  1. I personally think Griffon's drop is more "intense" than El Toro's, however the OTSRs make it feel, to some, less intense. The ejector in the back row is far longer lasting than El Toro's due to the length difference on the drop. El toro is a bit shorter of a drop, and therefore has less drop before flattening out. The flattening out puts you back in your seat of course. Try to sit on the left edge. It is by far the best ride on that side due to your position in the immelmans, as well as giving the best angle while travelling over both bunny hills for two very sharp, albeit fairly brief, airtime moments. Make sure, no matter how long the line is, you get on in both front and back rows. Try out the single rider line if it is busy! You will virtually be guaranteed a left edge seat by going through it, just cant say what row it will be in! Hope this helps, enjoy my home park!
  2. Looks like Ghost Town in the Sky finally won approval to reopen Cliffhanger! Everyone can descend upon the park now! Seems like the park would want to make it known a bit better though, wouldn't you think? http://www.coastercrew.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2254 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=87565&id=833537435&ref=mf
  3. Your post is pretty stupid. Guessing games are not what people come to this site for. But if you say Great Bear beat Alpengeist, I hope a kitten poops on your face while you sleep.
  4. The best ever is ALPENGEIST Just standing in line for this incredible coaster with the theming and film playing about it in the queue, and hearing the most intimidating deep voice slowly say ALP-EN-GEIST sends shivers down your spine.
  5. Anyhow this has gotten away from Kings Dominion...lets get it back on topic... AQUATRAX!!!!!!!!!
  6. So wait......That hill between the 2 helices...that doesnt give any air at all right... ha. that is one of the most intense airtime moments youll find anywhere. it actually launches you so hard in the back your back hurts. The front it feels like you are being obducted by aliens you get pulled out of your seat so hard. So 4 major airtime hills, all will very good to ejector airtime...Id say that could be called an airtime machine. In addition, the entrance to the first helix and even the hill right before are giving out doses of airtime this year... Might wanna re-ride the ride there HCLcoasters...
  7. Its about damn time someone said that! This is what I have heard from several people close to those at KD before track even began showing up. Lets just hope its a reliable Intamin prototype now...Is there such a thing?
  8. Last time I checked, Belmont Park in San Diego still had theirs, though when I went (last year), I could not believe it was still running in the condition it was in! It added to the thrill! LOL
  9. I was at the park yesterday (sunday). Doubt very much it was a safety problem. I'd have to go with yet another superman chain break, or lift motor issue. Was the train on the lift? yes. one thing that has been failed to be mentioned thus far is that there was a crane on site. The crane was removing the chain and gears at the top of the lift. by the end of the day, 2 ribbon looking pieces of cloth appeared to be hanging down from where the gears had been. If it had been a "safety violation," i doubt a train would be sitting on top of the parks largest lighting rod during summer storm season. No. They would be sitting on the transfer track, and in the station. Maybe this has something to do with an attempt to make the ride more reliable, and not break down in 20 min intervals? Does anyone know what the reliability of SFNE and DL's supermans are like? P.S. Guest Relations at SFA are the people that told me I could not use my SFMM season parking pass at their park...so i wouldnt take their word for much haha
  10. You know, even if it wasnt that big, its still a bad omen lol
  11. Here's what I came up with: 850pph/24 = 35.4166667 which I then multiplied by 22 which = 779.166667 riders per hour? So, I would round it to around 780 riders per hour, obviously varying on the speed of the crew. Sound right? will Manson be on hand at all times to create the 0.166667 riders?
  12. I don't believe BBW ever opened to the public with out that trim break on the drop. In fact, the ride's grand opening was delayed due to adding breaks throughout the ride.
  13. Wow this photo TR really is good. SFStL looked pretty busy tho. Guess I'm lucky I hit it on a fairly light day. I wasnt a fan of Boss, their B:TR was def the best between SFGAd, SFMM, and SFoG, smooth and incredibly forceful. Mr Freeze is actually in my top 3 steel, front rides are amazing. Were they running both trains on Freeze? For that matter how have operations been you experienced at the parks so far?
