  1. I agree wholeheartedly. I've never seen the attractiveness in her. The first thing I always think of is "New and Improved Joker products!"
  2. A 60 gig gen 4. It suits just wonderfully, is all scratched up and that's just fine by me.
  3. ^ In all the times I've been to the park, I've never seen Skull Mountain open.
  4. ^ I still call it Wild World or Adventure World from time to time, just because.
  5. Oh, I already know the pain of Mind Eraser. The name is very ironic because I'm sure that blunt force trauma to the head can certainly erase a few things in the mind.
  6. I'll be there. If I get the gumption to experience the assumed pain of Two Face, I should have credit 100 as well.
  7. I was frankly surprised with this move. Impressed, but surprised none the less. I have the guess that they looked at the possible revenue and found that being open is more profitable. I'm sure it'll do more to irk the ire of people who already have their ire irked by Disney, but oh well. Who needs them anyway? The original Ellen sitcom was done by ABC, which is why she's been around Disney, like the old Writer's Shop in MGM and Ellen's Energy Adventure, which opened when the show was still on the air. Ellen's talk show is distributed by NBC Universal, which is why they choose Universal Studios for their remotes.
  8. Their War. Yeti Ball's World. Official Entry #2 Look familiar Robb
  9. That's an interesting ride to stall out. I guess the LIM theory works out. Why does Premiere always add an extra set of LIMs for the sole fact of making it back to the station? Is it a hight restriction on the spike? Oh, and I love the music on the official site POV is BBVD. Nothing says Speed like swing.
  10. ^^Very true. The only Six Flags Parks on any list are Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Great America, and Six Flags Magic Mountain as numbers 18, 19, and 20 respectively on the top 20 of North America. That being said, they're still the number 2 chain in the world behind Disney in terms of attendance with an estimated 28 million visitors in 2006. They're also a distant number two, seeing that number 1 Disney had an estimated 112.5 million visitors in 2006. ^Whoops, missed it. Then disregard what I wrote.
  11. Worked well for what I saw. It's better than the one that's built into Firefox 2 and it will certainly help me.
  12. As published at the beginning of this month in InPark Magazine, Park World Magazine, and copied a dozen other places, the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and Economics Research Associates (ERA) came out with the 2006 worldwide theme park attendance numbers. Being both a business admin major at school and the theme park nut I am, I'm all over this. The positive is that, overall, attendance grew 2.2% over the year. However, I'm sure you're all interested in the bottom line. Who's the top? Here are the top 25 parks in the world, by attendance, as researched by these two foundations. In the parentheses are the attendance number estimates for 2006: 1) Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA (16,640,000) 2) Disneyland, Anaheim, California , USA(14,730,000) 3) Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo, Japan (12,900,000) 4) Tokyo DisneySea, Tokyo, Japan (12,100,000) 5) Disneyland Paris, Marne-La-Vallee, France (10,600,000) 6) Epcot at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA (10,460,000) 7) Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA (9,100,000) 8) Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA (8,910,000) 9) Universal Studios Japan, Osaka, Japan (8,500,000) 10) Everland, Kyonggi-Do, South Korea (7,500,000) 11) Tie: Universal Studios at Universal Orlando, Orlando, Florida, USA and Blackpool Pleasure Beach, England (6,000,000) 13) Disney's California Adventure, Anaheim, California, USA (5,950,000) 14) Seaworld Florida, Orlando, Florida, USA (5,740,000) 15) Lotte World, Seoul, South Korea (5,500,000) 16) Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, Yokohama, Japan (5,400,000) 17) Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando, Orlando, Florida, USA (5,300,000) 18) Hong Kong Disneyland, Hong Kong, SAR, China (5,200,000) 19) Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal City, California, USA (4,700,000) 20) Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark (4,396,000) 21) Ocean Park, Hong Kong, China (4,380,000) 22) Busch Gardens Tampa Bay/Africa, Tampa Bay, Florida, USA (4,360,000) 23) Sea World California, San Diego, California, USA (4,260,000) 24) Europa-Park, Rust, Germany (3,950,000) 25) Nagashima Spa Land, Kuwana, Japan (3,910,000) An interesting point they make later on is the total attendance for the top 25 parks in the world equals 186.5 million people. The seven page report also breaks it down by region and company, along with having the water park estimates as well. So, anything shocking? Anything interesting? Anything you just don't think is correct?
