  1. I’m more confused why coasterbro thinks a Mako clone at BGT would be “awesome”. If you want to ride Mako, it’s literaly an hour away, and your BGT annual pass also gets you into SWO.
  2. Cedar Point ride ops test the blocking systems of all coasters as part of their opening procedures. If the SV crew has not been stopping a train at the MCBR, then it is not currently a functioning block.
  3. These floorless conversions would be so much better if B&M would just get with the times (as in 2002?) and figure out a way to put lapbars on their looping coasters like every other manufacturer has done. OTSRs are sooooo last century. Still, shocked that this piece isn’t headed to th scrap yard.
  4. Sounds to me like those magical six weeks of a fully-staffed, fully-operational, well-oiled machine of a park have once again come to an end for the season. Can’t wait till July 2019!
  5. SFMM still hasn’t learned to just not paint steel beams that are within arms reach of queue areas? That’s vandalism prevention 101... I mean yeah, a painted beam looks way better than a bare beam, but know your clientele.
  6. Wait, does anyone really think that tweet means there will actually be an announcement tomorrow? This is Cedar Point - if anything, this is the teaser to the announcement for the announcement Secretly, *please just let this be an actual announcement*
  7. ^ Well, that specific scenario wouldn’t fly now, although they’re significantly better about running some coasters in the rain now than they were a decade ago.
  8. But the fanobois were mislead! RMC Son of Beast was their god-given right in 2019, even though there was zero evidence that it was ever happening other than “a ride” was returning! How could that NOT mean RMC Son of Beast?! Unforgivable.
  9. ^ Careful, you’ll trigger the Dorney and MA fanbois
  10. You’re right. So unfair. If only there were other amusement parks that you could visit if you’re not happy with what Dorney has to offer.
  11. It feels like Crazanity JUST opened... well, because it kinda just did! And now they’re making the 2019 announcement in just a couple weeks. Six Flags sure knows how to keep interest piqued year-round!
  12. Such a unique dive coaster! Love that zero-g/dive loop second inversion. Now CW has their modern multi looper AND a dive coaster - double win!
  13. Mine ride COULD be a great family ride, but by the time most kids are tall enough to ride, they consider it tame (when they’re also tall enough to ride MF and Magnum) and adults are too big to ride comfortably. I’d only be for a re-do if brand new trains were added, the height restriction were lowered to 42” or lower, and some pretty dramatic theme elements were added. Otherwise, rip it out and install a brand new true family ride. As an Arrow lover and enthusiast with an appreciation for history, I want it to stay. But in its current state, Mine Ride is just not super useful to the park.
  14. I just got the survey, and the last 8 pages or so asked me how much things would/should cost, but each question was written: “How much do you think you would have to pay for a a?” And “How much do you think you should have to pay for a waterpark a waterpark?” I just gave each answer 0.01, as it was the lowest acceptable amount, and clicked the “needs better proofreading” button when the survey asked how the survey could’ve been better LOL...
  15. One thing is for sure, if it’s not named Ziz, there are some enthusiasts who will never lose hope! Ziz 2020!
  16. Just because 5% of guests will never pay attention, doesn’t mean you don’t do your best to tell every guest what’s expected of them. It’s a statistics game - tell everyone in hopes that half of them will follow directions perfectly. Better than not telling anyone and only having 10% of them do it right just by chance. There’s also a difference between what Robb was saying, which was a ride op going down the line and addressing each group individually, and talking to guests over the PA system, which a lot people tune out.
  17. I think Raptor, PT and WT have bins because riders will need somewhere to put flip flops anyway. Also, I’d much rather put my phone in a pouch that zips shut than a bin where it has the chance of getting stolen, smashed, etc.
  18. I think that the pouches would be a great idea. I’m a firm believer that the vast majority of phones that fly out on rides come from peoples loose POCKETS and not from those individuals who are taking them out for pictures/videos. In fact, holding onto a phone might be the safest place for it (not condoning, simma dow now). If there’s a nice safe, convenient, FREE place to store your phone, riders are going to use them. Is it a perfect solution? No, because as others have said, they can still be taken out, but it would make everyone happy. And there really is no perfect solution, so might as well come as close as possible to one.
  19. Flashback truly needed lap bar only trains to ever have a chance. Some of those transitions were truly brutal - notably the upward s-turn immediately after the second hairpin drop, which gave me the most forceful whack to the head I that I can remember on any ride ever. The last time I rode Flashback was late 2002 or early 2003 when I was a senior in high school. A friend and I went to MM several times those years after getting our drivers licenses and season passes, making the trip from the Fresno area. At some point in the day we saw it running - we were estatic because of course it was almost never open and it had been years since either of us had ridden it. We both still think it’s funny that Flashback was the highlight of that particular trip, and unbeknownst to us, that may very well have been one of the last times it ever ran.
  20. ^^ And the same people who brag that their average season visit cost them $0.65 because they have a platinum pass and never bought food inside the park.
  21. These predictions have gone from “def first giga dive!!!1!!!” now to just barely taller than Valravn. I’m going to laugh when it’s announced and it’s only 200 feet.
  22. This is clearly not the way the ride was designed to operate. Once whatever bugs are worked out of the blocking system or whatever is going on, they’ll be able to dispatch the trains sooner and the third train wil most definitely come in handy. Whether or not this will happen in 2018 another story.
  23. I rode Apocalypse four days ago and also thought it was running just fine. Better than I remember it running a couple years ago. Just goes to show that every wooden coaster ranges from “smooth” to “makes my whole body bleed”, depending on the rider.
  24. Can anyone confirm if Revolution is open or not? Testing is great news, but the website still lists it as closed. I just moved to Palm Springs back in January and got a season pass, but it’s been down the only time I’ve used it so far, and have yet to ride OSTR-free!
