  1. Or we can just wait until the Annual Report comes out in the next couple of weeks and everything will be explained
  2. It's done by the sheer evil dark magic of the Shiriki Utundu. Little known fact, the Shiriki Utundu is Swahili for "Idol that looks like Stitch." In all seriousness, my guess is that the idol isn't there at all. It's not Pepper's Ghost either. I think it's actually painted into the wall behind it and when certain light hit it's shown and when that light goes off, it disappears.
  3. Western Way is getting that value centric Downtown Disney first. At least, that's what the land clearing permit stated. I just hope they put a Steak N Shake in there. Mmmmmmmmmmm...
  4. Well...poopie. ^I personally really enjoy Disneyquest. The closing rumor is a Jim Hill thing and personally, he's a fine writer, but I take some things from there with a grain of salt. It wouldn't shock me if it closed, but I would guess more that it might turn into this new thing. As for a park in the UK, I would like that too, mainly because I'd love to see the battle between Disney and The Tussauds Group.
  5. Wow, I'll have to look harder at these concepts when the Annual Report comes out. But here's my early 2 cents. Carland: It's not going to be a "land". I know, it makes no sense being called Carland and not being a land, but I think that name will change. It's a poorly named attraction. It's also going to be indoors. The Test Track system, which this very obviously runs on, is really picky and the slightest percipication shuts it down for hours. They can't afford to have those vehicles exposed into the elements. My gut feeling is that Carland will be a 2009 or 2010 attraction for DCA. Monster Mania: Well, it's slamming the Toy Story Mania concept and the Monsters ride in DCA together. That's simple. My question in where is this going in TDL? The only two logical thoughts are Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. I already can't stand the thought of one Monsters INC attraction in Tomorrowland (Laugh Floor in WDW). Two is just ick. It'll also be late 2007-early 2008. Water Spectacular: Disneysea this summer. Next Pirates: That's for Hong Kong, right off of the entrance to Adventureland for 2008-9. For the whole area, they're looking to build Tortuga. Also, Hong Kong's Pirates will not, repeat will not, be Splash style. It'll be like all the others, just completely movie based. I learned a very interesting thing about their approach in Hong Kong while I was down at WDW. I asked about adding the characters into their version of its a small world and the reply I got was in their research, they found that the Chinese audience did not know the modern movie characters at all. They knew who they were but didn't know what they were, if that makes any sense. So they're adding the characters into small world so the audience can start making connections into the other characters outside the Fab 5. This approach is being used for Pirates as well. The audience knows the movie far more than anything else for Pirates, so it's going to be strictly movie. Strangely enough, this Tortuga style land may also hold the Haunted Mansion, so I'm very curious to see how that turns out. Toy Story Mania: Well...that looks boring. We all know this one, but I'm very underwhelmed. Toy Story Live: This is going to Disney Studios Paris, where Animagique currently plays, probably either this year or next year. New urban center: Disneyquest 2.0? I'm very interested in this. Even more interesting to me is that the architecture, both of the main building and the buildings behind it, looks like downtown Philly! Oh please oh please oh please! New Park: That's mainland China, wherever they decide to put it. With the concept, it does look a lot like Disneysea.
  6. One of the theater professors at my school got arrested about a year back for running a multi million dollar drug ring in the Philly area. That blew everyone away at school, but frankly, not many were surprised. He was also one of those "cool" professors. I guess there's a pattern.
  7. That's really cool. I just got back from my program just recently, so seeing that makes me yearn for WDW once again. Happy Birthday Soren!
  8. Cut your losses and build Rock N' Roller Coaster. I'm sure the space is somewhere in DCA, somewhere in the Hollywood section. Knock out some defunct restaurants and use the old Millionaire space and go ahead and build Rock N' Roller Coaster Starring The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Personally, the whole Rockin' versions thing sounded like an awful idea from the get go, but I think this is Disney pulling the trigger on it and getting it out of their system. I think after this, it won't return. At least it's better than the first test during Grad Night where the music was an unsynchronized Hoobastank song.
  9. My thought is that Tigger didn't even see the kid, tried to go for the arm around the shoulder and missed. I doubt it's truly intentional. I'm also curious to know how old is the kid.
  10. I will say, it's not making my job any more fun. Yesterday there was at least one guest who thought of themselves far smarter than they really are who, when seeing the hanging man in Stretch, went "Look, it's Saddam". Meh. Oh well. My opinion on the situation is that he murdered a whole fleet of people and I have a feeling, given who he is, the punishment was carried out as it should have. I'm not one generally for capital punishment, but I cannot imagine a life sentence being carried out very well in this case.
