^The game is just reflecting reality. That message is probably up after every cycle of the ride. -
TPR Loves Carousel of Progress

I thought torture was illegal in the United States. Oh to be at the mercy of the Carousel of Progress. It's probably the equivalent of being waterboarded with dreams of the future. -

Great Adventure History has a whole page on the Space Shuttle at Great Adventure. It has pictures all the way back to when it was first put in the park. It also has the technical specifications and a video of it working as well. http://www.greatadventurehistory.com/Looping%20Starship.htm Hope that helps! -

Mitch's Coaster Poll
BuddyChrist replied to ScubaSteve442's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't post a lot on the site, but I do have to say that this is just a poll to determine which Wooden coaster is considered the best without having huge issues with being bias. The way people have been fighting over why Voyage isn't at #1 or Why El Toro isn't at #1 is getting to be really irritating. With the way some people have been responding to people's results it makes me feel like I'm at a Yankees/Red Sox game. We all like coasters and we enjoy different types of coasters. I personally rank El Toro at #1 for Wooden Coasters, but it's not because it's at my home park, it's because everytime I go on it, I have fun on it. Just because it's my number, I don't feel the need to point out that everyone who has Voyage at #1 is wrong, I haven't even ridden it! Now El Toro isn't even my #1 overall, that belongs to Nitro. People may say that I'm insane, but I happen to be partial to B&M Hypers and I love every ride that I get on it. It may not have"extreme" airtime like Toro, but that doesn't mean that it's enjoyment is less for me in anyway. I know I'm kinda echoing what everyone has said and everyone's entitled to their opinion, but stop knocking on other people's opinions. I don't consider my opinion to be the absolute nor do I consider Robb or Elissa's. I will take theirs into consideration when I plan out trips to theme parks, but in now way is it going to dictate what I enjoy and what I don't enjoy. Again, granted I don't post often here, I enjoy reading what everyone has to say and I find it interesting to see what others think of different rides that I have ridden and what I have not ridden. If I disagree with something, I may ask why they think that way, but I'm not going to say "You must've been high when you made this list." I'm pretty immature when it comes to a lot of things, but I make sure I don't cross the line. /rant -

If I remember correctly, Nitro did have seatbelts when it first opened. However, instead of going across your lap, the belts clicked into the restraint itself. I'm not exactly sure of when they were removed, but if you look at the trains today, you can still see the metal piece where the belt was attached and if you look at the restraint, you can see where it would lock into the restraint. -
EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE
BuddyChrist replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I will throw my 2 cents into this topic. Now I have only ridden El Toro and it constantly delivers a great ride over and over again. It currently occupies my #2 spot and is my favorite woodie. I have not ridden Voyage and from what I hear, I most likely will not like it since I don't like getting thrown violently over and over again. But I can't make a judgement until I ride it. I base my rankings off a combination of rides, not just 1. If I have one amazing ride and 3 crappy rides, I will not rank it based on that 1 amazing ride. A high ranking ride to me is not only very exciting, but consistent in it's thrill. As Robb has said, it shouldn't matter when I ride it, it should deliver an amazing ride throughout the day. I don't ignore the fact that it broke my rib 3 rides ago when I get an amazing ride. I rank it based on all of my rides. I rode Phoenix 2 weeks ago for the first time and all 5 rides were just as good as the first! This is where Toro has the biggest advantage as it can deliver airtime all day long. But should it not deliver that ride, it could go down in the ranking as it did not provide a consisitent thrill. Don't just go ranking rides based on that 1 night ride you had. I should be able to get that amazing ride whenver I ride it! I know that sounds almost exactly like what Robb said, but that's what I believe as well. -

