Yes though the article looks completely bogus, I was just curious if any-one thinks that the next disney park after Shanghai would be Korea or a park would come here in the not too distant future. I personally don't think so since Korea will soon be in the middle of 2 existing parks, Tokyo is just over 2 hours by plane and Shanghai isn't exactly that far away either but that didn't stop Universal from almost making a park here and Osaka is just over an hour away by plane. On the other side to that, flying across isn't overly cheap like Europe as well, I never really see many budget airline companies like ryanair or easyjet etc. for short trips. Also as I pointed out in my OP, Korea does seem to be big on family friendly parks and rides lately and the attendance for the 2 big parks here is pretty high. Like most countries, Frozen went down extremely well here I think it was the most seen animation by a huge margin here in cinemas. There is also the fact that anti Japan sentiments can be pretty high here sometimes, there are a few Koreans who still refuse to visit Japan or Tokyo, even the news always seems to have something bad to broadcast about Japan now and again. As an outside I try not to comment when they talk about history or where some-one did pictures but even I end up rolling my eyes when I see headlines accuses Japan of removing a Korean actor from a movie poster, especially when it's a minor character who wasn't on any posters even the ones in Korea. But then again on every visit I've made to Japan people try and warn me about all the radiation.

I'm not sure if that's the feature he is referring to in the picture though since it wasn't part of the ride when it opened but I can't think of anything else. We used to make yearly trips and I think remember my first ride on it was without the tilting seats. They were added some time later with a name change before it went back to being a normal S&Stower. Not sure if it was when it changed but it used to have a yellow cap at the end of the tower. I think they altered the name when they added the seats as well to perhaps help market it as a new attraction, not sure which was the original and which was the updated one but I have memories of it being called Volcanic Eruption and Volcanic Impact. Looking at the TR I guess they changed it again to Volcano. I think the first time I ever went to FI was when they had a top spin ride where Beast was and then the year after that was a superbowl ride. I'd just hit the 1.4m when we visited Chessington when Samurai was the new ride (and we had quite a decent wait for it too) so I was so excited to discover Fantasy Island had a top-scan after that since it was my first big thrill ride especially with the cycle it ran, I think I spent about 90% of my normal tokens on it so it's sad to see that its down for the count now. Does Butlins still have it's 3 slides, master blaster and space bowl flumes? They were my first ever water-slides. -
So i'm taking this with a big heap of salt until I see something more official but this has been trending all over social media in Korea that a disneyland park will come to Korea: http://m.iworldtoday.com/news/articleView.html?idxno=176797 Sorry the articles in Korean, I've yet to find an English article but the article is claiming a Disneyland is confirmed (not rumored) to be built in Incheon. To give you a rough idea of location it would be similar to Hong Kong Disney in being halfway between the city and the airport. I'd assume somewhere on the Incheon subway line since nearly all bus depots across Korea have frequent buses to the airport so that would connect it up to most of Korea. Here's the thing, I've seen this article shared a lot today and I'm extremely skeptical. The picture doesn't scream Disney to me at all, not just the look but I can't see a park being constructed around some high-rises where you can see a lot of backstage. Also with Shanghai opening soon and Tokyo in the other direction, Korea is already in the middle of two parks that are not that far by airplane. However I thought I'd share the article anyway because I'm curious if any-one thinks a Korean Disney Park would happen like this article claims is "confirmed." Lotte World and Everland were two of the highest attended parks last year outside of Universal/Disney (only Ocean Park had more I think), with Lotte World matching Hong Kong Disney, 2015 might have a dip in attendance since a lot of the country avoided public places in springtime (one of the busier times) after a MERs outbreak in Korea. There's also the fact looking at Korea's parks developments here that family parks and attractions are the thing that the owners seem to think will bring people in. We have Legoland in 2017 and the last time that we had something aimed at thrill-seekers in the whole country was probably 2008 when T-Express was installed (with the removal of Eagles Fortress and the Boomerang at another park SBNO apparently I think the number of coaster has decreased from 2008 - now). Everland & Lotte World have installed countless new rides in the 6 years I've been here but I think apart from a Gyro-spin at Lotte World, pretty much all of them have been aiming for 1m- 1.1m minimum height restrictions. Grand Park in Seoul removed their looping coaster and re-did the whole park to fill it with rides for the family, the looping coaster was replaced by a family suspended, the drop tower has a pulley on top so it can't drop fast and they removed their brand new intamin gyro-swing. As I said I'm skeptical about this announcement that is making the rounds currently, but I'm curious if anyone thinks that the next Disney park could be Korea?

