  1. That bit in the video about the 4 themes having the same amount of attractions really doesn't make me excited for this at all, it makes me think of theme park world not RCT. If Americana is actually a generic theme, i'd rather it got the majority of rides and then the other 3 have some themed rides instead of being shared equally between the 4. Although the other option could be RCT2 style they all share the same style attractions but have different themes, but the more I read about this the less excited I get, It could turn out to be different, but in my mind i'm picturing that one patch has to be western themed in the park and the monorail that takes me to the next patch which would have to be a sci-fi area etc.
  2. I'm a big fan of South Korea's rice wine, it's called makoli here and the biggest crime is I rarely see people pick up the flavored ones like ICing off the shelves in the big marts and despite the amount of alcohol in the 24 hour stores, I rarely see it there as well they tend to mostly only have the plain makoli as opposed to flavored ones. People tend to forgo taste and just get drunk as fast they can with the $1 soju bottles, i've even seen that in what look like juice box cartons I might actually have to stop in some of the 24 hour shops and see if there is any ICing the convenience stores after work and try it again, its been a while since I have had one.
  3. Hey don't distract him, he's protecting all the money for future projects.
  4. Quit spreading this BS rumor around. There was never anything to "drop." There was no contract. Just because CF doesn't have any current Intamin projects doesn't mean they never will again. This is the same stupid rumor that people said about SFMM for YEARS. And then all of a sudden SFMM went and did 3 Intamin projects in a row! Heck even the one that does exists only trax's these days, I haven't seen the aqua in a few years, I dread to think what would happen under SFMM
  5. NO!!! It is to be taken SERIOUSLY! Mantis WILL be re-located. AquaTrax WILL be built!! Wait, I thought they were converting Mantis into the worlds first B&M Aquatrax.
  6. Maybe i'm wrong but I assumed the black boxes that say blockpoint locations in the above photo were so there can be multiple trains on the track. It says there will be 8 trains so i'm assuming more than one will be going round at the same time.
  7. At least for the last ride if it's one station wouldn't they have to dispatch the empty trains for you to arrive back into the station so you'll duel an empty train?
  8. I asked the same question just after the announcement since the length described confused me that two sides just over 4000ft each would become one ride of 5000ft even with bits cut out of the ride and I think it's understandable that people are confused. I mean i'm probably going to have to eat my words on this since so many people have already poked fun at the people who were unsure but i'd just assumed that the video was just for illustration purposes and had combined them for whatever reason and wasn't 100% accurate. I got it after some-one else explained it but I think its understandable people are confused, not something that is easily apparent within seconds of the video starting.
  9. Just to add to the non portable vibe, here's lotte worlds smaller version that probably is just a park version of the carnival ride.
  10. Isn't calling this a clone of a zacspin, a bit like calling Gerstlauer spinning coasters clones of Mauher Sohnes spinning coasters, or B&M flyers clones of vekomas flying dutchmans? I mean yes very similar concepts but isn't clone a bit too far?
  11. it's not a racer...it's one track with 2 lift hills. so, i hope there is something that can sync the trains on the lift. The press release says That length doesn't match up at all with it being one long ride, wouldn't that mean it's staying the same as a racer with two sides?
  12. The castles for the current night time parade/show, the area is usually a central point to hold things for the parade, in this case the castle and floating lanterns that expand out to surround the rink during the showand to people a place as the parade goes around while the floats are coming. I haven't had a chance to see the current night-show since I generally hit the park in the mornings to get fast-passes and quiet morning ridesbeing in the middle of the city, night-times pick up a lot of students/couples/workers buying evening passes but here's some videos on youtube someone has posted of it, it looks really pretty so I do want to see it at some point though, if everything as similar as the pictures look so far expect an updated/copied version to show up at Romon World : The castle is mainly in the beginning and ending segments [youtu_be] [/youtu_be][youtu_be] [/youtu_be][youtu_be] [/youtu_be] This was the center piece before the castle, a giant inflatable santa claus was inside.
