TPR and Theme Park Artwork

I always feel so outdone in this thread! Haha, well here are a few semi-recent pieces of mine! My sketch of another artist's work. I've been going through a very long mermaid phase haha. Capricorn! I've probably already posted one version of this, but I'm fixing it up all nice and I may get a tattoo of it. My version of Mark Ryden's Rose Joker distortion! -

I'm in a bit of a debate-esque thesis thing and am attempting to get some research behind my arguments. I would greatly apreciate your help if you don't mind! This is largely out of curiosity, partially because I think nobody really pays attention to this, and partially because it might be useful in my argument. My general argument is that prom (in general) seems to be more about the dress than the guy's tux. My points are 1. Dresses are usually more expensive, while the guy has the option of renting a tux 2. The title of "Prom Queen" is usually a bigger deal to girls than "Prom King" is to guys 3. Girls make a bigger deal over the dress than guys seem to over their tux (eg. "that colour washes me out" "everybody is wearing gold this year!" etc) 4. It usually takes a girl much longer to find the right dress than it does for a guy to pick out a tux 5. History proves this so. According to this article, prom started back in the early 1900's when women didn't even have the right to vote (where I live, anyway), and yet prom was an event that was all about them dressing up in their Sunday best. Anyways, your vote would be greatly appreciated, and if you want to help even more, it would be really useful if you could comment what your location is to help my statistics. Also, if you have anything to add/argue, please comment it! It would be greatly useful to my argument Feel free to choose more than one poll option! In fact, choose all that you believe apply to prom. Thanks! Traditional tux. Seen more or less often? Does this differ depending on where you're from? Not a traditional tux.

^ That's a good idea, but I (in my twisted mind) totally pictured it in a very Robot Chicken-esque way, with the Asian dude doing his thing and then getting run over by the Mr. Six bus and Mr. Six just kind of taking over the ad from there. It's like being Rick Roll'd, Mr. Six edition. With the Venga Boys playing. But really, it could work (just not that way).

I personally think that Robert Downey Jr. did deserve the nomination for supporting actor. I know a lot of people didn't like that movie or just didn't understand why he got the nomination, but it really is a fantastic movie that pokes serious fun at the film industry, and one of very few films whose sole purpose is specifically to do just that. I don't think one has to enjoy it to recognize its satire and irony. As a film student, that was the first thing I noticed and loved about it. I think that the Academy made a good choice and did something really different in nominating Downey. I think he hasn't received enough credit for his role in Tropic Thunder. To quote a good friend of mine, "he played a black guy almost immaculately". He was hilarious and did an excellent job and, at least for me, stole the show in many scenes. So, to conclude a probably unnecessarily long post, though I can't say I think he deserves to win when put up against some of the other actors nominated, I do think he deserved the nomination.

Debate KK & TTD HERE!
jazzimm replied to Speeddeamon128's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, as long as we're all invited, I'm going to go ahead and start the "I've not ridden either one, but I'm going to join in and debate this anyways just for the sheer entertainment" side. -
Alright, so I'm a photography student. I take pictures with an SLR and develop the film myself and print the pictures myself in a darkroom and everything. It's super fun. Anyways, on to the rant. My mother loves pictures so I decided to print her some of myself and my two sibilings and frame them for a Christmas gift. It was a fantastic idea, and started out great! My sister's picture came out lovely, and my brother's is adorable. Then on my last roll of film, I took one of myself using the self-timer (my shutter release wasn't working). Now, the thing about taking film photos is you don't know how they're going to come out until you print them. So while I have two gorgeous pictures of my sister and brother, mine came out looking uncannily similar to a mug shot. It's truly upsetting, and so so terrible. My mother is going to open it and laugh. And she's always complaining about how she doesn't have enough pictures of us, so I can't just leave myself out... so there's really no other option right now than to just give it to her. And THEN, to make matter a little worse, I couldn't find any black frames of the right size (anything else wouldn't be in uniform with all of her other frames, and she's pretty picky), so I bought natural frames and painted them black, but I haven't even wrapped them and they're already chipping off! I don't know what to do I'm just going to go take a breather and get back to it, I guess. Ugh.

I celebrate my birthday all month. I call it my "Birthday Festivus". I've been wearing a lovely tiara since December 1st, and fully intend to wear it every day until my wombday, December 26. Why not? I mean, most people stop "celebrating" their birthdays once they start getting "old", so why not take advantage of it while I can? Happy Birthday Festivus Day Ten to me!

Because you don't actually get what you pay for. Why do people just break out into song in musicals? -

$116 for new Puma shoes. When did shoes start costing so much? Ah, well. They're cute and I'll wear them to death so I'd say it's a justified buy.

Okay, here's how my first Koi Mural is coming along. This wall was by far the most difficult thing I've ever tried to paint on. -
EPIC WIN! ---Brent Lol, thanks. Haikus are my specialty! I should have pointed this out when I first joined TPR. It's like my signature lol Anyways, like my haiku says (lol), I'll be partying on the aforementioned day in 2012. I plan on enjoying those last few minutes, if they are indeed my last few. Which I sincerely don't believe. But, hey, it's an excuse to party!
