  1. My theory as to why that piece is being removed first is so that they can get a larger crane in to disassemble the spike and elements.
  2. The person who took those pictures also talked to a crane op and said that they're taking it apart carefully "so as not to damage it" Could they possibly be moving it somewhere else? Strange
  3. Deconstruction has already started on Chiller at Six Flags Great Adventure. It has been closed since June and though it has been said that they were going to fix it totally, it seems like it fell through and they have begun to rip it down. You can see photos being taken at the park today at this link! http://www.flickr.com/photos/13991564@N08/
  4. This is my favorite El Toro Photo
  5. ^^A complete overhaul of Chiller includes replacing the faulty old system with an updated new system. So I take that rumor with a grain of salt.
  6. Dam straight. I never said how large of a hole
  7. It looks like they just took a picture of a maintenance area to shut up the fanboys until they can think of a good new attraction. I can dig a hole at Great Adventure, take a picture, and call it "future expansion"
  8. Thanks everyone! Unfortunately this will be my last TR until October. That's when I'll have a big Fright Fest update!

  14. People: Myself Time in Park 9:30am-6pm I took my first trip out to the park since my accident at work about 3 weeks ago. I was looking forward to riding everything again so I got there early for Rise and Scream. Kingda Ka was open for Rise and Scream so I took about 3 rides on it, the first one in the front, then wandered off to see if El Toro was open. I walked over to find El Toro stuck on the lift and a line formed waiting for it to open. So I then decided to go see if Medusa was open for R&S, but it wasn't. So I wandered around Frontier Adventures, taking pictures for my site and made my way back to the ribbon. Talk about a mob waiting to riot! It took me almost 5 minutes to wade through the crowd! I headed over to Movietown. It was only 10:20, so I waited 10 minutes for the ribbon to drop. I head over to Nitro to find it stuck at the top of the lift as well. They were still doing safety checks since they were opening with all 3 trains. So I headed over to Goth.... err, the other part of Movietown to go ride Batman. The ops ignored me for about 10 minutes until I got their attention by yelling to one. I got on in the back and man was Batman hauling today, I felt like my legs were going to be ripped off! I then detoured over to see how Chiller was doing and found Robin's train half in the station, half out of the station. So I kept walking and decided to go to the skyride and head over to Toro. / I get to Toro to find it running, and one switchback full! Full so early? I got up to the station and find that only one train is running and that the other was still on the transfer track with mechanics working on it. The ride was good, but it still needed to warm up to be excellent. They kept saying "Voted #1 Wooden Coaster in the World" but I don't know where that was taken from. So I headed back over to Ka and it was running like a beast! A train launched every 30 seconds, it was amazing! So I got onto Gak in the 2nd row and it was so rough that I had a bad headache! Curse you Gak! I sat and watched the tigers until it subsided. I stumbled out of the Golden Kingdom and into the Boardwalk. I guess I was delusional, because I thought Superman would be a good idea, and Superman is never a good idea to me. So I ride it once with a bunch of New Yorkers who had a rather "colorful" vocabulary. I headed down the boardwalk and decided to walk along the Lakefront to Nitro. It was running great when I got there, 3 trains with minor stacking, but the line moved quick. Luck had it that there was an open seat in the front so I took it. No trims were on so the air was plentiful! I walked over to Batman and got another ride on it in the 3rd row and then got lunch at the Backlot. I wanted to find a nice quiet place to eat, so I decided to go by Chiller since the area was basically dead. They did no test runs while I was around so I finished my food and headed back to the Golden Kingdom to catch another ride on Ka. Ka was running so well that the line was just barely into the switchbacks! I got on Schoolbus (thank god!) and I got major air going over the tophat and major air going over the hill! It was one of the best rides I've had. I headed over to Toro to find the other train fixed and the line moving faster. I got on the B train and it was hauling, they must have tweaked it well! It's getting a little bumpy though, but still a great ride! I headed over to Medusa and the line was under the Cobra Roll! Yes, under! Never fear though! It was only because one set of switchbacks was being used. Medusa is still a solid little ride, but it screams "Paint me, I want to feel pretty and loved again!" I then walked over to Ka again and saw 2 people from Guest Relations and a guy with a camcorder and microphone. It was that guy from Coaster World News. Ka was having no problems and was launching trains like a maniac! I got on CP beat it and it was a little smoother than usual, but no air this time. As I got off the guy from CWN got on, hell if I know his name. I then walked past Toro and got onto the skyride and headed back over to grab another ride on Nitro and Batman. From there, I walked along the Lakefront and went on Buccaneer and Fantasy Fling. I relaxed for about 20 minutes as I got on the Big Wheel and took some shots from above. I then went on Nitro again and headed over to the skyride. I decided to hit up Skull Mountain while I was there. Nothing great, but darker than it was earlier in the year. I went over to ride Toro and Ka again and I was tired and sunburned and prepared to leave, so I went out with a bang, a headbang that is, on the Great American Scream Machine. I almost escaped unhurt but I bashed my jaw into the restraint since the train didn't fully stop on the mcbr, it almost glided through it. So I dragged my sore jaw and sunburned body to the shuttle waiting area and then I was done for the day. In the beginning... Good Morning Kya, how are you today? One train for R&S Rarely do you see PDC empty I spy...the sky! Toro taunts me with an empty train They can get creative with this space and this space as well I question the stability of this bridge Lift at Work Cobra Rollyness Medusa testing, with someone on it? They said it wasn't open! The weather was great Ghost Town Adventures Now there's something you don't see everyday The Lakefront is so peaceful A working Batman themed coaster! A non-working Batman themed coaster! Lift Shots are phun
  15. They closed the Alpine Slides! Those things were so much fun! I went on them about 9 years ago and they were one of the best things I had ever done! That's a real shame because we used to go down those things with such speed, until we hit the person in front of us that was using the brake. They must have not been able to maintain it or pay the insurance.
