  1. Count me as a fan too. I still laugh when I remember, as a little boy and knowing nothing about this attraction, getting really annoyed at someone's phone going off and still buying the illusion when the guy ran on stage. I thought it was a great love letter to the movies and a nice unique attraction here. Like others I agree on Armageddon, although I was never a big fan of the tram either. Didn't Studio's have a version or something similar to Cyberspace Mountain across from Cinemagique a very long time ago? I remember designing a coaster and amazed how much I went upside down but couldn't find too much info online
  2. So apparently there are fast pass scalpers now in Shanghai Disney....
  3. A boat ride floating along on a river of Guiness.
  4. Probably the next few pages of this thread after that comment:
  5. New attraction coming based on a popular Korean kids tv show will open March 11. Not sure where until maps update but with Pororo 3D (another popular cartoon) recently closed down and the characterium that used to be filled with little areas based on other popular tv shows, either locations seem like likely candidates. T Express and the water attractions have just finished their winter rehab and March 1st will kick off the tulip festival, however the Everland resort hotel opening Spring 2017 is still just dirt and there's been no mention anywhere if it's postponed or cancelled, although I'm sure Samsung have bigger issues right now....
  6. Saw this post and figured I'd check out the fb page and that's where I saw this "review"....
  7. Please tell me people didn't argue about passing the sword relay games at least.... otherwise I weep for humanity. I've always wanted to try that relay game on a coaster but Asian park's don't really ever do enthusiast events or big media days... although reading some of the topics lately, maybe they are smarter for not doing that.
  8. ^No, you can see the restraints under the tarp but it may be a case that the restraints don't actually lock and the seat belt is the only thing holding them on. Here's a picture withouth the tarp. Source
  9. Although the link I posted was from a British paper since it was first one that came up, the news actually came to my attention by way of the Korean media but seemed a little pointless to link that one when I could find an English copy, so it is getting attention in places that aren't as focused on theme park accidents.
  10. Apparently there was another fatality on a similar knock-off yesterday: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4188586/Girl-14-dies-thrown-swing-ride.html
  11. Saw this earlier as reported but was waiting for it to be confirmed before posting: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-38778145 RIP John Hurt
  12. Does Shanghai switch to reservation only like Hong Kong does during the new year? I feel like I will have an awful time but since it's one of the few times my school closes and I have a few days off, looking into going in a few years around then when I can afford it. Although I don't think the Chinese take off the same days as Korea for thanksgiving so maybe the 3 day chuseok might be better.
  13. I think it got a little over-shadowed in the thread by the Pirates discussion and video, understandably - that ride is the only one I'm really interested in out of all of Shanghai (maybe Tron, Robb's review was a bit higher than some people I know who went and thought it was fun but weren't too bothered about getting re-ride unlike Pirates) and it alone is enough to make me budget to go there in the next few years, but I forgot to say when the HKDL TR was posted how much I adore Mystic Manor. Although in terms of showing off what you can do with the trackless technology I still think Pooh's disco room with all the cars is my favorite or Aquatopia but as an overall ride, Mystic Manor may be one of my favorite Disney rides I've ever been on (although it's been a while since my last DisneySea trip so maybe I need a refresher on how much I enjoyed Journey and ToT) Also random question, has anyone on your trips ever been brave enough to try the pufferfish? I always see it when I visit the main part of Osaka but I always end up backing out and using the money for a express pass or planning a side trip to a Yokohama park or Tobu instead.
  14. I think Level 13 came up last year in this thread or in someone's TR because I definitely remember it being discussed.
  15. ^I think you'd like the disco pang-pang rooms they have across Korea these days. Inside tagadas in the dark with disco lights.
  16. ^Yea but I don't put too much faith in Korean concept art, it changes all the time. Look at the gyro swing that Children's Park had on it's art and was still removed during the remodel. The concept art you posted was when it was a 2016 project themed to an alpine village before it became the 2018 project and themed to Fantasy Realms so it could still be the teal track if the plans were altered (although the Sheikra picture makes me hopeful it hasn't been.) I'm just glad to see any big coaster since it will be 10 years since T Express at Everland by the time it opens. A lot of concept arts or signs are put up and left or is just a placeholder before things get confirmed even when plans change or get abandoned. Eagle's Fortress had a under refurbishment sign for years after it closed down and even now that site is covered with pictures of a grand hotel for Spring 2017 when the land is still just a flattened dirt pile. Very rarely does the art turn out anywhere near the final version. Heck, I've got so used to smaller rides coming to Korea that, although this new update with a picture of Sheikra put those fears a little more to rest for me, with the construction site empty for so long, coupled with the news of a Zamperla Thunderbolt coming to Korea apparently around 2018, and the press release focusing more on "a 90 degree drop", I really thought that it might be what ended up here instead. Trust me, no-one wants to see a big B&M here more than me, and I would much prefer it over a Thunderbolt, but I've learnt that you really have to wait until track or the ride is on site here to know what the final version is. Heck even that original art showed a Mondial Ultra Max before they settled on the Zamperla model.
