Everland Discussion Thread
Garet replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So Everland's new VR ride is a robot arm with VR attached: http://witheverland.tistory.com/1678 It will be a paid add-on made by reservation outside the building. It's also interesting to note this is yet another article with mention of Everland becoming an I.T. park: Everland accelerates transformation into 'IT theme park' What with this being the 4th VR ride installed in a row with all other additions to the park recently being hologram shows, 3D movies or updates to the simulator and the removal of a dark ride for a garden it will be interesting to see what direction they take the park. -

So with the ferris wheel in this one that's all 4 accounted for now from when there was a vote to choose which one was in the Christmas update right? -

Panda Power Selfie Stick goes hand in hand with Panda Power Power Glove. Although my favorite of that line of merchandise is still Panda Power Pop-Up Panda. Not actual merchandise official names -

Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread
Garet replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I made that mistake, I got treated to time off in March thinking it would be quiet after always wanting to go in "off-peak" and hit 3 hour lines across the board for TDS. Next time will probably aim for Korean thanksgiving in the fall over March or Summer/Christmas weeks. Interestingly enough although the park stayed rammed even in the rain, a blizzard rolled through in the morning and even though the park started packed people had deserted the park by mid-day. I saw 5 minutes for Splash Mountain and Winnie the Pooh with the longest line was Monster's at 45 minutes in the afternoon. -
I edited it onto my original post but Everland had a different reservation system than T express' on the old flume ride that was interesting and I feel would work better than reservation only. The standby would be open until the lines hit (x) amount of minutes then it would switch to reservation only. I don't see why this couldn't be a thing here apart from it would ruin their "queue-free" marketing take on this. Like the earlier report it seems silly to have people stuck for 45 minutes when other rides could have 10-15 minute lines which could be open in between while quiet. Sorry to keep high-jacking this thread it's just two things. 1) They keep talking about waiting it out in the wavepool/lazy river as if it's a benefit for the guests and after 7 years in Asia i've tried waiting out in those bfore. I've tried the busy Asian water parks. Seen those viral photos of sardine can wave-pools? Plot twist: They are about as much fun as you think it would be looking at those pictures. It seems like it might be more to get the marketing of "queue free" park than the convenience of the guest. Surely people would rather wait 10-15 minutes than get turned away for their longer reservation or hit what could potentially be a very crowded wave pool. What is the average wait for a tube/body slide/speed slide without elements in Florida? (Here i've seen 40 minutes-an hour). and 2) I've seen and experienced reservation only policies here in Korea a lot, whether the Everland ones I mentioned or Lotte World trying it out on their version of Magic Pass+ either due to necessity due to floor repaving or just general testing and everytime I would have rather just stuck it out in a queue and had more choice on where I could ride. If you haven't noticed I haven't exactly been a fan of it so far. (I even made a thread asking if anyone saw the merits in reservation only parks a few years back) I remember thinking of going to Lotte World to do a Park Index update and finding some of the rides 100% reservation on the pass (which only gave you 3 a day back then) It'd be like showing up at Disney and being told "Enjoy your fastpasses anywhere you like but BTW if you don't use them on Soarin' and Test Track you can't ride."

Nagashima Spa Land Discussion Thread
Garet replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think Everland may have the same massive double ones, honestly I think they may be less exciting than regular ones, although it is cool looking around and seeing like 100 people on it with you. I've don't think I've ever seen the far side running even on crazy busy days when lines have hit 90 minutes-2 hours which is a shame because that would be cool to see with 200 people. I did manage to find this really old video of both sides by searching in Korean for it [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] -

Lotte World Adding 3 New Attractions For....2016!