  13. Yeti Ball made it to Monkey Island! Official Entry #1 Yeti Ball is too cool for Herman Toothrot.
  14. The princess became a kingdom. It's not as much as a sex change than a weight gain!
  15. The hoodies were sweatshirts with hoods and, as of right now, are no more. They'll be back later this year.
  16. Michael Jackson wants a Vegas robot So...there's going to be a 50 foot robotic Michael Jackson...in the Las Vegas desert...shooting laser beams. Though it doesn't seem to be, I really wish this is an early April Fools joke. Or it's the greatest idea ever. One of the two.
  17. I'm wearing the same shirt he wears in the video right now! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! However, seeing super collectors like him make me feel better about myself that I'm not quite that bad. I'm close, but not that bad. Well, of course they troll the forums when their bored! That's what we do. What would make Disney any different? It's not major news that they troll the forums and sites. They're word of mouth advertising and it only makes sense that they would want to monitor that. I'm sure there is some very useful information that they could gather about experiences on these boards. However, I think the "decisions" made by the information gathered is very small. It would be things like customer service changes, test and adjust things, and the ilk. So the "please bring [insert name of attraction here] back" pleas will fall on deaf ears. Usually those attractions are gone for a reason. That being said: Alien Encounter is never coming back. It's a cult classic in every sense of the word. People miss it and hold it on a pedestal now, but when it was around no one rode it. That's why it's gone, it was unpopular. Hey, I know some girls who would really like a Hitchhiking Ghosts room!
  18. ^Your avatar is hysterical. Disturbing, but hysterical. I like the BFFT one, the TPR park and where in the world is Yeti Ball. I'm just itching to put yeti ball in a red fedora and red trench coat. Here's some other ones: What attractions should be in the "boutique" Disney park? The next HHN icon (never too early for Halloween ) Seeing there's the Beatles Love, with rumored Elvis and Criss Angel possibilities, what's the next Cirque du Soleil show. Attractions with awkward acronyms (taken from the interesting acronym of the Monster's Inc Laugh Floor)
  19. If memory serves correctly, generally they're on Memorial Day weekend.
  20. ^ Very true. Very very true. Now, tell me, what are the odds of Jim Hill getting something right?
  21. It's an interesting idea. However, I don't know weeding out the locals and APs at Disneyland is quite the smartest path to go down. That's the bread and butter of Disneyland, from what I have come to understand. That's the market they've come to cater. Weeding them out seems to be counter productive. That "catering to locals"/different market reasoning is also the reasoning I always got when I asked why Disneyland received certain things, especially the holiday attraction overlays, and why Disney World didn't. Disneyland has locals and AP holders who visit repeatedly, so an attraction being closed for a little bit to install an overlay or little month rehabs are not that big of a deal. Disney World gets first time and possibly only time visitors who would be, and are, hopping mad if certain attractions, like Haunted Mansion and Small World, were closed for any period. So the overlays, and in turn little pick me ups, are just not feasible. Making a new, almost personalized experience and unique attraction base would be a huge draw. I almost want to call it Park 33. However, I don't think Disneyland is the best placement for this idea. Disney World, however, just might be. They can create a feeling of special treatment and isolation from the masses. Almost a second Magic Kingdom concept in entry where you park away from the park itself and take special transportation to the main gate. It would be down the street from Discovery Cove, but these experiences are not competitive. It's two very different worlds. Overall, it's a rumor of something that I'm sure is just being pushed hard by the blue-sky teams. It probably will change 50,000 times from now to if it ever happens.