  11. I agree with Elissa way back on page one. It's Michael Bay doing his version of Independence Day, with Steven Spielberg adding his input from War of the Worlds. The transformations look cool and it looks to be a great effects movie, but that's about it. I have to see more to make a real decision.
  12. We rode this past Friday, we being Ashley and I, the projection was going but Yeti was in B mode, or as we came to call it, "Disco Yeti". We actually liked B mode a little better. Though the Yeti is awesome, the B mode made him seem like he just suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Now, if only it could have the motion and the strobes all together. I found something even more disturbing than that however. Yeti ball seems to be an endangered species! They were all out!
  13. Thank you. We do our best, though on Not-So-Scary nights it is thought about even more so than usual. I know for me during those nights the character was strongest. The hair, makeup and feel of the area certainly helped.
  14. The reason why this guy is so familiar is because, well, it's me, TPR's loyal personal butler! Awesome photo. I vaguely remember Lindsay, but most of Not-So-Scary is a blur. Looking at my hair and makeup, that was on October 23rd. Glad to see you had a great time. Wonderful TR btw, I'm loving it. Stuart "I feel like a celebrity, now where's my Evian" Newsom
  15. Some more pictures. Or in Disneyquest speak, MorePictures. Nothing says holiday cheer like pork sandwiches and waffles. Seriously, that's the menu. It's a very Derek Christmas Boat on mighty vikings. DISAPPEAR DISAPPEAR! The Lights of Winter, Osborne Christmas Lights 1.0 Epcot at night, circa 1982 The blue tree's cousin. Over to Epcot. EXCLUSIVE SPACESHIP EARTH SHOT! This picture's for Elissa. Treasures of the Inca...dead. They ran out of treasures. The Virtual Jungle Cruise. Corny jokes not included. Pirates, this is how the ride should really be. I'd ride it over and over again if I could shoot cannons at the show scenes. Oooooh pretty....the background's nice too. Ashley wanted to stand with the Genie, seeing she works with him over at that OTHER magic carpet ride. The last piece of machinery sold from X-S Tech.
  16. Using our Disney Cast Member Holiday hoopla ticket, my lovely companion Ashley and I went out to Disneyquest, seeing Ashley's never been there and I am determined to get some satisfactory pictures inside. She seemed to enjoy her first Disneyquest experience, ranking Pirates top, as well she should. Afterwards we went over to Epcot for Holiday Illuminations, for the giant kaboom, where we also happened to stand with the bunch of people for Mousefest, including Mike Scopa and Mark Goldhaber of Mouseplanet. All in all a nice little day. Invasion! The last thing remaining from the Alien Encounter legacy. Me...not so much. I look more confused than stylish. My lovely companion lovely modeling the oh so stylish VR helmet. First stop, Ride the Comix. But, you're really not riding anything, you're leaning. It should be called Lean the Comix, but that's not as exciting. This guy reminds me of Goliath from Gargoyles. Over to the Score Zone. Look, made up comic book characters. Must be edgy. See, very much not the same as the others. Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters! Not exactly the same as all the other ones, but it's the original. The throwback world of the Replay Zone, also the location of our first stop. My lovely companion grabbing a hold of the Create Zone paintbrush. The blown open comic book of the Score Zone. The Cave of Wonder (steps) for the Explore Zone. Looking up into VenturePort, also known as the hub. They really don't like spaces around here. The DisneyQuest Christmas Tree. I guess here it should be called ChristmasTree. DisneyQuest. Also known as Teenagerland.
  17. How funny, I was on the TTA when Space went down yesterday. That picture of the Peoplemover very easily could have me in it!
  18. The mermaids are from the Submarine Voyage. In the bygone days, they used to lay about on the rocks and swim in the lagoon. Even Disneyland allowed some eye candy in the good ol days
  19. "And I conceived a child with this man," sighs Dan
  20. YOU MEAN I CAN'T GO ON COASTERS FOR 9 MONTHS!
  21. Congrats! I'm currently on my program, on the last legs right now. I think, as long as you take the classes that they offer down here, which are actually excellent classes, you'll be fine for Freshman year. I also ask what role were you selected for?
  22. With all this fun, I'm so ready for a TPR cruise. Off to look and see if the Disney cruises have a large group discount. Thinking of KidTums in that planning. Stuart "Off to work at my big spooky house on the hill" Newsom
  23. You can't cruise there! You're in towel bat country! Even more so, you're apparently in Hunter S. Thompson towel bat country.
  24. I think we now have a TPR first. Robb used the lipstick cam on himself. This is getting more and more fun every update. I think the TPR cruise would be excellent. All of us confined to one ship. What a DVD that would make.
