Hi. It has been a really long time since I've posted but I'm attempting to get some info about a date at the park that I was planning on being there for. Most Mondays are only open until 5pm, but the one I am looking to be at the park for is September 26th which says it's open until 8pm but provides no other information about why on the website. I'm worried about that since it seems like there may be some event reason that could make the park busier than normal, so if anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated. Very excited to go as it's been nearly 5 years!

Thanks for the info, I think it sounds like we should try to go on a Saturday during KY fair instead of Labor Day. Might be interesting to check out the Fair too. Yes, we are planning to go to Holiday World (I've been there before but my wife hasn't, but I haven't ridden Thunderbird). We're really looking forward to it!

Hi - I'm looking to visit Kentucky Kingdom for the first time and I'm wondering if anyone can give me an idea about what the crowds are like during Kentucky Fair Saturdays - what kind of wait times would I expect on the better coasters? Do you think Labor Day weekend would be less busy? Trying to figure out how to schedule my trip to hit some of the parks around these parts later this year. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Had a really good visit last Saturday - fairly cold out in the evening when we were there but not too bad and operations were great with very small lines. Medusa was a walk-on, Superman had maybe a 10 minute wait, and Joker was near walk-on with great operations all night. The Holiday in the Park themeing was decent in spots but overall a bit underwhelming. They had this one guy tending a fire and that was kinda nice to stop near for some quick warmth but the whole time I was thinking, wow if you guys had a dude making smores right there you could make a killing!

Just curious how long the lines are typically in December for Ghostrider and Xcelerator mid-day on a Saturday. I'll be there this Saturday and would like to know what to expect.

My girlfriend and I are considering bringing hats/sunglasses or maybe her purse with a camera. Do they have bins in the stations for free in most cases or is it a locker-style system?

Long time TPR guy here who has been MIA a long while. I have a trip planned here for Labor Day weekend and I'd like any advice you all may have. We're staying in Cherokee, NC on Friday night, then driving the last leg to Pigeon Forge for Saturday at Dollywood, staying the night, and hitting Dollywood again for half a day on Sunday as we got the two day passes with our accommodation, which turned out to be a great deal. We also are interested in the mountain coasters around the area so I'm trying to figure out when the best time to do those would be and figure out how busy the park will be on Labor Day and whether you guys think it would be a good idea to spring from the TimeSavers at all. Also with the TimeSavers, would I need to buy two? Or is one good enough for our group of 2? Any and all advice is very welcome as I have not been to this area or this park!

lil jimmy: If you like Guinness you should give Guinness Foreign Extra Stout a try. I'm on the fence about last call registering for one or both days. I don't know anyone else from the area that wants to go with me cause none of my friends like the parks very much and the only TPR member I know in the area is CoasterPalooza but it appears he can't make it.

They should obviously make a wooden coaster with a loop, I hear there's one for sale. They wouldn't even have to haul it too far.

I found Seal Beach to be completely charming. I don't know about places overlooking the water, but the beach there, the pier, and the downtown is really awesome and there's a bunch of cool places to trot around at. It's got the small feel vibe that a lot of other beaches in LA lack. Only thing is I think it would be considerably further than a lot of the other places. Another huge plus if you like beer would be Beachwood BBQ in the Seal Beach downtown, TERRIFIC bbq food with great great beer. Anyhow, my biased input resides here, because I loved my experience there...

I've decided to make a rare post. Just got back from a long 9 day vacation to Michigan/Ohio/Indiana to visit some theme parks (Michigan's Adventure, Cedar Point, King's Island, and Holiday World). Stopped by Founders on the way back from Michigan's Adventure and Dark Horse on the way back from Holiday World. Pics follow... Founders in Grand Rapids. My delicious pastrami sandwich on rye with a side of pasta salad and a beer. Which beer you ask? Well it's the Empire Strikes Bitter. A look at the rest of the tap list. The bar area. A Led Zeppelin Cover Band was playing. They weren't half bad. Overview looking inside from the balcony. A view of the balcony. Ray with his Misty Mountain Hop Brown. My 2nd beer, the Oatmeal Stout. Both beers I had were quite good, and Ray and I both liked his beer as well. Hop vine growing outside up to the balcony. Sam Adams East-West Kolsch, had this at Buffalo Wild Wings near Mason, Ohio. Dark Horse Brewing in Marshall, MI. Their ceiling is covered with mug club mugs. The taps. I guess I forgot to take a tap list photo. Oh well. Their taps are always odd looking. First beer, the Special Reserve Black Bier, which I thought had a very nice balance between roast and fruityness. Not sure which I'd prefer between Death and Taxes and this, but both are very tasty. Scotty Karate Scotch Ale and a Bubba Face. Some other beers I bought and drank at Ray's parents house... Founders Centennial IPA. Pretty good. Founders Curmudgeon Old Ale. Very tasty indeed. Short's Huma Lupa Licious IPA. Also very good. And last but definitely not least I leave you with my favorite beer all trip, Founders Double Trouble, straight from the source and fresh as all hell. This beer was incredible.

That's by far the cheapest Angel's Share bottle I've ever seen.

I generally like the Lost Abbey beers, but they are way too expensive. I kinda understand why Angel's share is expensive, since they're aging it a long time in expensive bourbon or brandy barrels and it's taking up space. I just don't see how $15.99 is a justifiable price for Red Poppy though. I still haven't had it so I can't comment on how I liked it, but from a logistical standpoint it's just an Oud Bruin with cherries added into a simple oak barrel for 6 months. When I start comparing a price like that to the $14.99 Sculpin six packs everyone thinks are so expensive, the Sculpin six packs seem like a total steal.

^ Yeah, seems kind of ridiculous a bunch of BA dudes 2 hours from Russian River Brewing Company traded someone in PA for a Growler. Apparently according to my buddies the only place that filled growlers of it that week was this placed called TJ's, pictured below. The growler was fresh, arrived 5 days after it was filled. Honestly though, while it was good we put this next to Pliny the Elder and Pliny was better, Blind Pig was on par. I feel like a lot of the PA people may have given it excessively high reviews because they wanted to make other people be like "Oooh look at us they made this amazing DIPA for us that's better than other hoppy stuff they do!" As you can see the Russian River Registration Ale paired nicely with my Burger King Chicken Nuggets.