Sorry for yet another post but T Express policies are changing again: http://witheverland.tistory.com/1120 I figured it will probably be one of the main reasons TPR members would ever go to Everland so when it comes to T Express I try to post when something changes. Sorry if I'm repeating stuff I mentioned in previous TRs. On weekdays, the queue is like most parks and will have a standby line and a fast pass line. Single rider should also be available. However the fast-pass system is a little different than other free parks e.g. Disney or Lotte World. SInce quite a few people tend to come for just the afternoons instead of having it first come first serve in the morning they have 2 time-slots. Around park opening will offer fast passes for the morning first come first serve until they run out and since a lot more rides tend to be closed during weekdays or on limited hours and late openings, I've found the lines longer in peak months (and some off peak) on weekdays than on Sundays when the park runs full capacity so the passes run out fast. They then start again with a fresh batch of tickets for the evening at 3PM if you miss out during the morning. These tickets are ONLY available at T Express. Weekends/holidays will once again be reservation only until 3PM, so there will be no stand-by line and if you do want to skip the queue completely using single-rider you will also need a reservation. The stand-by line will open after 3PM but will close when it gets to the point where T Express needs to cease operations in time for the fireworks display. However these tickets are available all over the park and even though it's printed on the map everyone runs to T Express ticket booth. I know I've mentioned it before but save yourself a big wait and go to the ticket booth in aesop village (the area with the kiddie coaster), the one near the bumper cars or the one near the childrens car ride. It's nearly always empty. Another bonus of writing this post it gives me an excuse to share this very Korean video where the Everland mascots fight a virus near T Express with lightsabers and one of the safari rides amphibious vehicles. Imagine if you had to go to your doctor to prove you are healthy enough to ride a coaster before Six Flags would let you ride it.... I don't have a "dog in this fight", but this is potentially huge news for the industry so it's fun to watch it play out. A little off-topic, sorry but with people talking about what is legal and not legal I remembered that I've seen in parks in Asia where people over 50 are not allowed on some of the bigger thrill rides/coasters or in 4D cinemas at the multiplexes. Heck I even saw a log flume once where up to 65 year olds could ride for men but only 55 years old for women. I just wonder how that would play out if other parks had those kinds of policies.

Honestly everyone was fine. Far better than your average Thorpe Park clientele thats for sure! I don't remember that. The only credit I remember at Butlins was the powered figure 8 Dragon coaster. This would be early 90's. They had the one I mentioned and the powered dragon (which still lives on somewhere according to RCDB) After the chairlift but when they still had a monorail (I think the monorail had new trains around then). Butlins funfair seemed to change so much so often. One year there would be a massive pirate ship, another and the twister would be gone or the funfair had moved. It always seemed a huge funfair to have for a holiday camp,at least to the mind of a very young boy, but my Dad used to say that it was even bigger when he was a child. Seems back then Billy Butlin had a lot of camps and really put a lot into his fairs. One of the parks even had a boomerang at one point apparently. -

I think my first credit was Butlins Skegness, back when the funfair was in a different location and much much bigger. There was almost like a homemade-coaster in a back corner near a car ride (I think it might have had trains instead of cars though since if my very foggy memory serves right, they had both at the time in 2 locations of the fair), it was blue track and was just a tiny chain lift followed by a drop and one hill in a circle and went round a few times before ending. It was ran by a guy with 2 giant levers. Sadly I've never been able to find a clear picture of it, I've seen a few pics here and there of what could be it or from another Butlins that could be a copy/similar but was never able to confirm. The only photo I've found was this: http://www.butlinsmemories.com/skegness/photos1962/id014.htm based on the train ride and the two seater cars I remember I've always assumed it was that one, but I would have rode it around 30 years after this photo! I forgot how big Butlins funfairs used to be when I was a child compared to now. I remember going to Fantasy Island each year also. That park was always changing. I miss g-force, the biggest version of the fabbri booster and also miss their giant slingshot with tilting seats they used to have near the, also gone, ferris wheel. I also remember Volcano having the tilting seats one year. Lastly I remember getting in line to get my tokens just after Odyssey opened and they were advertising a massive half pipe with rotating trains with a model in the inside area. -
Aren't the supports under just as much stress as the track? It doesn't make sense to leave the supports alone, especially if they're at the end of their service life like the track segments are. It's better to just replace the whole thing. Do supports have the same service life as track? I'm thinking of some of the older wooden coasters here as an example so I may be way off here since the structures are vastly different but it always seems the track gets a lot more work and replacement than the supports do.

I accidentally clicked the wrong link in the reply notification and went to the first page. I had forgot about the voting that Stealth had back then for a name and had a good chuckle. Although speaking of memory lane I also remember way back when people spent months talking about silly rumors about Chessington getting rid of Samurai and sending it to Thorpe Park and how that would never happen. -