  13. Honestly, having made a few trips this summer vacation with friends, I don't think it's worth the money even then. It's a shame you can't buy it in park minus the admission costs when you can judge the crowds. We went on a quiet day with friends who have children so I knew they would be operating on half day operations but generally because I go on my own I didn't realize how difficult that made it when you had a whole family and pram to push around. Championship Rodeo/The pirate ship on the top level, let's twist/rock spin in the middle and mystery mansion/rotating house on the bottom all alternating with 10-2 and 3-closing times combined with a lot of the younger childrens rides either being closed or only open for 2 hours and some of the more family friendly rides only opening after 1pm at meant we spent most of the day running up and down the hills to grab everything and missing a lot of the timed stuff we'd reserved tickets for because we were constantly against the clock to get a ride in for one of the children and just to exhausted to run back up the hill for our time in the playground/concert. I went by myself on a rainy day on a weekday after some training assuming crowds would be dead and hit 70 minute lines for flat rides and T Express pushing a 2 hour line with operations the same above meaning it was constanly a rush when another attraction opened. I've found that going on weekends when they only have Mystery Mansion and Rotating House open on the half days, actually easier to get around and less waiting than weekdays. It's just pot luck, i've been weekdays that are dead but you face the clock still for getting around and weekdays where there have been huge lines whereas weekends and fridays you know there will be a queue for the safari rides and flume ride but the rest of the park (even T Express) you can walk on a lot of stuff if you know what time to hit which areas. On another note, i've noticed that the heli-cycles haven't run in a few months now, I hope they do something with the area because Everland already has so many pieces of old rides sitting around rusting throughout the park.
  14. I think thats kind of unfair, I don't really see negativity in the TR, he talks about how great the new reservation system is. What I see is someone who regularly visits and so can point out flaws against previous visits or things that can be addressed. I think this is true for many people's TR's who frequent the same parks over and over. Look at most of the SFMM and Fuji Q TR's by people who have frequented the parks often or my own Everland TR's compared to when I first visited Korea. There's a big difference between being negative just to hate on a park and appearing negative because you are comparing to earlier personal experiences.
  15. ^ It has and I always felt there were some similarities but it wasn't until this update just now looking at that glass dome and the castle that I suddenly felt like I was seeing almost an updated Lotte World, even the building from the outside looks so similar to Lotte Worlds before I could see comparisions here and there but it really clicked with these photos and looking back at my own. The stage, the pillars, the carousel and pirate ships placements etc.
  16. I'm curious with all that talk about retheming Battlestar that went on a few pages ago, if they would ever consider turning the whole sci-fi area into just a transformers area when it reopens, instead of humans/cylons turning it into autobots/decepticons. I love my what the frak t-shirt and loved the tv series, but the ride always seemed one of the quietest on my visits, perhaps turning the red sides trains into something optimus primish and the blue side into megatrons would help revitalize it. Converting the battlestar and cylon ship into transformers ships wouldn't be too hard. Coming 2015, Transformers: Battle for Cybertron.
  17. One more update from something I mentioned in my TR, Everlands fast-pass I spotted at a special ticket booth and posted in my TR is now being advertised on the website for foreigners as well and became available on the 4th of August, it's a little on the expensive side for only 3 fast-passes (it includes entry but you won't get the foreigner discount this way) but something to consider if you have limited time and are there on a peak day if T Express is running fast-pass only with a closed standby line. Unlike the Korean website however you can't book in advance and there are only 500 a day so arrive early. The fast passes for T Express take you up a path which I believe is mainly used for the operators to get to the station and will bring you right into the station so you'll be on the next train, the safari rides we used in the past have a seperate entrance where you will merge but is still a very small wait. http://www.everland.com/web/multi/english/everland/everland_guide/news/1210136_10988.html http://www.everland.com/web/multi/english/everland/everland_guide/news/1210138_10988.html
  18. I was watching Hook the other day as well with my students , although I can see people are already posting about it on the dead celebrities thread: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=51312&start=1270 I finally saw a 4Dx movie here in Korea, I saw How To Train Your Dragon 2, I'm glad I experienced one since they seem unique to Korea for now, but I'm not sure i'll see another one in 4d. In a theme park it's fine but for a long movie it was basically slightly tilting seats and a wind machine which was more distracting than anything and one or two times I felt the wind machine drowned out dialogue and music. I'm not a tall guy by any means but my knees got a whack or two during the movie when the seats in front tilted back. The cinema also boosted SoundX which i'm not quite sure what it is but there were a lot of speakers, maybe to compensate for the wind machine.