  16. Because Dragster has WAAAYYYYY less problems than KK, including maintenance, reliability, and overall suckyness (<- personal opinion, don't get mad). Six Flags tried to improve what they obviously couldn't, and it didn't work out so well. I'm not going to get mad at you. Just hear me out. I get upset that even though both rides have basically the same amount of breakdowns, hiccups, and both have had a major accident, everyone still rags on Ka for being unreliable and that everyone seems to give Dragster a pass because it just so happens to be located at Cedar Point, the supposed "Garden of Eden" of amusment parks. Now Kingda Ka has had a better season this year and I've seen it eat lines so well that they've now taken away the temporary rope queue. Yes it does have breakdowns and rollbacks, but so does Dragster. Both are riddled with problems so to take a cheap shot at Ka like that really pisses me off. That's my .02 cents
  17. I fail to see why this was necessary.
  18. I would not venture to say that the line-up is mediocre. El Toro is amazing, Nitro is one of the best hypers out there, Medusa is still a kickass coaster, and Batman is still one of the most forceful inverts I've been on. Chiller...well Chiller is really a futile struggle to operate. I blame Premier rides for that, not the park. I'm getting sick of everyone bashing Ka. God forbid Six Flags decides to build a strata, and in my home park. So now everyone flames Great Adventure for copying Cedar Point. Get over yourselves! Jesus H. BuddyChrist! With the exception of about 3 coasters (GASM, RT, and S:UF), we still have many others to fit your taste for thrill. In reference to the "dump" remark. Get a time machine and go back about 4 or 5 years. That's when the park was a real dump. Now the park is actually clean and friendly. I can walk without stepping in garbage and now I actually use their bathrooms. The park itself is not really that overrated, I feel that Magic Mountain and Cedar Point are much more overrated than Great Adventure is. You're entitled to your opinion but that's just my opinion.
  19. This is my first attempt at photoshop so you'll have to forgive the quality. You can kind of guess what i was going for.
  20. They could've done that by now. Something went wrong that couldn't get fixed on site I guess. With half the season almost gone and no Batman: Chiller and now a broken Robin, it's looking grim for the ride. I won't be surprised if it goes.
  21. The boats drifted into the drainage basin that is underneath Nitro. They got stranded there for a few minutes until the staff went there to rescue them. That's not supposed to happen but Dainan tells me that's a frequent occurrence!
  22. ^That is the retention pond that they use, that's not part of the ride. These people we're waving at us screaming "help!" as my train was coming onto Nitro's brake run. And there is no air on GASM's first drop. The only air I ever get is coming into the brake run when I sit in the first row. ^^yes it's sad to see some rides go. But when they're unpopular, borderline painful, they should go to make way for something better. If GAdv didn't sacrifice Viper, we wouldn't have the awesomeness of Toro!
  23. Sucks for Walter. And I'm pretty sure there are many people who will agree with me that Scream Machine is not a fun experience anymore.
  24. The Big Wheel is.....big "cues Hallelujah Chorus" They're tearing down Scream Machine! See it's closed down! Wait nevermind, they're just fixing the trims Dance-off! Suuurved! Quite possibly my new favorite flat The Slide broke down, No word on it reopening anytime soon. It's probably awaiting inspection or parts. Fun game, I lasted through the whole shock cycle Where the camera at? Balin spots lunch Medusa..again And again A lifeline is thrown You're gonna need a bigger boat! Was actually pretty interesting to watch. Thhththththa'ts all folks!
  25. nobody was getting near Ka today Kingda Klosed The real Kingda Ka was just as lethargic RT was racing, but not for long That's Intamin for you! But so is this! O-Le Cobra! It flips you around and upside down, but with no floor! Cobra! Owned! From the Skyride The Golden Kingdom Kinda of a piece of crap A look down Main St.
