  1. I think given the news that broke today with *possible* April 1 openings, many employees at Disney, Knotts, Six Flags and Universal are getting notices to report next week for whatever recertifications are necessary to receive guests a few weeks later. How many employees? Likely the exact number required to open the parks at 15/20/25% capacity that’ll be allowed on April 1.
  2. I really don't think that any counties are going to slip back into more restrictive tiers at this point. Cases are and will only continue to drop from this point forward. Also, aside from Disney, no one will need "weeks" of training in order for the parks to reopen. If anything, the parks will reopen severely understaffed and train new employees as things get back up and running. They'll reopen as soon as they're given the go-ahead. - My optimistic yet unscientific opinion
  3. I’m sure the car show appeals to lots of people, but I’m not one of them. Also, California is bat-s crazy, but given current covid trends, I can totally see a spring opening not just being wishful thinking.
  4. 45 minutes for ERT? We just call that RT.
  5. I’m also diggin the color scheme. I don’t know why every coaster in the states has to be the brightest shade of neon (insert color here). I’ve always loved muted shades of gray/earth tones for coasters.
  6. It’ll be a lot easier to find the damn park hours now. Under the “Park Info” tab like it should be. The “Play” “Stay” “Explore” tabs of the last few years were horridly unintuitive.
  7. Oh dear. My last summer working at Cedar Point was the summer after my last year of college. I was 24 and felt like I was too old to be working there Employee housing is cheap, but that’s just about the only good thing about it. Seems like someone over 30 would want something a bit less college dorm-y...
  8. People. Does it really need to be said that DBru was being facetious? Of course many many people rode LR many many times. Calm down.
  9. Just don’t expect to arrive to your destination on time if you take Frontier
  10. As long as at some point next year parks do away with reduced capacity on rides (seat and row blocking) I'll consider it a win.
  11. Can’t wait for the elitists to come in and brag about the original Lightning Rod being the best coaster in the world and ibox LR is just not the same. That’ll be fun.
  12. Probably for crane access. Now that the ride has been built, it's not possible to get cranes in the same places they were able to during the original construction.
  13. I wouldn’t be shocked if a few years down the road the remaining topper track is replaced with I-box. It just wouldn’t make sense to do maintenance and replace topper track with more topper track.
  14. It’s doesn’t look like the park has posted their 2021 hours yet.
  15. There was a time in my life when I would have cared what Lightning Rod was made of. So refreshing to give precisely zero effs. I just want to go to Dollywood and not worry about it being open!
  16. Same. I've been planning and putting off trips to Dollywood since... well, 2016, because I wasn't confident enough that it would be open
  17. Yeah but it’s also got a 6-car train. I imagine there’ll be some pretty decent whip in the back car even if it crawled over. I wasn’t expecting Xcelerator speed over the top hat, or Maverick intensity through the course. Probably dialed down a notch from those rides.
  18. If Cedar Point had even the same rain/wind policy as the other Ohio CF park, let alone just about any other park in the nation, they’d be the best park in the country bar none. It as it stands, I’d never even consider going here if there was any sort of wind or rain in the forecast.
  19. I’d drop $200 on a Magnum train in a heartbeat.
  20. Thing is, people are so used to following Covid protocol right now – especially in California where they have had some of the strictest restrictions and guidelines. Social distancing/mask wearing/sanitizing is so engrained in our day to day lives right now that people are just as safe going to a theme park they are as any other activity, and far safer than just about any indoor activity such as going to the grocery store or Costco. I’m also no anti-masker/Covid denier - I’ll gladly wear a mask anywhere and everywhere and I’m definitely not voting for a certain former reality TV star. I just don’t know who Mr. Newsome is attempting to appease, because I can’t imagine anyone in California - be it left or right - is happy about this.
  21. Differentiating “large” parks and “small parks” and letting them open at different times is pointless. 25% capacity would spread out guests at the same rate regardless of the size of the parks. Add this to the list of completely arbitrary guidelines set forth by governments during this mess...
  22. Add it to one of each side of Power Tower at Cedar Point please!
  23. Hate it when roller coasters ruin the skyline at a theme park /s I’ve never understood this gripe.
  24. Yeah, they consistently went to Fast Signs and spent about $100 per sign
