  1. Awesome little Photo TR. I love SFMM, probably more than Cedar Point even though everyone scoffs at me for saying it. I guess terrible ride operations don't deter me much from the overall quality of the rides in the park. Wish I was down there right now... Thanks for the update Jahan, and Happy 5th of July!!!
  2. ^ I think it lasts through July, as the movie opens on Friday, July 27th.
  3. ^ LOL at Kegatron and Hoptimus Prime. Pure gold... I hope to go see Transformers very soon as I have heard good things and it's definitely one of those shows I watched religiously as a kid.
  4. ^ I like dopplebocks a lot, was that one any good? The cell phone pics aren't bad compared to the crap my cell phone takes. Glad I got my digicam working, how come yours isn't working? ^^^Yeah, there is a nice selection of Belgians at BevMo, I've been able to find all of the Rocheforts, along with plenty of Lindeman's Lambics and also Chimay. Happy 4th of July everyone! Break out them BBQs and let's get grilling! We're not doing much this year, we usually have a big driveway party at my uncles with all of the neighbors, and do fireworks afterwards (which are illegal here unfortunately) This time the family is just coming to my house and I'm BBQing two Tri-Tip Roasts, OH HO HO HO HO! Made fire and stood on driveway over at my uncles again last night. He had bought some of the beers I had him try that he liked a lot. It seemed too carbonated for me, but I say that an awful lot, tons of fizzy-ness just isn't my thing (maybe that's why i drink pepsi over coke?) Anyway, the flavors were quite good, got mostly pear and mango. 750ml is a lot though, and I wish I had shared this with someone. I had this beer when I came home. A new one for me, La Fin Du Monde, #66 in BAs top 100. ABV 9%. Pale in color. My uncle smoking a cigar by the fire in the driveway. I just love fire pictures, I could take hundreds of them and each one would be different. Yummy. We also had a Big Bear Black Stout after this, but we were playing Xbox 360 racing games on my uncles big plasma HDTV while sitting out by the fire with wireless controllers, so i forgot. Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. Outstanding once again... Started out easy with a Sunset Wheat that I had left over that last week. It was his first time trying it and he liked it quite a bit.
  5. I love the blurry trains. I wanna go to this park so bad!
  6. Last night I had the last of the Rocheforts I hadn't yet tried, #6. Tons of flavors as always, and a very spritzy mouthfeel. 10 is still the best in my book though. 'Til next time... Later! Rochefort 6. 7.5% ABV. I think I liked this one a good deal better than the 8, but it has been a while since I tried 8 so I'm not sure.
  7. Yeah, I read that somewhere else shortly after I posted, but it really doesn't make any sense to me. Duff beer is in the show all the time, and all of the shows are rated either TV-14, TV-PG, or TV-G... I don't see how beer could be a problem in a store related to a PG-13 movie, when several PG-13 movies I have seen show naked breasts for brief periods of time. Wish they had Duff beer, oh well...
  8. Oh man, I was going to make a Photo TR of my experience there tomorrow! I guess you beat me to it, I'd still post if it was a different Kwik-E-Mart, but I'm near the Mountain View one also =P Nice job though, I'll probably still go... Are they selling Duff beer?
  9. So, it has been a couple days since my last post, yeah, I forget sometimes when I am busy to post the night before, oh no!!! Anyhow, I will post last nights experiences, as well as tonights, even though it is like 3am right now and I am really buzzing from the last beer I had... 1 Hop Stoopid Bomber for whoever can guess what coaster is shown in the upper left hand corner of my T-Shirt in the last picture. Holy Mackerel! Yes, it's crazy and bitter and mad as hell! Yes, it's also awesome tasting!!! A lot like their regular IPA, with even more bite, if that's even possible??? Oh no, Stone opened up a rift in the IBU continuum!!! Nooooooo!!! Uhhh yeah, BevMo had it in stock this time, and yes, it is finally time to ruinate my palate. 7.7% ABV. Tonight I started off with another Sunset Wheat, which is starting to grow on me! Wanted to see what an orange tastes like for the last time before losing all taste completely. Followed up by a nice Stone IPA last night from the six pack. I'm not sure if I just invented this new pose or not, but I have me, my glass, and the bottle all in 1 picture! Ooooh, excellent! As I said before, very nicely balanced, there is some caramel flavors and also some nice cirtrus flavor, a great double IPA, San Diego Style indeed! Green Flash Imperial IPA. 9.0% ABV. A very nicely balanced Double IPA. Yeah, I'm going a little IPA crazy over here...
