Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

You mean you don’t have to be a lazy entitled millennial to work at Cedar Point during Halloweekends? A 50-something is just as capable to work a stressful, thankless, temporary, benefit-less job, outdoors in the northern Ohio elements? Huh. -

After reading the last dozen pages or so, it just makes me so glad that for the last decade I’ve chosen to visit the park exclusively during the week in June, where everything is staffed properly, and I don’t have to wait more than 30 min for anything, even without Fastlane. -

Yeah, while I understand your sentiment here, and I agree that it sucks that you paid for Fastlane and still had hour+ waits, the park does not advertise Fastlane as a “VIP” experience. They advertise it as “wait less than those who don’t buy it”, which you did. I’m sure the guests who waited four hours for Steel Vengeance would have gladly only waited one. It just doesn’t make financial sense to sell the same number of FL wristbands on the busiest day of the season (which this past Saturday probably was) as a day that is far less crowded. If it were up to me, I’d charge twice as much and sell half as many, but it’s not up to me, unfortunately -

I had a 34-hour Cleveland layover, the entire day on Saturday, and a CF platinum pass. I haven’t been to CP since 2016, and SV is #1 on my haven’t ridden bucket list. Yet I decided not to go to the park because I knew it would be a complete cluster. I spent the day checking google maps from time to time watching the causeway be a solid dark red line of traffic through the early evening, knowing I made the right decision -

Conversely, if a ride can be made enjoyable by doing a couple simple tricks, I don’t see why someone would actively choose to have a worse ride than they potentially could. I hear it all the time with Magnum - people say they won’t tighten their seatbelt or sit in the middle row of a car “because they shouldn’t have to”. Ok, enjoy your bruised thighs. -
I find it hilarious that there are people saying “all they need to do is build the station and start testing, then WCR is good to open!” Those are literally the two most time consuming and difficult parts of the whole construction process. My bets are on a December opening, simply because SF could run into some trouble for advertising a New For 2019 ride... that never opens in 2019.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Which is a shame, because a decade ago, Legend and Raven were both smooth and re-rideable. Voyage was so-so. Maintaining 12,000+ feet of wooden coaster track is no easy task. I really wish something besides pouring money into standard wooden coaster maintenance would be done to Voyage that would allow the park to have three good woodies rather than three one-and-done woodies (in a lot of people’s opinions). -

They’d still have two of those at Holiday World if Voyage got some sort of RMC treatment. The time and money the park would save to not have to do such extensive work on Voyage every season could be spent to keep Raven and Legend in tip-top shape more consistently. -

Topper track or I-Box it, but keep the layout as similar as possible to the original ride, I say. I wouldn’t want to see a crazy “typical” RMC layout. Smooth Voyage is my #1 overall coaster experience. Haven’t ridden it since about 2008, though. -

If the only qualification for a giga is height above ground, would a 300-foot lift followed by a wild mouse layout with no drops count as a giga? Just an endless series of ever intensifying U-turns... Drop length is all that truly matters. -

It’s marketing. To almost everyone who will visit Energylandia, Zara IS a wooden coaster, and they couldn’t care less about why it’s not. -

Was there much complaining with Steel Vengeance? Maybe the name. I remember that announcement being pretty well-received. It was a coaster designed for enthusiasts after all. And as with every announcement, I feel like there are more people complaining about the complainers than there are complainers in the first place. There are literally two people who haven’t said “Looks great! So excited!” And then two dozen people complaining about their ungratefulness. Oh, well. Looks great! So excited! -

This is B&M we’re talking about guys. If you think they’re going to pull some wild and crazy tricks out of their sleeves for this giga - inversions, launches... then you're going to be sorely disappointed.
