Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! (2008)

First work, then grandparents. Then I went home and watched Christmas Vacation, The Office, and Roller Coasters in the Raw. Not a bad day I guess. Happy Thanksgiving. -
2009 Season Hype...

Unfortunately that's kind of turned into an lol at this point, but oh well. I'm still more excited to go to Knoebels again compared to almost anywhere else! -
2009 Season Hype...
Wood Dragon 1988 replied to jason10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Two almost 100% sure trips: Scandi with TPR and Jersey Shore/SFGAd with some guys from the Behemoth trip. Hopefully I'll do some more, but I need some "non-coaster vacations" in my life in 2009. Probably will hit up my local gems Kennywood, Knoebels, and Busch Europe. If I can afford it and have time (which I doubt) I may do a little mid west trip with my friends and a trip to England for Halloween with Coasterforce. Honestly, I'm kind of down on the whole coaster thing at this point, but that kind of thing tends to happen in November when the season ends. When April rolls around I will probably be just as geeked out, but as of now, I really am only planning two trips -

RCDB is friendly. http://rcdb.com/id163.htm yes. -
Considering my favorite trains probably are traditional PTCs, I don't know what to make of this. Altough the thoughts of a smooth launched wooden coaster sound pretty cool. Although I will admit when I rode Ravine Flyer II this summer, I thought the design was a bit much for PTCs to handle over a long period of time. If this is the type of direction Gravity Group wants to go with their coasters, perhaps moving to new trains is the best thing to do.

Oh, so that explains why Maverick still had a two hour wait when I at Maverick 15 minutes after opening ( and Maverick is in the back of the park) Based on that I would recomend staying on site too. The traffic getting to and from Cedar Point can be bad too, and I would think on site would help that a bit.

I want to be on the sauce team! -
I went on a Tursday in July this year, and I was able to get all the credits I wanted in three hours. Night Hawk had by far the longest line, so if it is open I would recomend riding it first. I decided to go over to Afterburn and there was little line at all for at least a half an hour. The boomerang may have a long line next year, as it is new and they don't have great capacities. The waterpark looked good, but I didn't go. They have a LOT of rides, more than you would think for a medium-sized park.

Q1) Are you Male/Female? Male Q2) How old are you? 19 Q3) When you go to a theme park, do you prefer riding wooden roller coasters, or steel roller coasters? wood Q4) Of all the different roller coaster trains, which do you prefer and why? Seated, standing, inversion etc… Seated...Philadelphia Tobogan Company traditional trains with single position buzz bar lap bars...offers the most freedom and comfort IMO. Q5) What’s your most favourite ride? Phoenix Q6) When your on a roller coaster what do you think is the most THRILLING part of the ride? (Gives you the biggest buzz/rush?) Airtime hills Q7) What do you think is the most SCARY part of the ride? (Makes you think twice about it?) not sure Q8) Do you think roller coasters are LESS scary and thrilling after you’ve ridden them once before? Yes Q9) Do you like the idea of an extreme roller coaster? (Think roller coasters crossed with extreme sports) ? Q10) Themeing… Is the theme important in the overall ride anticipation and ride satisfaction? In some cases yes and in others no. For example, a great ride like Superman ROS, Phoenix, or Boulder Dash needs no themeing, but some rides (like dark rides) completely rely on it. Q11) Queuing… Do you like to see the ride whilst in the queue? Or do you prefer the sense of not knowing what is going to happen? Yes I prefer queue interaction.....if the queue is a custom-made queue designed for ride interaction. For example, seeing the last hill and turn on Millineum Force from a standard non-creative queue line is pointless IMO. Q12) Because of the direct proportionality between rides and queue length, do you prefer short ride/short queue, or long ride/long queue? There is not a direct proportionality between rides and queue lenght!!! Q13) Is there anything you would like to see improved/changed with roller coasters? I wish more wooden coasters would use buzz bars instead of ratcheting ones, and I wish GCI would make more of their coasters like Ozark Wildcat or the one in Germany (include airtime hills and not banked turn after banked turn!). I wish B&M would make more forceful inversions on their coasters. I wish Intamin coaster trains would give a BIT more freedom. Overall, I would like to see more simple layouts AKA more airtime and less turns and inversions.

Can't believe I've never ridden a Eurofighter, but this looks like a good one. Hope to possibly ride this at Ghosterforce next year if my plans hold up! -
I for one used the helper, but may switch to the cut and paste way next year. Best coasters in Texas???
Wood Dragon 1988 replied to thrillgeek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've ridden four coasters in Texas: Judge Roy Scream, Mine Train, Mini Mine Train, and BTR.....I'm pretty sure none of those are the best LOL! Hmmmm, perhaps I should go on that trip.... Actually, BTR might be the best, but I would guess my favorite would be Steel Eel or Mr. Freeze, because I like Morgan Hypers and Premier Launchers more than most. -
And don't forget CCI who....um.....built the damn thing 8 years ago! (lol) There is absolutely no reason to not vote due to low credits. Every vote counts in this poll! In fact, if you have less coasters it is MORE easier to decide, and more easier to fill out. Seriously though I love this poll, and can't wait to vote. And I can't wait for the results. I'm not sure why TPR prefers the old-school way, as I have found Coasterfanatics to be 100% reliable and easy.

Great TR, lots of close-ups of the coasters. I want to go to UK so bad, and I can't wait to go to Alton Towers....Drayton, not so much!