  10. I'm so jealous, SFGAdv is the park I'd most like to visit right now. I wish I was in the BACT, looks like a good time... Your PGA Grizzlyish comments did give me the chills though, brrr.... Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you in a couple months, who all is making the trip out, anyway?
  11. I almost forgot, two nights ago I went to Rock Bottom in Campbell for Dinner with my mom. It was incredibly busy, and we had to wait for 35 minutes. Then, when we sat, our server came over and told us their kitchen was so overwhelmed that they couldn't put in another order for 15 minutes. So he brought us some chips and salsa on them, and also comped my beer sampler, which was nice. The beer sampler had like 8 beers so that was nice. They even had a Kolsch which I really enjoyed. Also, their pale ale was spicy, an interesting twist. The "IPA" was incredibly lemony and not bitter at all, so that was a bit weird. Overall it wasn't the best Rock Bottom experience, as my Salmon and Chips were not cooked correctly. I think the oil wasn't hot enough because the batter didn't get crispy... I miss the amazing Rock Bottom in Arizona. Today I just got home from my friend Trevor's graduation party, someone bought a Sam Adams brewmaster pack, so I got to try their Hefeweizen, which was pretty good but too lemony, and their Cherry Wheat, which was quite nice indeed. Nice to try two new beers that I wasn't expecting to be there. Last night, I decided to give Marin Brewing a chance to redeem themselves after the awful Point Reyes Porter that I had to pour out. It was quite nice, smelled much like it tasted, with brown sugar, molasses, butterscotch and caramel notes. Very sweet and definitely a strong flavored sipper. Had to try another new beer since the first was so dissapointing that I had to toss it. Moylan's Kilt-Lifter Scotch Ale. 8.0% ABV. My first scotch ale ever. Something is obviously wrong with the last 2 beers I've had from them. After reading the BA reviews, no one said this beer was overly sour or metallic smelling. I am now quite certain that the porter and this was skunked. I'm not trying another of their beers for a long while. Mt. Tam Pale Ale, 5.5% ABV. First pour was all head again, which is quite a problem for me with Marin Brewing. Once it settled, I smelled it, and it smelled the same as the porter did.
  12. Last night I had yet another DIPA... If you're interested in the story behind this brew and Lagunitas, go here: www.pressdemocrat.com/temp/news/15brewery_b1.html A lot of people on BA have called this an Arrogant Bastard clone, but I really disagree, this is much more bitter and hoppy. It tastes a lot more caramel and roasted than Hop Stoopid does though, almost like if you made Inversion IPA a DIPA. Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut Down Ale. ABV 9.28% Definitely a crazy strong beer.
  13. ^ I voted for you too Adam... Oh man, now Derek wants in on the Hop Stoopid action too! I'll contact you guys in private messages shortly before I make my next BevMo trip. Last night I tried a red beer, well sorta... Mmmm, caramel! The last of my Inversion IPA sixer. This stuff is just great, nice alcohol profile with some bitterness. I will buy this again sometime. My last Old Rasputin from the 4-pack. This stuff was definitely worth the 4-pack buy. It was pretty good, but a little rough around the edges. It finishes a little bitey. It's pretty bitter for a red, which I kinda liked as a nice change... Full Sail's Nugget Special Red Ale, Brewmaster's Reserve 2007. 6.5% ABV. Pretty hoppy for a red, smells like pine!
  14. Not at my home park, that is a difficult one! I rode Goliath the same season it was built, as well as Tatsu at SFMM. I have also ridden The Patriot at Worlds of Fun in its debut season. I'm not really sure about Apollo's Charior at BGE, I may have ridden it in its debut season but I can't really recall for sure, it may have been just a little over a year... Almost forgot one, California Screamin' at Disneyland.