People Me Kyle (Webmaster-Roller Coaster Central) Nicole (RCC Friend) Time in Park 10am-9pm Rides: Phoenix- 5 Twister-2 High Speed Thrill Coaster-1 Whipper-1 Skooters-1 SkyRide-1 Antique Cars-2 (1 day, 1 Night) Looper-2 Pioneer Train-1 Haunted Mansion-2 Satellite-1 Super Round-Up-1 Fandango-3 Today I took my first ever trip to Knoebel's, and I had a great time! I was invited by Nicole over on RCC and I was really excited to go! We arrived at the park with the Parking Lot full of cars! We had a long walk to get to the park! We made our way through the Covered Bridge Festival and got our Phunfest Hand Stamps. From there, we headed over to Flying Turns to see what progress was being made. We were told that they would be doing test runs later on in the day and to keep an eye out for trains on the lift. So me and Kyle decided to try out Looper right by Flying Turns. Well, since our weight was equal, we were unable to do any loops! How disappointing, so we decided to resurrect our spirits with a ride on Phoenix! Now I had heard about the airtime that Phoenix had, but I was nowhere near prepared for it! I was literally standing after every hill, it was just plain amazing! It was also really smooth, so I knew I had to get as many rides on it as possible! From there, we headed over to the Antique Cars and took a ride around their Halloween display that was set up for night, meeting an interesting character that you will see in the photos. After that, we went over to Fandango for a fun spin, I love these Frisbee rides, Great Adventure needs one! I tried to convince Nicole to go on it, but she put up a fight and refused! So me and Kyle went on for a second ride while she took pictures of Phoenix. We then headed over for another ride on Phoenix and went in the front row. Wow, I still couldn't get over the crazy amount of air this coaster had! We then headed back over to Flying Turns to see if it was testing, but sadly it was not, though there were people on the lift. We headed over to Twister and got on in the Front row, since there were no lines really anywhere. Twister is fun, but it is much rougher than Phoenix and didn't have as much air. It had great twists and turns though and we decided we would ride it again at night! We decided to head over to the skyride and hit up the Power Surge on the way over! We were able to flip a few times and I lost all of the change in my pocket. We convinced Nicole to go on the Skyride, and though she was terrified, it was very relaxing and gave some great views. We then went over to ride the train, and I must say, that Train moved very quickly! It had a very scenic route though through the forest! After that, we headed over to the Haunted House which I had heard so much about. Nicole was too scared to open her eyes, but I really enjoyed it! It wasn't scary, but it was very well done comapred to other haunted houses I have been through. We then headed over and did the Satellite, which banged me and Kyle around a lot. We then got off and went on the High Speed Thrill coaster. A credit is a credit, even if it is a small, painful coaster. We all walked off in pain and decided to sit for a moment. We then did their bumper cars, which were better than any other ones I have been on, since there was no rubber padding, and the things slid all over the place! The hunger pain hit us, so we went and got our slices of pizza. Me, being an out of state person, folded my pizza as all the locals looked at me funny. But hey, they come to my town in the summer to swim in the beaches, so they best be folding their pizza then! We headed over towards Phoenix for another ride, and me and Kyle went on the Super Round-Up, which was almost fully vertical! Unfortunately, it was not the best choice after eating, and me and Kyle had to sit down for a minute and let our stomachs settle. We then headed back over for another ride onto Phoenix! Still amazing and Kyle got on the last train before it had to shut down to put the other train on for PPP. So we headed back over to Flying Turns to find it testing! There was a very long line to go up into the station to watch it, so we found a spot to film it! After watching it test, we headed back over to Phoenix for another ride, and then back over to Fandango for antoher ride. I was able to convince Nicole to go on it, but she got sick after it, and I sat with her as Kyle went for another ride on Phoenix. After about 20 minutes of sitting, she was ready for another Phoenix ride. In the dark it was even better as it seemed faster and more intense! Phoenix is now my number 5 favorite coaster! We tried to find Kyle so we could do the haunted Antique Cars, which had a huge line. So we waited about 20 minutes as I took the wheel and navigated the car around the track. They did a great job on the theming with all of the horror props and I was very pleased. We decided to go for one last ride on Twister and depart the park. Twister was great in the dark, but it felt much rougher than before. So we then departed the park and tried to find Nicole's car in the parking lot! Overall, I really liked Knoebel's as it had so much to do and with a totally awesome roller coaster! I can't wait to ride Flying Turns next year! Here are the pics! Both from me and Nicole Nicole finding a parking place! The entrance to the park The covered bridge festival was crowded Cedar Point should read this Me messing with the clown. He will see me again on another visit, and me and Nicole will do inappropriate things to him "Hi, I'm Kozmo, now that I have your picture, I'm going to stalk you!" I got to second base with Kozmo, what have you done lately? Nicole proves she's not an oompa loompa and is tall enough to ride the big rides Kyle and I are looking at: A. Ninja Squirells Attacking small children B. A Fun ride C. Your Mom D. A Cedar Fair spy fighting with a Six Flags spy E. Chuck Norris Going for a ride in Looper This as far as we could get it to spin I think I see Superman in the sky Second try... Same Result The sign in the hay Phoenix lift Coming out of the tunnel onto the lift! Load's of airtime Excited riders coming down a drop Kyle gives his approval of Phoenix It's beautiful

Tonight at Phoenix Phall Punfest Flying Turns was doing test runs for the public to see! I didn't get into the station but I did get footage of it going up the lifts and going through a turn. I apologize for the quality! Going up the lifts Flying through a turn I'm sure there will be more photos and footage from others who were in attendance! -
It should be operating, it hasn't had any major problems this season. I'll be there that day too so it better be open! Chiller's a different story though Glad I got my 70 rides in on it this year while I could

Shapiro has done a pretty dam good job turning the park around. 2 years ago it was not a destination that many families wanted to go to. Now the park is nicer, the staff is friendlier, and most of the rides are actually working well. He's making a good decision by taking out Chiller. It rarely ran, it was a money pit, and even when it ran, the area around it didn't spring to life. It was time for it to go and now it's time for something new. Even though many people don't consider a spinning coaster very thrilling, I'd rather have a working attraction then a cool looking steel lawn ornament.