Coca cola hot dogs are a Tokyo Disney thing now: http://kotaku.com/tokyo-disneyland-has-coke-flavored-hot-dogs-kind-of-1735606521 Didn't HKDL also change one of it's main street restaurants to have coca-cola themed items? I don't remember the name but it was the place that did this for dessert. I think it was a few months after I took this that they changed up the menu to coca-cola flavoured things. Edit: It was the Corner Cafe: https://www.hongkongdisneyland.com/dining/hong-kong-disneyland-park/main-street-corner-cafe/ -
I managed to sneak off and see Book of Mormon when I took my wife's family to London this summer. I also saw Phantom of the Opera with her as well and I think it's her new favorite musical. We'd seen it in Korea but was so different seeing it on a permanent stage made for the phantoms theatrics. The touring productions that come to Korea are all very very good, the lighthearted ones we saw like Avenue Q & Rock of Ages really seem the same from when I'd seen them before but Phantom was something else seeing it on that stage. Book of Mormon looked quite similar in that there weren't really that many effects that can't travel with the show. It was weird being back at a UK production after so long in Asia,I'd forgotten how different people react at the end. At most of the Korean shows I've seen, people tend to go crazy at the curtain bow and are straight on their feet and quite a few productions allow photos during that time here as well. Here every-one clapped and only when the phantom came out did people get to their feet. There were a lot of Chinese tourists in the front who were getting told off for pulling out cameras at that point as well, different theater culture for them I guess.

Huh, looks like G-Max from Tobu Zoo is one of the used drop towers on that site, now if only I could find out what happened to that un-opened gyro swing that Seoul's Children's Grand Park had before they went for a family friendly park make-over.. -
THIS! If you're still making a saving then does the increase really matter? The only reason I dropped my AP at Everland was because with foreigner discounts or different monthly offers with Korean cards, including queue passes, I'd have to end up going a lot more times than I was to make my AP more worthwhile than starting to buy day tickets. I had a pass that blocked out peak season weekends and since that was when I avoided the park anyway (and I worked weekdays) it all came down to which one was the better deal for how often I visited. If you're claiming the new pass prices are not worth the value or your not saving any money on them, maybe you have to realize that you just aren't vising the park that much and that's why Disney sells another option... day passes!
-
I'm kind of curious as an outsider, how much money/time do the AP pass holders spend when they visit each time? My closest comparison is Everland and living not too far away, I do notice a lot of pass-holders (including whole families of my students who go almost every other weekend) tend to just go for a few hours grab a quick few rides and then leave without spending a penny. The shuttle buses are always packed even in the evening with families showing up for a free night parade and fireworks show. The cost for a normal annual pass here is just under 4 trips worth and a 2 year pass makes it an even better bargain but some spend almost nothing in park, especially since most just bring their own snacks/lunch to eat somewhere while waiting for a show, is it a similar situation? Its been a few years since I had an AP there but they used to scan the passes if you brought anything, I think it gave discount or if you spent so much you got vouchers etc as an incentive to encourage AP's but back then I wasn't sure what they were saying when they scanned it each time I brought something so my memory is fuzzy on the subject.

So something that wasn't there on my last photo TR or the concept art is the massive roof they built to shelter the entire playground: http://witheverland.tistory.com/1113 -
Someone brought up how difficult it would be to heartline a ride like this, but just to build off of you - what if the track could split to allow the sit-down and inverted trains to interact (with individual heartlines), then come back together for, say, a big marquee vertical loop? You could have one tall loading station, or two side-by-side with the tracks merging before the lift hill or launch, like the Intamin or B&M dual stations but without the switch track. Just an idea. Now I keep picturing the splitting coaster from RCT3.

Could it be a case of having to follow the manufacturers specifications on when they can run it? So even if it can clear the tower if Intamin say do not run this ride if winds are over x mph or temperature is below... I know at Everland T-Express is one of the first that has to shut down in weather conditions such as rain, wind and temperature. They usually time the rehab each year for Jan/Feb just because there are almost no days they are allowed to run it and when we used to make trips in November/December it was always a big gamble (https://www.everland.com/web/multi/english/everland/attractions/popup/pop_attraction_standard.html) -

No offense but I kind of find it hard to believe that a ride, where part of the experience is shaking your seats, would have a design flaw where the whole ride could need extended maintenance if too many people shake their seat at inappropriate times. People are always going to do things like that during raising and lowering regardless of announcements, look at all the times people pull down their lap-bars before a seat belt check on Full Throttle. I'm sure this would have been considered when the ride was being developed. Speaking of simply science.... you know rides usually have counterweights on the other end, right? If the seats are all mounted centrally so they can spin in a circle easily, surely the stress isn't overly different spinning vs non-spinning, I'd assume as an operator you are aware of that. -
I don't, sorry. We all know it's getting new trains with a lot of people expecting vest restraints and possibly floorless, track is getting replaced, the queue is getting updated and the launch is being worked on. The ride is closed for less than a year so I don't think we'll be seeing anything too unexpected, plus wouldn't they have to apply for permission to change the layout? The application people saw a few months ago mentioned the launch but no track changes. There could be a change in theme, right? I don't remember the press release referring to the "new" coaster as the Hulk, just as having "an incredible personality". I saw a picture of one of the construction walls that said The Incredible Hulk Coaster returns 2016 and the walls are covered with Hulk comic squares but anything is possible.
