Dominater at KD.
  12. Great video and pics from the power outage. Looks likes all the people on the tour made the best of a bad situation and had a great time. I am glad I travelled up there on Friday and not Thursday. I can sense more statue credits coming (shudder)
  13. Thanks. I rode it for the first time in 1979, I was 9 years old. I remember waiting in line back by LaRosa's Pizza with all the switchbacks open and thinking, wow, that was worth the wait...now? not so much, but still a good ride and never any wait.
  14. I would really like to see that Beast POV from 1979. Is it online anywhere?
  15. I think it would be funny if a ride op somewhere put a sign up so it can only read after dispatch: "Accident free for 5 days" Of course no one likes to hear: "Enjoy your ride on Mean Streak"
  16. All at KI: And I will date myself a little here. Screamin Demon King Cobra Scooby's Ghoster Coaster The Bat--Cool thing -- there is a old promotional video I found on Youtube and I am in the video in the front seat at 6:14. I also remember now long gone flat rides there, the spin and puke barrells, the spinning ride where you rode in shoes....the roulette wheel spinner...and I do remember the sky ride was pretty good there. I remember the park being much better then, maybe because I was younger....nah, it WAS much better then. Of course you can see the epsidoe of the Brady Bunch filmed at KI to see what it was like. Stupid Jan losing those blueprints....... Oh and one more.... Mean Streak.... well, I WISH it was gone and could make this list.....
  17. Awesome pics! One thing that I love to do at CP is stand next to TTD during the launch to see the faces. You captured the moment perfectly. I wonder if the the "left hand grab" girl does that on every coaster????
  18. Very very funny, I am going to KI this weekend. I will have to look out for those Night Parrots.
  19. For what it is worth, Kinzel etc, at Coastermania, pretty much confirmed that a new coaster would not be built this year to open in 2008. Besides, No Streak has not caught on fire yet and I am hoping that land is where a good coaster, one day, will be built. So I am guessing that this year will be a flat ride, but 1/4 inch higher, 1/4MPH faster, or 1/2 more revolutions than something somewhere else.
  20. The video of the Tobaggon of death is great. I hurt just from watching it. Great TR!
  21. You do not want to ride in the front seat of TTD or Raptor early in the morning or late at night. Last time I did, my white shirt looked like a windshield. You must also remember to keep your mouth closed. Yuck.
  22. Great TR. When I die I want to be buried in that cemetary so someday, my daughter can ride it with her kids and say. "Over there is your grandpa" I am putting it in my will now. I managed to get the first aid van thingie credit at kings island earlier this year, followed by a hospital credit after I rode Firehawk. Most expensive credit ever... cost me about 1200.00. I guess with all the cool drugs I had, it was worth it. MMMMmmmmm morphine......
  23. Well, if you found the Snoopy store, I am sure that you got several statue credits, including the Great Pumpkin. I will never look at those again in the same way... they have now, somehow, lost their innoncence. LOL
  24. Great TR, can not wait to see the rest of it. Hmmm, I wonder if you found the Snoopy statues at CP?
  25. I really like the pics. You actually even got me in the pic of the Q&A. There is a cute little girl wearing a red visor near the back center of the picture. I am next to her. Coastermania was more crowded this year due to Maverick.