  14. Great TR! I agree with Alpengeist and Griffon. I can never decide on which I like better! Alpie's cobra roll is just phenomenal and is often looked at as rough. It actually used to be more intense before that guy broke both of his legs on the ride, so they put a holding break at the top of the lift to slow the top speed. I am just so lucky to have BGE as a home park. Then again, its a pain because I hold so many other parks to their standards (even though I DO like SFA). Really? Shiekra more interesting layout than Griffon? Shiekra certainly "beasts" on themeing, but to say it has a more interesting layout...eh, will disagree with you on that all day! haha. I feel where Shiekra falls flat on it's face after the MCBR. all it does is drop, turn, watersplash, limp back to the station. And Griffon...drop, immelman, sharp airtime jab (especially on the left side of the train, but everyone feels it) watersplash, turn, another sharp airtime jab (again, especially left side). The only layout thing Shiekra really has over Griffon is the carousel turn into the MCBR. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if you are wrong. (its a joke lol) By the way, doesn't BGE have a full service resturant...nearly under Griffon? its a Bistro. Or did that come out when Griffon went in... my local park and I've never even noticed. And yes, I like Nitro better than Apollo, but not by much. B&M hypers just don't do it for me in general so it doesn't really matter to me either way.
  15. Hmm, can't help but notice that swine flu did not exist in Spain until around the time the Alveys got there...coincidence...? Robb's gift to South Korea on the Columbia Double Loop Coaster was a fart, to Spain, its swine flu. Which country was let off easier? Maybe I should start a poll...hmmm. Robb...maybe it wasn't such a good idea to star in that pig version of that donkey show down in mexico...
  16. You can't even tell Scream! is a parking lot coaster here! Love this one. Taken by me in January.
  17. Wait...Deja Vu being rough is something I don't think I have ever heard...Where did you ride?
  18. Yeah, I completely dismiss any claims of Alpengeist being rough. I personally love the transition into the cobra roll. That snap takes your breath away. Who rides a coaster with a limp neck anyhow? Thats just asking for a hit to the head, on just about any coaster. Alpengeist is no rougher than it used to be in my opinion. My #3 coaster out of over 160, and by far my favorite invert.
  19. I watch the footage at least as much as the expedition disc. It doesnt take away from the RAW DVD's in my book, if that is what you are worried about. I wasnt a big fan of the coaster expedition 11 including pooh and some of those real weird dark rides, although i see why you put them on there. Are there any plans on a "Weird and Unusual Coaster" DVD? Something with rare and strange coasters like Atomic, Seoul Land crazy mouse, Interpark Wild Winds, Chinese rip off coasters, you get the idea.
  20. Hey timberskara, is there anyway you could send me that video or post to coastertube? Fun Spot fascinated me for some reason while i was there. Never been to a place like it. when was your trip?
  21. I was really bummed out when I heard about it. I went to Fun Spot this past August on a Cedar Point trip. Ended up I came away with a good impression of this place, and a horrible one of CP, oddly enough. Afterburner was fantastic. Wicked ejector airtime. Zyclon I actually found fun. Too bad I couldn't whore the kiddie coaster. I didn't get a chance to do the flyers, unfortunately, as they were down due to wind. Actually the park was pretty busy the day I was there, it was a Friday. I know after talking to some ride ops there, the owner was considering closing it after last year. It was a bad year last year for them. It was a rainy and cold season they said, and had some attendence issues. The end of the year associate party apparently was the week before we got there. The owner, at that time, said the park would open for the year, according to the ride ops who attended this party. The wording on the website kind of has me wondering if the park could re-open after the economy gets better. Lets face it, IN, OH, and MI have been hit some of the hardest in the country so it seems like the economy excuse could be true. Anyone know where I could find info on the "ride accidents" they have had? Zyclon apparently has accidents? kiddie coaster derails? Afterburner stuck in loop? is there truth to any of this?