  22. Good taste Wes! My personal favorites are "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank", "Prince of Space", "Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders", "Manos", "Space Mutiny", "Werewolf", among others. The list could keep going.
  23. Are there any MSTies out here? Personally, I'm a huge MSTie. For those who don't know, a MSTie is a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 or MST3K. If you don't know, look up MST3K on YouTube, you can fine pretty much the entire series on there. I find it hard to really explain, but overall it's a guy and two robots making fun of some of the worst movies ever made. Anyone else a MSTie here?
  24. Theme Park Allowed to Make Noise (BBC) So the high court ruled in favor of Alton and the old rulings stand. In other words, what we all thought would happen happened. Victory for Alton!
  25. SFA is technically my home park, but it not one I ultimately enjoy. Here's my extremely biased opinion : That depends on what you're looking for. Seeing you've visited Hershey and Kennywood before, that might be something in favor of SFA for a change. However, I will say overall those two are far superior parks. They're pretty good. They're nothing to write home about but they're not awful either. Whenever I've visited, which I admit hasn't been all that often, I've found Joker's Jinx to be a pretty fun ride with almost always no wait anymore. The woodies are pretty basic. Roar is your basic GCI and Wild One is an out and back that threads through the Typhoon Seacoaster or Skull Mountain or whatever it's called now. Batwing is a good ride, but it also has some of the worst operations I've ever seen. Superman is easily the best coaster in the park, but it's somewhat boring if you've ridden other hypers. There's not much to it really. Then there's the pain that is Mind Eraser, one of, if not the, first Vekoma hang and bang. The only one I haven't ridden is Two Face simply because I avoid Boomerangs as much as I can. Not as bad as I've seen from other parks. The reliability is pretty good, however, in my experience, things tend to go down for hours at a time and reopen before the park closes. Superman and Batwing have broken down often, and I've watched Mind Eraser break once when the lift just stopped and they waited there. There was also a big commotion when Two Face broke one I believe Memorial Day weekend and people were stuck there for a few hours. There are some slow operations, especially at the rides that are more popular. The #1 offender is Batwing. Batwing takes forever to load, due to the nature of the restraints and the ride, and the second load track was used sparingly during its opening year and hasn't been used consistently since. Therefore, it always has a long wait. Superman also has some pretty bad operations from time to time. The break run is really short so they really can't have more than two trains on at one time. This coupled with some poor loading and unloading procedures can be annoying. The last example is also true. The park is pretty darn ugly. The lands in the front that have remained relatively unchanged since it was Wild/Adventure World are pretty nice, your basic amusement park theming. However, the newer Six Flags stuff, especially around the Gotham City and Superman/Batwing areas, is all concrete and steel. Not a tree or shade anywhere. That's one of my major complaints with the park: there's no shade. With minimal trees and tons of sidewalk and blacktop, it feels really hot and somewhat uncomfortable. It's in Prince Georges County, Maryland, which some people consider to be a bit of the armpit of MD. Around the park itself, there's not much. There's a really big church and the start of some housing but that's about it. It's off a main road, so there's some traffic but nothing horrible. However, the typical local audience is the same as the typical local audience in every Six Flags: unsupervised teenagers who don't give a care. What I've heard that happens in Magic Mountain is remarkably similar to what I've seen at SFA. It's funny how things work like that It depends on how important the credits are to you. If I were making the decision between the former two and SFA, I'd choose the former two every time. I've had better experiences with Hershey and Kennywood, far better than I've ever had at SFA. The feel of the park is something that is very important to me. Hershey and Kennywood feel, to me, welcoming and have a sense of history and stability. SFA feels hard worked and, frankly, kind of ghetto. Some people in the area categorize SFA as one-step up from someone setting up a moon bounce in your cul-de-sac or a parking lot carnival. Personally, I don't think it's that bad, but it's not the most wonderful park I've ever been to. Neither. Potatoes man! I will reiterate, it's my home park, so I may be a little biased because it's the closest thing to me. I hope all that is a little bit helpful. -Stuart