  17. There's a construction wall between Hurricane and Championship Rodeo and it's going to be another VR ride and..... yea, I'm just not excited. I didn't really enjoy the VR I tried. I know Samsung owns Everland and VR is the thing they are trying to sell but this will be the 5th addition in a row when we've seen a few other physical rides and areas close lately. If I was to guess, since we already have two static VR's nearby with the ferris wheel and Pride in Korea and the VR simulator of T Express (not to mention the train has a VR option) I wouldn't be too surprised if this ended up being one of these versions of the 360's they showed off at CES 2017. 18. So Gyeongju World updated the site to include the new attractions coming to their 3rd gate Snow Park. It's listed as a 3rd gate on the site but I think looking at prices it might be included in admission for Gyeongju World or a cheaper separate admission for people who only want the snow tube slopes. Perhaps Tim can chime in and clear that up. I guess it could work as a completey separate gate, as a winter alternative to the water park, since currently it's only the slopes but I couldn't see how that would work in the summer with only three rides. Anyway the new rides are a Zamperla Air Race in May 2017, a Zamperla Mega Swing 360 in January 2018 and the long rumored B&M Dive coaster (at least judging by the Sheikra picture) in May 2018. I find it interesting that in the last 8 years I lived here the only ride I've seen installed with a high-ish height restriction was a Disk-o at Lotte World until this year when E-Land opened an Air Race and Mega Swing 360 and now the same two rides are coming to a different park in Korea. With a Zamperla Thunderbolt coming as well somewhere (and North Korea's main amusement park being full of them) Zamperla seems to be doing quite well here. Source Source
  19. ^Looks like the insane "kill your nuts" hill has gone. Wouldn't it be the must Fuji-Q thing in the world if the only change was the removal of the only hill and then just have it go up into the brake run from there? I'd say without that hill and the insane pop at the top, perhaps it would mean they could install longer trains for capacity but.... it's Fuji-Q.
  20. Lotte World's VR on Gyro Drop seems pretty successful so far, the ride was almost always walk-on and is now drawing in quite a fair amount of people. I'm still not a fan but at least it is optional.
  21. One opened here in Korea at Lotte Tower (which is huge I was in Seoul this weekend and could see it from so many places) and unlike Lotte Water park (at the other end of the country) is actually next to Lotte World for those who would want to incorporate it into their theme park trips, and I definitely want to take my son there. Although at 8 months old he has a lot of growing to do first.
  22. Those Thunderbolt's seem to be popular here in Asia, Another Thunderbolt was sold and should be coming to Korea although probably not for 2017.
  23. Quick notes I've seen from various blogs and pictures to address things from my posts and others: -VR is still extremely popular with lines almost 3 hours long. -They've added sliding lockers, the kind that alternate for trains so it seems with the ride now being so popular it will hopefully be 2 train operation now as opposed to the 1 train it tended to run. -VR is optional -Flying Machine has signs and an entrance for magic pass (to address Tim's query) but it won't open for a while until opening has died down and operations have normalized, staff have got into routine and they can judge crowds etc. -Flying Machine's entrance takes you down to a new level before you get in the ride line so it'll probably become a new themed area for new attractions like Underland did. Don't expect anything too huge since it's under the existing Lotte World, but it is a decent sized space. Probably similar to how Underland went from a 4D triotech ride and exteriors on existing restaurants, to expanding with kids road train and a mini flume and then the wild trio simulators, current expectations are more media rides and ones that won't have too much height variance.
  24. Just out of curiosity for future trips, what rides were given time slots for the express 7? Did you get those on the day? I remember it being a coupon book when I last went but we were told by some people that lived in Japan and visited a little while ago that since Harry Potter came along, express passes can be gone before even opening because it let's you get around the timed entry to the area and since Japanese can reserve ahead of time on the site it, we should ask someone to do it for us if we did go out.
  25. Gyro Drop II VR will open tomorrow.