Lotte World will be expanding their VR again with a VR zone somewhere in the park: http://www.lotteworld.com/webzine/2017vrfantasia/index.html -
Yep, although it was usually just 1-2 rows and quite a few single rider seats around 2-4 a train. It was just frustrating that even single rider required the ticket so I was wasting reservation tickets on what would have been empty seats anyway that could have gone to others. To be fair in Everland's defense I haven't seen the policy as much, and at least they let people in for 2-3 hours before they cut the line to close it before fireworks. Here's the sign that greeted me when I saw emptyish trains. My point being, it's super frustrating to be turned away and made to come back later for something that you could obviously fit in there an then. I mean isn't this essentially almost what Universal will be doing for each slide? Can't line up now come back at (x) p.m. In this system everyone would rush T Express in the morning to get a reservation and leave the rest of the park a lot quieter. So come opening, and everyone rushes the big one wanting that for reservation and then after that another big slide etc, how do you convince people to head to the smaller ones? Will they sit empty until more people arrive later? Edit: Everland did have a different reservation policy on the old flume that could potentially work here. They would open the standby line and ONLY when that line hit (x) minutes would switch to reservation only. I just feel that standbys aren't some evil that needs to be wiped out to enjoy your day. Nobody is going to a park and expecting not to wait in any line. Fast passes are great and a free system is even better but having the freedom of choice in between is what makes them worth it. Disney's known that for years.

Not completely related but Everland's water park runs reservation only on certain slides here in peak season and I hate it. They operate differently in that it's only the 3 bigger slides or sometimes just mega-storm but when that only leaves the lazy river and drives the crowds into the smaller slides I get bored just sitting around in the lazy river and it's not fun only having 3 slides available to line-up at. It seems this system could be the same in that you lose the freedom of choice as a consequence trying to juggle the time. Heck even for high capacity rides, it doesn't always completely work out. Here's T Express on a busy day when they were doing reservation only, when tickets had run out and you needed to trade one even for the single rider line. Reservation only is great in theory but I do feel standbys should always be an option and like Robb's example with lower waits it's super frustrating when you see something you could get done now with little to no line but can't.

I adore water parks and yet even though I barely do them here in Korea, because people wait 2-3 hours for even normal slides, whenever we look into doing Orlando we find that the maximum length we could probably get is a 2 week vacation. When we look at all the theme park to do, and considering it'd probably be a once in a life time trip, the water parks don't even cross our minds when factoring in all the parks, plus days where we can revisit ones we want re-rides or can't fit it all in and/or leaving empty days to move things in case of weather. I think Disney know what they're doing when they only add to those parks now and again.

Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
Garet replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
On the minus side that launch is the sole reason I turn into a meteorologist on my trips and spend a big chunk planning blank days around Fuji Q so I can adjust and go on the days when a leaf won't even rustle from wind, and I really hope that launch isn't changed. On the plus side if that launch is changed, I don't have any reason to ever go back to Fuji Q and can finally make time for better parks that I keep saving for a longer trip like Nagashima or Park Espana. -
^True, and I still don't really know if it is going here but as I said this ride has gone through different themes and dates of opening before it settled, could it be a case that the manufacturing started to meet an earlier date?
-
Never trust Korean amusement concept art, it can wildly vary where they just base it off stock images. The project has changed dates and themes since that artwork, it could still potentially be a smaller version and they just are using griffin as a place-holder

Thanks, after I posted I decided to check the site to see what the new books would be like now minions is coming and was pleasantly surprised to see it now lists English travel agencies who are licensed to sell the express passes, that wasn't there before. Probably don't have the time off or finances right now but since it's only an hour flight for me I always keep an eye out in-case of a long weekend. -
Red track could potentially be Korea's 2018 dive coaster perhaps? http://xn--289at3gn8chxtbyecg36lmrt1rf.kr/dark320.php

Robb & Elissa in Asia - 2016!
Garet replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Do you go through a broker to get the express pass that is Japanese only in advance? Or buy them at the park? I never used to have a problem but I've heard conflicting reports that since Harry Potter they could be sold out already and same with Flying Dinosaur 7 while other friends said it was fine. Considering asking the Japanese teacher at my school if we go next year to help me book but I normally don't like doing in advance since would hate to have a rainy day and miss out on Flying Dinosaur. -
Everland Discussion Thread
Garet replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So It seems as I guessed the attraction based on a kids tv show will replace Pororo 3D which itself was a 3d movie of a kids cartoon. Everland have also released artwork for the 4th VR attraction going near Hurricane, it's still unclear what it will be but I'm still leaning towards the 360 VR I posted above. -

Always wanted to experience the new years eve party there, but friend's who live in Japan and have tried said so many people apply for the lottery to get those tickets it's extremely hard. Disney Hotels are normally out of my price range anyway, but I also heard they are extremely highly priced during this event since it guarantees you tickets.