  15. ^ Doppelbock's are great. As for the Bottled in 2006 thing, I'm sure it is probably fine since Doppelbock's will hold up well for cellaring (correct me if I'm wrong though) The sediment is most likely normal too, though usually it's not near the cap. Sounds like everything was fine since you approved of the taste. Try to get your hands on a Celebrator Doppelbock if you ever see it! http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18179&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=2774 ^ There's my review.
  16. ^ Haha, nice terminator eyes in those photos. I'll replicate it someday Nicole, you'll see! Ruination in sixers is nice, I didn't see them at BevMo last time I went though, but they did finally get the bombers back in stock after being sold out. I might have to take you up on the Hop Stoopid/Storm King deal Heath, next time I go to BevMo I'll pick up a few bombers and send them out your way! Last night I tried a beer that has enjoyed a lot of face time lately here in the beer thread. Yes, I really am this amazed everytime I have a Stone IPA. Mouthwateringly great! After the orange flavors of the Sunset Wheat I had a big craving for some bitter. My little gargoyle friend should do the trick. No blueberries here Matt, sorry! I wasn't jumping for joy after having this, but it was pretty refreshing. Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat. 4.9% ABV. Yeah, it tastes like it's mixed with orange juice, interesting indeed.
  17. ^ All the recent posts from tons of different sources is awesome, the beer thread is VERY healthy right now!!! Nice! Two night ago I went to Dave and Busters with some friends. I meant to bring my camera, but I forgot it this time! Anyhow, we all got ridiculous size beers (mine was a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale) and wandered the Arcade with them, playing a ton of awesome games! We linked the 6 of us while playing Daytona USA, and I won the race both times. (thanks to being an expert at manual transmission) The best deal as far as playtime per swipe of the card was easily the Ms. Pacman machine all the way hidden in the back. I was able to play for like 15 minutes per swipe and get to like level 8 or 9 before I lost my 3rd man. Anyhow, that was fun, and we went to In-N-Out on the way home at like 12:30am for some grubbin too! Last night was pretty low key, and I just spent time at home mostly working web development projects, and then I tried a new beer that I was excited about. Another attempt at a Heath pose, this might be my closest yet! As with Heath though, this unimpressed face never means anything about the beer, the beer was great! Lagunitas Sonoma Farmhouse Hop Stoopid Double India Pale Ale. ABV 8.2% Very visually appealing, and smelled much like pine!
  18. Oh my, I just now came across this post, awesome! Hi Soren, I know you only from the beer thread, and was wondering where you went off to. It was always interesting to see what weird meals you'd eat along with your beers =P Good to see you are back in Germany! I love Germany, it was so awesome when I visited but I wish I would have had more time there... This is quite possibly my favorite picture of all-time on the site! LOL!!! Bis später, tschüss!
  19. ^ That's a blonde? How come every beer picture you take seems to look the same color to me? I shook the sick bug pretty quick, turned out to be a mild cold, and was back at BevMo earlier today, this time with my Uncle. We decided to drink some more beers and create fire tonight after an awesome teriyaki chicken skewered BBQ that my mom and I hosted tonight for my Uncle and Grandma, who live right across the street. We bought quite a bit of stuff in this trip between the two of us. We even watched the American Brew DVD that came complimentary with my order of BA's magazine subscription on his big plasma in the garage tonight as we sat by the fire. A very enjoyable night splitting bombers 2-3 ways amongst people and just having a grand time watching the tube and building fire. Before American Brew we caught a show about Snow Leopards on PBS, very sweet stuff there, but would have been better in Hi-Def. Side note: I don't really have anywhere in my house that stays at proper cellar temperatures, and out here we don't really have basements. We don't even have A/C so every spot in the house has been 75 on the low side through the summer months. We do however have underground crawl space that is sort of dirty, and I think this is probably around 60-65 degrees and might just work for cellaring... What do you guys think? Double Side note: I'm quite excited about the brews I picked up at BevMo today, and I can't wait to share them one by one with you all! Triple Side Note: It's been like over a week since I've seen a Heath post, is everything okay??? My uncle loves Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout (as do i) so he wanted to try this stuff, as predicted, we both still like Samuel Smith's a great deal amount more... To end the night, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout from Anderson Valley. 