  19. I remember the model of that ride well but I believe there was issues with manufacturing which mean Vekoma could not deliver the ride to the park so thats how they ended up with Odyssey. Id be surprised if the park doesn't get purchased in some form just for the market alone. The market is always insanely busy. Weren't they still attempting to build it even after Odyssey for a very short while before it all got quietly dropped? I remember a working model with the advertisment coming 2003 near the indoor ticket booth while Odyssey was already under construction.
  20. A quick update, I popped into Lotte World and they've implemented a very similar reservation policy that T Express has for Fairy Trail Dream Boats. Whether it's permanent or just until the opening crowds die away have yet to be seen. It's very similar to T Expresses system but unlike T Express where new tickets become available every hour with first come first serve then you can line up an hour later, Dream Boats have 2 hour blocks with new reservation tickets becoming available every 2 hours to be able to get into line 2 hours later. The ride seems very low capacity and was extremely popular so I didn't check if like Everland the ride is 100% fast-pass only with no standby line allowed or if it was a mixture of both. I'd assume not because there were signs stating something about only 20 reservation tickets being available each hour, seems kind of strange to implement a fastpass system that can only allow 20 people and there was a lot more people in the line than that but it may be a mistranslation, I was only visiting the park for a very short time and couldn't justify waiting in the huge line that was wrapping around the area just to index it (sorry Larry). There are only a few boats and they only take 2 people so we saw a lot of boats with mother and child with a dad in the next one so I couldn't even guess how long people had been waiting. It's a very short ride so you can walk around the whole thing and see everything without taking the boat but there was just too many people surrounding it to get any clear pictures this time, i'll post a mini TR next time I visit if the crowds are lower, but it definitely seems a hit for Lotte World.
  21. I always loved the first drop of the giant SLC there, it looks fine from outside the park but from the front seat, it suddenly seemed almost vertical. I hope if the park closes it can be relocated somewhere. Not sure about Millenium it's such a spread out layout designed to surround the whole park I wonder if it could be moved, it's one of the smoothest vekomas i've ever been on. Aren't a lot of the flat rides converted from trailer versions? I feel like the Top Scan and Amazing Confusion could hit a European Fair circuit perhaps, i've only ever seen another like Amazing Confusion when I was in Hong Kong. Apart from that I don't remember many other rides apart from the really long indoor dinghy slide and the tilting S&S Tower. Some of the other more intresting rides like that 300ft slingshot and huge fabbri booster ride left a while ago. Anybody remember when they had plans to make a 300ft tall Vekoma Half Pipe style ride? They had a working model near the ticket boothes and everything. I'd always planned to revisit the park when they introduced wristbands since I could only ever afford one go on things on my last visit but I never did fit in the time before moving to Korea.
  22. These were the old Gyro Swing foam lined and encased scream shields from my earlier TR compared to the new ones I posted above: Also this is unrelated but I just got it back from the wedding company, in Korea the groom also has to choose music to walk down the aisle to since he enters after the crowd, I was told most men use Pirates of the Caribbean but I wasn't overly fond of that so I chose something else (after my wife veto'd the blackadder theme) that I thought some TPR members might appreciate [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