5.7% ABV. Yeah, I've had this before. This is the best English Pale Ale I've had yet. They call the beer juicy on the label, and I'd have to second that. It's hard to describe, quite juicy and succulent hop juice types of flavors indeed! Wychwood's Fidler's Elbow. Hi friends from across the pond, yeah, our selection over here is quite good... A nice english pale ale at 5.2% ABV I had to try it just for history sake. Yeah, I didn't like it much, the beer it reminds me most of is Coors light, so basically, a glass of carbonated water... Ahhh Schlitz, a classic that we found in a sixer today at BevMo. Something my Uncle and his friends all remember drinking as they were growing up. Obligatory fire picture. Yeah, pretty much any saturday night that it cools off you can expect a fire at my Uncle's on the driveway. It is obviously good if you liked Guinness, just a bit more bitter, with excellent flavor as it warms... Guinness Extra Stout. 6% ABV. My uncle picked this one up cause he had not tried it before, but I tried this not so long ago... Some of the awesome salt and pepper kettle cooked chips we picked up at BevMo. It was too hard to get a picture without one of my Uncle's friends hands in the bag, so there you have it. It's a pretty good doppelbock that definitely smells german before you even taste it. Has some sweet qualities especially as it warms. We started the night by sharing a Spaten Optimator, a doppelbock import from Germany... 7.2% ABV
  20. I also wanted to ask a question to you guys. I plan to buy some six packs and 4-packs the next time I go to BevMo. Since I will only be trying 1 of each multi-pack in the next couple weeks, I would love to be able to re-visit these beers months down the line. Derek and Heath always seem to be experts at this, and I was wondering what it takes to ensure freshness over periods of time. Also, how am I to know how long certain beers will keep compared to other beers? What does it take to cellar a beer? I really don't have any dark/cool places in my house, so what else could be suggested? Some beers I know I like just make more sense to buy in multi-packs, so I am hoping to be able to cellar to enhance my beer drinking abilities!
  21. Argh, I'm sick! I haven't gotten a new supply of beer yet either... But my mom and I did go to this Southwestern Grill type place a couple nights ago that made some awesome blue corn crispy shelled crab tacos. The place also had a nice beer selection in bottles that you could pick up at the register, so I decided to grab a Lagunitas Censored to go. Places like this are kinda nice because you can try a single instead of having to get a whole sixer. $2.95 is steep but not THAT bad compared to the markup for single bottles of beers at other restaurants, and it's a lot better than a six pack price of $7.99 I am really a fan of this Russian Imperial Stout. It's nice and bitter for the style, and has some great flavors with a nice alcohol profile. It's also one of the cheaper Russian Imperial Stouts available. To finish up two nights ago I had another Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. 9% ABV. Very tasty, and fairly complex. My first Lagunitas beer was a winner... I'll try and pick up some more stuff from them soon. Check out my shirt! Lagunitas Censored aka The Kronic. It's labeled a copper ale, and it's considered a hoppy amber ale. It tasted basically like a cross between a red ale and an ESB to me.
  22. I'll never ride Grizzly at PGA, or Timber Wolf at Worlds of Fun ever again.
  23. Hey everyone, it has been like 3 days since I've posted, yeah I know, amazing! I guess I'm slowing down on the whole posting every night thing, but that's not all bad! I've still been trying a new beer nightly, but I just finished the rest of what I had left. The last 3 nights have all been stouts. Rogue has outdone themselves with this one, more flavor than Young's Double Chocolate Stout, with a better mouthfeel. Another one of my favorite stouts. I think Stouts might just be my favorite style overall. Last night I had Rogue's Chocolate Stout. They use rolled oats in this stuff for a very smooth mouthfeel which I just love. I really liked it, definitely had some Bitterness in it, and couldn't taste the alcohol at all, very tasty! I had Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout on Sunday night. This is a pretty low ABV Imperial Stout, only 7%, so it tasted a bit different than what I am used to. It could have felt a little better in my mouth and, for as much chocolate as it claims to have, it didn't come through that well for me. Still a nice brew though. Saturday night I had Young's Double Chocolate Stout. I thought it was good, but I wasn't really all that impressed.
  24. Certainly one of the best Photo TRs I have ever seen, if not the best. Nice work! Must have taken a long time to write all that and post all the pics! I read every bit though cause it was entertaining. Was your ride on Mean Streak pretty bad then? I really liked my ride when I was there. -Kevin
